I think he really became desperate since his daddy died in February. He lost his bank roll. He decided to extort money from the Holloways and he knew sooner or later they would find out he was lying. He was on a mission and didn't care who or what got in his way to get out of it ...AGAIN!

i tend do agree with you and i also think that he liked to gamble in his own mind whether he could make off with other peoples money too...especially young women that he viewed as powerless to his charm and/or physical strenghth...moo he failed to factor in the justice system of peru into is odds... very unfortunate mistake on his part (sarcasm) he deserves all that is coming to him...

morning all, sorry if someone has already mentioned this - but in the first version of jvds crap he says the robbers in the hotel room 309 made away with $4000... so is this part of the money that she was reported to have been missing or is this some more money that is unaccounted for? i really like the way he tries to say that he is a business man and that is how he came to have the "extorted" money in his accounts and on his person to gamble with... i really believe that there was more at stake here than just a few hundred soles...and that he had intended to take her money from the very beginning - he just didnt realize that he was going to end up having to kill her to get it... i think he is a money fiend, kwim?

Joran basically had a day to quash his laptop and change and delete
things. They need to run all urls he uses to find the total records.
Said tonight from Gretta & Grace still waiting on a Court order. Why

I just want to comment on the toilet facility. Many countries in the world use a squat toilet which looks like a hole in the ground. So Maximo is right. Joran should be used to it , since they are also common in Thailand. Of course modern international hotel chains do use the western style seating toilet.
Many countries with squat toilets do not use toilet paper either but clean their behind with water and can not comprehend how those funny westerners can clean good by rubbing paper around. Sorry if slightly O/T.

Finally catching up, and just loved this post. After thinking about it, you're right. In the UK if you say Bathroom, they think you want a bath or shower. It's best to say Toilet or Water Closet. Toilets in Asian countries, are the typical hole in the ground with a jug of water to use.

So I'm sure JVS is used to this sort of thing -- though I'm certainly not.

Joran could have planned to drug and "roll" Stephany in that hotel room, leaving her to wake with all her money taken and Joran long gone. I'd sure like to know what time the employees heard the argument. Stephan probably never even got sleepy and caught Joran trying to get her money if he wasn't able to coax her into drinking something. Stephanie having taken amphetamines may really have foiled Joran's plans. He may even have tried to force her into taking ghb for all anyone knows.

Maybe their statement means there were no signs of a depressant drug (i.e., date rape drug) in her system that would have made her drowsy and affected her thinking and reactions, but only a stimulant drug to keep her awake.

From an EX-gambler's perspective I can tell you you don't need amphetamines to stay up 2, 3 or even 4 days playing poker in a casino. I would go on a Friday night and have to drag myself out on a Monday morning for work..Wide awake!! The adrenalin rush is like a drug! I still think they were cheating somehow and went back to the room to divide up their winnings..JMO

Personally, I think they're probably in the denial phase of grief. I remember that well when my dad died. I knew he was dead, and it hurt, but it was sort of like it was happening outside of me or to someone else. I was just kind of numb. I even remember often thinking that it wasn't right. That I should be so much more devistated. That there had to be something wrong with me for not feeling enough. Then the denial phase ended rather abruptly and it was like hitting a wall... the most wrenching hideous emotional agony ever. I would have given anything to go back to that denial phase again.

and why would he invent this if not to plant the idea in the Peruvian authorities he is somehow a victim or there is something wrong with
him ? In either case he is looking for an allowance because of this term, he may not even know the definition of! The Peruvian system allows time off for people who commit
crimes with certain disabilities ...

All we know objectively is the word has come up, out of Joran. We dont know that Joran actually received such an email or not, or would be so
offended as he is claiming ... why is Joran trying to portray himself as a
vestile virgin in any sense? I seriously doubt he has not been called names before! He might just laugh it off ... not to kill somebody over it!

BTW just so you know, I wrote a phD thesis about Down's syndrom clients at a facility I worked at in my college years ... ages ago. At the time
Mongoloid and Mongoloidism were accepted clinical terms including in case files - no pejorative
sense was implied. It is only is recent times that Down's Syndrom has
replaced the term, but as a result of social PC efforts and social useage issues by mean-spirited people having noting to do with clinical efficacy? For all I know the word "Transplant"
may be found unacceptable and pejorative tomorrow if some movement decides it must be?
I think of the word clinically regardless of what others may do.

I agree. For someone short tempered, out of money, not sure what he's going to do next -- this would certainly set him off. According to the psych report, he is quick to anger. If Stephany didn't want to give up her money (obviously), it wouldn't take much.

OTOH, I think he's also using all this gobbldy-goop to set himself up as "sick in the brain", an act of rage -- for a lesser sentence.
