I get why you would say this, but I don't think that's strange at all. I have a child who just graduated from a medium-sized, public state university, and she lived off campus, in a town much like Moscow is described. If something tragic happened at her apt, it would never occur to me that someone from her school would or should show up. Emergency alert, yes, of course. Moo
I understand this town isn't accustomed to crime, nonetheless, the university (with the responsibility they hold for a large student body) would have emergency protocols in place (natural disaster, etc). Beyond sending just an alert text!! I've spent a lot of time as staff and faculty on three different university campuses and I can tell you if they didn't initially know what to do, they would quickly form a plan. A quadruple murder is 4 alarm fire time. Along with campus police, someone high up from student affairs should have rushed over to the location to make an assessment (not just talk to LE on the phone). The town is small, it was Sunday early afternoon, it would have taken someone 10 minutes to drive over. They would quickly find the students huddled there waiting for word about their friends inside. The university and local LE totally dropped the ball that day (and in following days). After seeing how they treated the roommates, friend group and the victim's families I was floored.

I believe that BK committed the murders . And that he should spend the rest of his life behind bars. IMO
But I have a question , maybe someone knows the answer. Was it ever explained who the blood samples belonged to that was found on the glove found outside and on the railing inside ?

This is telling, Chapter 41 BK stopped showing up to TA after a meeting, 2 weeks after Professor John Snyder told him he had failed to meet the requirements. His department improvement plan included 'losing the misogyny" and they were slated to meet again in a month. This was approximately on November 10th. That timing. Yowza

I am skeptical, at this point, about the detail of what was written in the improvement plan. It just doesn't sound like the kind of language we usually see in doctoral-level (or any other level) improvement plans from my experience. An experienced faculty member, department chair, and dean would know what kind of language would be acceptable and have training on that from the dean, and others, about what the university's general counsel (attorney) would find acceptable. This kind of language could trigger a Title IX investigation or lawsuit, etc. So call me skeptical at this point.

Do you have a link to the information about the glove? The judge only stipulated a gag order until a verdict was reached, so maybe all the evidence will be made public after his sentencing.

I will not spread gossip because it is third hand information, but I am less skeptical. I agree we are not getting all the details. JMOO

I understand. But any accusation of discriminiation based on gender would have to be reported by faculty to the Title IX officer. Also, IIRC, early on it was stated that the department's findings did not include anything related to gender issues with BK and students. So there are reasons for my skepticism.

I always wondered why best friends Kaylee and Maddie didn’t join the same sorority as freshmen.

According to The Idaho Four: An American Tragedy, sororities at University of Idaho have a policy of separating girls who know each other well since “the point of Greek life is to make new friends, not cling to old ones.”

So only Kaylee was accepted into Alpha Phi, the sorority both Kaylee and Maddie wished to join.

I’m glad the two stayed close, nonetheless, and were together in the end.

Just to clarify, since I haven't acquired the book yet--which of those events was around Nov 10? Stopping showing up to TA or the next scheduled meeting about the improvement plan?

The language is a little open to interpretation. First they say after November 2nd, the authors state a meeting took place after that date, all following the his interaction with his Prof. previously (October). BK stopped showing up to assist in teaching AND he was then spoken to for the second time by two departments heads, with a follow-up scheduled for 1 month later (12/10).

I think they are being vague on purpose. If I am reading this correctly, they would have met with him the Thursday before the murders. Some speculate failing within his field of study as a TA precipitated events. I have just never heard it put together like this before. JMOO

Next time we see BK he will be in his orange jump suit. Maybe even with a shaved head.

There was something final about seeing Alex Murdaugh when he was sentenced. Decked out in cuffs, leg chains, waist chain. Orange jumpsuit, completely bald. Still defiant to the end. Something is wrong with these people.

Now that will be a truly disturbing image.

Valid. But this is their opportunity to make a victim impact statement. However, since BK is being sentenced to 4 consecutive life sentences, any victim impact statement won't make a difference anyway.

I understand wanting to move on. Respecting their choice. For me, it would probably help me to bring closure to the entire situation. But they might feel that is not necessary.
They know it will be hollow. They won't benefit from doing it, and frankly it's giving emotional energy to the situation and BK. F that guy! I support them in shunning and ignoring and going to a place the family loves, with great memories of Ethan, the lake. I would imagine no one ever moves on from the death of a child.

Just picked up the Patterson/Ward book, so hope to start contributing to discussion of it soon. I started to listen to it on Audible, but I just like to hold a book in my hands while I read. I like to feel the pages and "smell" the book. I comprehend text better when I am actually looking at it, and not on a computer or e-reader either. I guess I'm just getting old and "set in my ways".

I wreck print books so I sometimes have both.

That book seems to have already gone with the incel theory, which there is no evidence of, just speculation. I will wait until after the gag order to see who will write a reputable book.

I do find it strange that Bryan went through the steps of trimming his brows and hair when he was pleading guilty. What’s the point.
I'm guessing he did it before he decided to plea, thinking he was taking it to trial...

This is what the Goncalves had to say about attending the sentencing.

1:11:23Christie, do you think you'll attend the the sentencing or is that a step too far
for you as a family? Um, no. We're really um we're trying to figure that out right now because
unfortunately um not unfortunately but um our youngest daughter is going away
to college and that the 21st to the 25th is her orientation week. Um and it's not
close to home. It's not close here to Idaho. It's uh it's a few states away um
few time zones away. So um you know we have to be there for Aubrey. you know,
she's um um but yet we really want to be there for the sentencing here uh hearing
as well to um give our impact statements. So, yeah,
we're just trying to work something out right now. We're trying to figure it out. So, super proud of Aubrey. She got a
scholarship to a school in Texas and we're super proud of her and um just
goes to, you know, these children that have just I mean, it was so hard for her to get through this and and she still got a
full ride.

Wouldn’t it be something if none of the families attend the sentencing? BK has already stolen so much from these families. He needs to go away forever.

I just downloaded on Apple Books to read. I didn't realize it was coming out today!
