Yeah, the last thing in the universe, when your lovely young daughter was horrificially just killed!

You are really proving my point.

Given that the matter of the 'extortion' (wire fraud charges) have been laid in the USA -- is still on the table -- that may be a factor in the sentencing and where he will go next ((would they allow him to be extradited to the USA?? before his sentence in Peru is completed or make a deal??))

Netherlands has no extradition treaty with Peru (bet those negotiatiors are really interested in that now - they have been working on it for two years already) but the USA does have a treaty with Peru

Everyone handles the shock of sudden death of a loved one differently -- some folks find they need seclusion and others need to make themselves ''busy'' doing something that has purpose for them

Well that matter still has nothing to do with a grieving family doing all this sensationalist, foreign TV.

But Joran faces life imprisonment for murder in furtherance of a robbery, in Peru. So the extortion thing, in the U.S. may be moot. And I am not even sure if that is valid legally. Of course, then there is the issue of him telling about Natalie who was killed Arruba, and if he cops to that, I think that would bring him to Arruba. US will be at the bottom of the totem pole.

Of course, there could be many dark and deeper reasons for the Flores family to be doing all that TV. At a low level of conspiracy, if he really is powerful and connected, it would give him a clever out. If someone kills Joran for hire, it just couldn't have been Flores because he renounced all vengeance etc. on TV.

I am not saying I believe this is the case. Just a possibility. It's just that in my own country, the last time we had a national politician who wasn't a total fake, and actually cared about all his fellow citizens was on Nov. 22, 1963. If we can't have a single honest national politician (in 47 years), why should Peru be any different?

Well there is an interesting timing -- the OAS was meeting in Lima the week that the JVDS/SF case was announced.

http://www.oas.org/en/40ga/events.asp

That is interesting.

Do you follow that? I don't much.
I wonder with all the recent changes, I would imagine they no longer just rubber stamp everything the US says, like they used to?

How come no one laughed/commented on my "Joran's Review of Hotel Castro Castro" a few page sback??

Was this the one that has a link to the hotel and "Joran" comment? That was a hoot!

If not, show me the post, I may have missed it. Coffee is in now.

Also, only seems that only you, newone, and me are awake and reading. Shhhhh...... Be very quiet, everyone is sleeping. :)

It's an entity that promotes legal and economic cooperation between member countries--there is a lot to see on that link -- extradition treaties would fall under that umbrella of discussion too.

Mr. Flores (during his first interviews) indicated that his daughter's passing served a higher purpose (referring to closure for the Holloways and the capture of JVDS) -- so there be more as you say.

This is based on the review of the Tac Sac Motel by JVDS [but not really] that can be found at this link previously found and posted at WS:

Review of Castro Castro Accomodations by Joran Van Der Sloot, 6/17/10
As relayed to our correspondent in America, Bobarino
· My ratings for “Hotel” Castro Castro
o Value: “Such a deal. I got in for free! I might just never leave!”
o Meals: “I eat what the very top people here eat. And no extra charge to me! Didn’t get food poisoning, or Giardia or ameobiasis, yet! I can’t say that for other places I’ve been to!”
o Rooms: “Hey I got a private Room! You can’t beat that!
o Location: Center of Hell, er… I mean Lima,
o Cleanliness: “Moma told me I might need to learn how to take care of my room one day. I shoulda listened.”
o Service: “Hey, I haven’t been raped yet.”
o Sleep Quality: “Hey, I haven’t been raped yet.”
o Do you plan to return: “First I gotta get out of here.”
o Would you recommend this place to a friend: “Hey, I haven’t been raped yet. And you can play cards with some very interesting people that I have a lot in common with. So yeah, why not.”
o SPECIAL NOTE: In the event of my demise here, change my recommendation to a no! And donate my remains to science. No, I was only kidding. Can I get money for them? Oh I’d be dead, oh just contact my Mama.
o Did I do it? How much have you got? Oh, that’s right I’m dead now… [Silence]

Bobarino;

I saw it! :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: Sad, true, sarcastically funny.

Reminds me of the Beckett plays too.

Thank you!

Just trying a little levity to help us all survive.

Did you mean Samuel Beckett?
I know a little of his work. Isn't he considered one of the greats of the 20th century? If so, you do me too much honor!

  • #933
Yes, Samuel Beckett.

The irony of it for Joran though.

It's a (w)rap?

OK.

Thank you again.

Which of his works do you recommend above the others?

And what is your take on Joran? If you think he killed Stephany--for money, sex, insanity, or what?

Beckett? All of them, but if I had to choose one it would be "Waiting for Godot."

Joran: anger, money, ego. Not sure if it is sex. I do think he has sexual issues, perhaps even afraid of those issues. (He may have time to explore them now in his new home.) Maybe being told no is too much for his ego though.

I also think he killed Stephany for more infamy, hate/love of Paulus' control of his life and Natalie's control over his entire youthful life.

JMO of course.

ETA: It did not help that he was raised with Anita always giving to the men in her life and turning a blind eye either.

Wow, you got everything in there!

Simple me. I just thought he ran out of money and thought he had an easy mark. But I did think he then might have made some sexual offer that she wouldn't have been interested in.

You seem like a literary master yourself.

Now I know "Waiting for Godot." IIRC, I read some of it. I didn't get around to reading the whole thing--waiting, you know...

O/T

Just getting caught up, and I have to say something.

Why did only one member of WS have the courage to tell PattyG what a gorgeous son she has! She went through all of the trouble to put the photo up for us to see.

PattyG, your son looks like a male "super model" or a movie star. Thank you for sharing. Dog is a very good looking dog too! What a lovely family you have. I am certain you are very proud! :)

I think Patty G's son is an extremely handsome gentleman and I appreciated her posting his picture. I thought that's what the "Thanks" button was for. :)

So, I'm wondering... Is it the consensus now that the date (five years to the day from Natalee's disappearance) is purely coincidental?

With all the theories (robbery, gambling addiction, hair trigger temper, sexual assault, etc.), some of which I agree with, I still can't get past the overwhelming odds that it happened on exactly that date.

IMO, it was no coincidence. Joran was "celebrating" the anniversary.
