Perhaps the searches were both before and after the murder of Stephany??

One articles says "he visited sites related to Natalee Holloway's death, his first victim". Maybe these were before he murdered Stephany (and may have even perpetuated it?)? And then the searches of how to get out of Peru were after he killed her.

Just speculating...

In this, no mention of the Mongoloid email (event crucial according to
Joran) ?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL -

He said that Stephany searched his computer, found out who he was, he became angry and murdered her.

That was his story, and the mongoloid email.

FWIW...

JORAN HIRES HIT MAN AFTER CELL ROBBERY

Flying into a wild rage after a fellow prisoner burglarized his cell, vicious killer Joran van der Sloot hired a hit man to get bloody revenge.

Shocked guards found the thief lying in a pool of blood, screaming in agony with three stab wounds in his stomach.

Joran sneered as he told another prisoner: “That’ll teach the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 not to mess with me!”

Incredibly, the horrifying “hit” cost the well-heeled Dutch 🤬🤬🤬🤬 a paltry $105, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

well if true, there is yet another charge against
Joran (in Peru).

Right?? So far he's made at least one escape attempt, assaulted a guard and attempted to buy drugs on camera and he hasn't gotten his wrists slapped yet - to my knowledge.
What goes around, comes around in those places.

I'm not exactly sure what the 2 very, very poorly translated Peruvian news articles below are saying....but I think Joran' lawyer is asking for his release because the court process is proceeding much more slowly than usual.

Seems like they can hold him for 18 mos. before actually charging him, but his lawyer says that the progress of the court investigation so far after nearly 9 mos. will never allow its completion within the next 9 months. Joran's lawyer says this is due to the lack of a Dutch translator in the Peruvian courts, but the Flores family lawyer says there are other reasons for the delay......at least, I THINK that's what's stated. Your opinions / translations are most welcome!!

They also state that "the change of judge in the court handling the case will cause a further delay in the process". which reminds me that we are still waiting for the 4th judges ruling on the legality of the confession since early Sept.!!!

I really wouldn't mind all these delays if there was no possibility that he could be released after 18 months...MMO

Oh, for cryin' out loud!

I'm getting the same thing from those articles, FLNY. Although it seems the Flores attorney (Edward Alvarez) is implying that JVS is being uncooperative.

I can't imagine there would be any way he'd just be released after 18 months. And if he is, all I can say is he better have some heavy protection in place.

  • #47
Oh, I think he gets it, alright. He just thinks he's above it - that the rules don't apply to him.

And it seems so far they haven't. JMO

Mail call a busy time for van der Sloot

The guys on the cell block aren't Joran van der Sloot's only pen pals. Bags of mail arrive at prison for him.

According to Dutch website hartvannederland van der Sloot gets daily fan mail from dozens of admirers from around the world. Most letters come from women from the Netherlands and the United States. Some even send expensive gifts in the hope of standing out among all the other envelopes.

The Dutch newspaper SP!TS reports ambassador Arjan Hamburger is not at all happy with the situation. Hamburger told the paper van der Sloot poses a lot of headaches. "He generates a lot of media attention, which costs us time and it is not good for the relationship between the Netherlands and Peru ," he told the free daily newspaper.

This strange phenonomen of women fawning over cold blooded killers never ceases to amaze me.

"Peruvian prison authorities have denied Dutch murder suspect Joran van der Sloot the right to speak to Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

His lawyer Máximo Altez ...said that Peru is reluctant to grant RNW the interview because of general elections in three months. [Stephanie's] father, Ricardo Flores, is a congress candidate on behalf of the Solidaridad Nacional party."

http://www.rnw.nl/english/bulletin/peru-bans-joran-van-der-sloot-interview

FINALLY, someone is saying 'NO' to Joran!!! :great:

But, I must say that I was rather taken aback that Ricardo Flores is running for office again in the wake of this tragedy. Then again, life goes on....

Not sure if I should be passing this on, since the only source seems to be The National Enquirer. But it's certainly within the realm of possibilities for JVDS. So here it is for what it's worth: :waitasec:

"Did Joran van der Sloot make a cocaine fueled escape attempt from Peru's Castro Castro prison? The NATIONAL ENQUIRER says he did.

The tabloid says the incident happened January 15 when prison guard Luis Gavancho took a tray of food to the Dutchman's cell...only to be attacked by van der Sloot...

'In his drugged state, he probably imagined he could hold the guard hostage and maybe escape,' said the source.

A search of Peruvian and Dutch websites that heavily cover van der Sloot's case didn't turn up any further coverage of the alleged escape attempt."

http://www.cbs42.com/content/localn...-attempt/cMmaLWaoQESa_5r7X1A26g.cspx?rss=1659

This article surmises that Joran may have been on cocaine, but that's just speculation in MHO:

Hi FLNY!

I saw this article from NE. The only other place I saw it published was in 'Globe', which is the same type of publication as NE. That news gather site is just that - it's source come from NE and Globe. So I don't know how much credence the story carries.

If there's any iota of truth to it, it will only add to the long list of charges when he finally gets around to being held accountable. His day is definitely coming. Tick tock...

It's quite surprising that the computer analysis actually support Joran's statement about playing online poker and a seach about Natalee. It actually lends credence to the "sudden anger" or "crime of passion" theory.

After all the lies Joran has told, it seems shocking that something he said is supported by facts.

Not according to what the reporter is saying in this Video clip. Not sure how accurate/complete is his information; but according to this video clip, the Peruvian TV program "Cuarto Poder" had access to the computer analysis report of the laptop, which indicates that JVDS made searches re the NH case, on May 29th, which shows his concern with the case.
Laptop findings for May 30th (day of the crime), indicate that there were entries to the online poker game, which coincides with the timelime when Stephany was there.
Reporter also mentions the other searches regarding his planning to escape to Chile, took place after Stephany was dead.

  • relación entre policía peruana y chilena (relationship between Peruvian and Chilean police)
  • pasar frontera chilena (passing the Chilean border)
  • buses en Chile (busses in Chile)
    y por último
  • países que no conceden la extradición en América Latina (countries that do not extradite in Latin America)

Thank so much, Hazel, for this transcript. I put it through a less than ideal translator, which seems to be saying that even more important than the computer findings is the evidence that shows he stole her money as part of the crime...she had money on her before going to his room, he had little before but enough afterwards to finance his escape and to survive for several days.

Translation:
"This week 'Cuarto Poder' had access to the report prepared by the Direction of Highly Technology of the National Police, relating to the laptop of the presumed murderer. The Laptop HP-PAVILLION, black color, guard information on the last actions of the presumed murderer before its flight.

The registrations of May 29 indicate searches about the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, what permits to make out its constant worry by the monitoring of this fact, given that the corpse of the American until today was not found.

For May 30 (that of the crime), diverse entrances to the play in line are registered "Poker Stars", that would coincide with the hours in which Stephany was in the room of the Dutchman. This would permit to determine the stratagem of the Dutchman to carry to Stephany to its room; room where he would be infuriated with her, to kill her.

It is known that Flores was a very confident girl and above all that was fan to that play, for the one that had a shown good luck and skill.

But it but developer are the searches that the suspicious habria carried out in Google, after the decease of the young woman. Said searches pray literally thus: Relation between Chilean and Peruvian police (relationship between Peruvian and Chilean police) to pass Chilean border (passing the Chilean border) buses in Chile (busses or Chile) and finally countries that do not
grant the extradition in Latin America (countries that gave not extradite or Latin America) This would be a sign of the strategy that practiced Van der Sloot to flee the country and to intend to be freed again of the justice.

Nevertheless, the tests that but weight they will have, will be the testimonies of a friend of Stephany, that declared the police to have seen the victim with cash in her power, great part of it earned in the casino. The victim also carried with herself a sum delivered by her father, that was destined to the purchase of a laptop.

As contrast of this data, the Dutch authorities possess information that indicates that Van der Sloot called constantly his resident friends in that country, to ask them money, because fraction in File was found.

All indicates that the Dutchman used this money to carry out his calculated flight and to continue living his existence of chances and dangerous play. The victim seemed perfect: a solvent youth, that handled own small truck and that seemed interested in playing in the room of an apparently kind tourist.

These mentioned evidences would be carrying the Dutchman to the maximum prison sentence; a prison sentence that the deudos intend be proportional to the cruelty with which was stolen the life of a Peruvian youth."

No problem FLNY.
This part of the translation made me laugh, LOL:

Should read something like: "Dutch authorities are in possession of information that indicates VdS was constantly calling his friends in that country (Holland), asking them for money, because he was broke (no money) in Lima".

This is practically saying that all the evidence indicates the 'motive' was robbery. She was the perfect victim: cash, car and willing to go into his room in order to play the online poker game. All these would indicate he used that money to escape and to continue living the 'lifeslyle' he is used to.

Wow...now that's a baaaaddd translation!! I had no idea what 'fraction in file was found' was trying to say...would never have guessed what you translated it to mean!! Sure helps having a Spanish speaker on board. :great: Thanks again!

I think "fraction in file" might refer to what was found on the computer, perhaps the reference is to something in a computer file.

Aside from the headline, there are several interesting comments by Joran's lawyer in this interview:

"He is being housed with four other men in the maximum security unit and there have been no problems - it is not like he is a child molester or anything like that.

He spends his time playing cards and chess while he gets to exercise regularly too - once a week he is permitted to make a phone call to his mother Anita which keeps his spirits-up.

We are tyring to get the director of the prison to house him with the general population now and I don't think he would have any problems there either - he is looked-on as a bit of a celebrity by the other prisoners because of all the media interest in him."

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...er-sloots-lawyer-blasts-natalee-holloways-mom

I don't know...to my way of thinking, his being a 'bit of a celebrity' could put a higher price tag on his head....anyone going after him might look at it as a chance to gain their own 'celebrity' status in the prison.

Do the online translators generally have trouble with reflexive verbs? That seems to be the problem in the passage re JVDS "finding himself broke" in Lima.

No, Hazel, is correct. The clause says (Joran) "found himself broke in Lima." I don't know how the program got to 'fraction in file", As in English, the same word "quebrado" can mean broke (bankrupt) or broken (in pieces), so maybe the program assumed something was in pieces or "fractions" of a whole.

IIRC, it was reported that the inmate who killed Jeffrey Dahmer did so precisely because Dahmer's celebrity make him a prestigious "kill".
