Well, here's what I find, umm... interesting?... about Joe Tacopina that tells me just exactly what kind of lawyer he is.

On the home page for his law firm, it's mentioned no less than 3 times that he's 'the hottest young lawyer' according to GQ magazine. WTH?? How does that factor into possessing the qualities of a good lawyer?

Oh, and please, PLEASE read the actual GQ article that he's so proud of. Apparently he's too dense to see that they're not so subtly ridiculing his pretentious arrogance. At least that's they way I read it.

But I wonder if your link to the report by Amigoe.com is correct. It states that this was reported by the newspaper Peru21....but I don't see anything to this affect on the Peru21 website. They only have the original report of 'three attorneys', with 2 being foreigners, but nothing about Altez being replaced. :waitasec:

Also, I haven't seen any web reports by any of the major US media about Tacopina getting involved!! That's kind of weird. Are they all still in 'holiday weekend' mode??!!??

The only difference is after JVS has been financially drained dry, he'll be cooling his heels in prison where he belongs - just like Melanie McGuire - while JT will be off to buy another pair of expensive Italian loafers from Milan.

I don't know but I think that is a huge mistake to not have one lawyer that knows peru's laws.

I agree and that's why I'm questioning if it's even possible. Or is this another thing he'll appeal when convicted ~ that he didn't have a Peruvian attorney?? :banghead:

im guessing that he had not received payment for retainer??? i dont think his services come cheaply. but then again there is a lot of press involved, but maybe joe hadnt assessed the entire situation yet??

JVS is an idiot. He's being thrown into the shark's mouth. JVS and JT both love the media attention and the media loves the attention they get from the both of them. The thing is, after the water settles, both the media and JT will be well fed and JVS will be behind bars--somewhere. JT is just the boat captain throwing the sharks (media) more chum. It will be interesting to see, if at his best, JT can wiggle his way around to get JVS to serve his time elsewhere? I think we are only seeing the beginning of this adventure of feeding the sharks.....one little finger and toe at a time.

Maybe they gave him an offer he can't refuse!

Seriously, I don't know if it's true or not JT is going to represent JVDS in Peru. IF he does, he'll probably do it for the publicity alone, thinking he'll get him off on a technicality.

Prior to the NH case, and before JT represented JVDS previously, JT was a regular fixture on the nightly news. I think that's most likely how the VDS family chose him, his high profile. But after that case died down, he's hardly been on the shows at all. Just maybe two or three times in the past 3 years.
He may have been popular previously, but I don't think the Holloway case did him any favors. Just like Garagos with SP. He was all over the tube prior to his representing SP, but since, not so much.

The problem is these guy's ego gets in the way, they make mistakes, their losses are broadcast and it's down-hill from their. IMHO

I know!!!!! I was reading up on him last nite! I think it was on his website and definitely other articles where he claims to have represented Michael Jackson. He didn't. He honed in on an assistant for MJ who Sneddon charged with kidnapping and what not the mother of the victim. The charges were dropped and of course Tacapino claims a big victory. I personally think that Sneddon was just flexing his muscles when he laid the charges anyways.

Other cases where he's got himself into some trouble. He's an opportunist, imo. Same department as Geragos.

From what I've been reading, I doubt this is a case that would even qualify to be heard there.
I think it's just a bunch of show-boating from joran's lawyer.

Interesting to know that this Court is comprised of 7 Judges and the current President is from Peru!

I agree that maybe the retainer had not come about yet, but his statement(s) for the newspapers/media are the beginnings of his case preparation. So far, if you notice, everything goes back 4 1/2 - 5 years ago and how JVS was someone who wouldn't do such things and how the media just overwhelmed him, etc. So, my point is, JVS became this type of person due to everything that happend on the NH case and because he has that "bullseye" on his back and was hounded. He says that the NH case doesn't have anything to do with the present situation, but watch and see, he'll use it. JMHO
