Not sure what to make of all this recent flurry of activity regarding JVDS. In a way I think that he needs any attention he can get from the foreign media just in order to survive. I have to believe that if no one cares or is interested in anything that he has to say or what is happening to him there in Peru then he will be at a greater risk for something to "happen" to him there in prison. It looks like this interview was a long time in the planning so it's not that easy for the foreign media to get access to him it appears. And are there any others even interested? That's the point of him saying provocative things in this interview IMO...get others interested so he can continue to stay in the media spotlight. He was out of it pretty good there for a while before this recent interview and TV show. Seems to me like he's trying to bait the US media by speaking of the extortion and the Holloways.
He speaks kindly of the prison guards, certainly something that helps him in his current situation since they are the only people that he sees and they are in control of his life at the moment, but will that help him in the long term if he is ever released into the general population? It's probably unlikely that he ever will be with his monetary resources and the fact that they have a foreign prisoner section in Castro Castro, so it looks like he's playing the right people at the moment.
Sure seems like he's still pulling the strings. If I were a member of Stephany's family I'd be outraged too.
