I really can't think of any reason he'd have tidal charts for Peru as he was there for a poker tournament and was supposed to stay there and play that week ~ except to possibly dispose of her body in the ocean. MOO

I totally agree with one caveat, I don't belive there were any tidal charts. jmo

I do not think the charts are important either, just the fact that they said they could not get into the laptop. But, obviously that is where the information that a search had been done came from. I cannot abide liars. And it seems to me the information we are gettiing is at best questionable. jmo

Maybe he looked up the tide and current information and made his own chart. Or maybe they are available at the local stores. Just thought it was strange it appeared to come from is laptop and yet they said they could not look into his laptop. js

It is strange.

Dutch man to face Peru judge over murder charges

"His Peruvian lawyer Maximo Altez told local media that Van der Sloot planned to avoid responding to the judge's questions in a bid to invalidate the police investigation.

Altez said his client would not speak to authorities until the court accepts a writ of habeas corpus for him to challenge his detention. The document was filed a week ago and requested a new police interrogation in the presence of a Altez, a prosecutor and a translator.

Police say their previous interrogation already took place under these circumstances.
Foreign attorneys are expected to arrive in Lima in July to help Van der Sloot's defense.

One of the lawyers is Joseph Tacopina, who defended the Dutchman in the Holloway case.
The investigation stage of the Flores case could last three to 12 months before giving way to a public trial."

I haven't heard them mentioned since his arrest so it's hard to say whether they exist or not. It would be helpful if there was a property report of his belongings when taken into custody that we could read! MOO

Seems from this, Joran had already started thinking about a robbery gone bad. IMO

Could be, or could be that after contacting all of his friends for money and not getting any he makes up the robbery story to try to get his mom to send money and she refused him as well. Maybe she forgot to mention that part, because you know, wouldn't seem like he was crazy if he asked for money, would just seem like another Joran lie. Another Joran attempt at extorting mother.

Has anybody ever shown the pictures that JQK took of his meeting with JVS?

Was the wrongful death lawsuit still pending when JQK & the FBI decided to set up the sting? tia

From the article above ///
He has been charged with first-degree murder in the case, along with aggravated robbery for allegedly taking more than 10,000 dollars of gambling money from Flores.

We were discussing this the other nite. Just found it interesting to see this figure in print. The brother had mentioned this amount .. but it seemed with all the different translations we couldn't arrive at a sum.

It sounds like you need plenty of room to do muay [from reading woebegones copied article] as it is mostly or exclusively kicking. I am not familiar with muay.

Good grief! <palm/forehead> Tacopina just can't help himself from jumping on this trainwreck.

JVS isn't exactly in any position to bargain at the moment, but it will be interesting to see how this tact works out for him.

I've come across a you tube video of joran taking a lie detector test regarding the Holloway case.
The examiner thought that joran was holding his sphincter so as to skew the results of his answers.

Many of you might have seen this before but others not. It is in Dutch, but I'm posting it to show when joran was confronted about it, you get to see his instant rage (5:36) when he throws a glass at the wall.

LOL!!! I guess that could work! I have heard of people being anal before. That is so funny.

eta - I am sorry if that is inappropriate. It gave me the giggles but I am just laughing about the word play not the examiner's opinion.

Jilly do you happen to know who the male is in the interview room with JVDS?

JVDS seems to focus on the female interviewer in the room.

And again out in the hall, after his abrupt departure. JMHO.

We don't know for sure but according to the link that TwiceIrish posted (page before) they will be checking this during the pretrial investigation which could take up to a year. Up to now, my guess is that reporters have been paying off investigators etc., for info.

"There are still many things to finish in the pre-trial investigation. One of the primary things is the reading of the contents of Joran van der Sloot's laptop. We do not know yet what information it contains....."

He was arrested in Chile one day after Flores' body was found. Authorities there found him in possession of his laptop and a chart indicating the tides in the Pacific off Lima's coast, which led them to suspect he wanted to dump Flores' body in the ocean.

Its obvious that Joran LOVES being the centre of attention, its written all over his face during most of the interviews I have ever seen him do, he's positively SPARKLING!

Also really enjoyed the man-love-montage at 7:44

If the reports of JVDS having a tide chart in his possession at the time of his arrest are true ... when did he purchase them? When he went out for coffee? That's the only time I can figure. MOO
