HLN stating the request from his attorney to have his confession thrown is due to lack of representation at the time he confessed. FBI said their case wasn't ready to file charges previously, they were working on perhaps a murder charge on him rather than just extortion.

I saw that too, I think these 2 met up earlier. She lied to her friends to go back to to the casino. Maybe JVDS knew she was coming back and put the GHB in the drink. I find it odd how he barely said anything and she put the drink in front of herself.
