IMO Victim Impact Statements at sentencing will give voice to the murdered victim(s)/beloved family member(s) who no longer have a voice due to the senseless, absolutely horrific actions of the monster.
A time for the victims family member/s to give them a voice to be heard in open court, speak directly to the court/Judge, citizens of Idaho, and the monster IF they so choose to do so.
I don’t expect said monster to be affected by the statements nor show the slightest flinch of remorse, sorrow nor any emotion whatsoever really. A professed emotionless being who allegedly views humans as sacks of meat and has no feelings or emotions not even for his own family (which I personally believe is true), and who admittedly premeditated, ambushed, and slaughtered four defenseless young people in their own home, most of whom were asleep.
For what??? To see if killing someone (if initially intended one target) or multiple people at once would make him actually feel something????
Was rejected by and so hates pretty women and the men who can relate and hang out with them????
Thought he could get away with murdering someone/more than one person in blitz ambush attack and write a research paper/book about the mysterious, lightening quick, elusive, ingenious KBK (Ka-Bar Killer)???? Maybe all of the above??, possibly more?? Who really knows. Could be a combo of a couple and/or multiple motives. We’ll likely never know, not for a good long time anyways, if ever imo. The monster might not even fully know why/understand himself. IMO it boils down to likely as yet to be diagnosed and/or publicly disclosed very disordered person as in personality disordered/disordered thinking but imo it’s not only some PD or combination thereof he likely has, it takes someone totally deranged, maniacal, and evil to the core imo to be able to do what this confessed killer monster did to K,M,X,E. Of course there is no valid, logical, rational reason why nor any excuse for his evil actions that fateful early morning but I understand it’s only human nature to want to know the why?? I’m as curious as anyone. It’s just we don’t always get the answer to that imo very important question.
Yes it’s frustrating but really, if this monster ever does sit down for an interview for a book with KR or with investigators or criminal profiler professionals, does anyone really believe he will reveal the whole truth??? Personally, I’m very skeptical, as most of these killer monsters are imo master manipulators and tend to lie and embellish for any reason or no reason at all, sometimes just for shock value alone, and historically tend to blame everyone but themselves for their dastardly deeds-their traumatic childhood, they hate their Mother, or their Father, Siblings were mean to them, they were bullied by their peers etc, etc. and last but not least, their victim(s) made them do it. SMDH. Mind you, lots of people go through some of those same negative traumatic experiences yet never harm another soul, let alone violently murder someone(s).
Suffice to say the truth and most of these monsters are not friends, accountability is foreign concept to them, blame is usually the name of their game. IMO I still think had he not been caught, he’d have killed again, and again, and…so kudos to all LE involved for identifying and getting this stranger to the victims’ monster killer off the streets as fast as they did (with help from numerous stupid mistakes the killer made) before anyone else got hurt/killed.
IMO a person capable of such atrocity does not care one lick about what he did/the four innocent lives he took from this world nor how his actions affected his victims’ immediate families, the surviving roommates, and the wider circle of victims’-surviving roommates’ families, friends of the victims’, the community, his own family etc. So much collateral damage/victims he caused trauma and suffering to by deciding he had a right to take four beautiful lights out of this world.
Having said that, IF and a big IF he does appear to show any emotion at his sentencing or during, after victim impact statements, imo it will be insincere to say the least, a mask. Actually, I expect to see him sitting there motionless, robotic, with possible smirk on his face aka dupers delight which imo he’s sported at some other hearings. Nothing more, nothing less. He.does.not.care.about.anyone. Empty shell. Hollow. Vacant. Soulless.
At any rate, I’m glad to hear SG has reconsidered and will join his other family members’ and give a statement honoring Kaylee/giving her a voice at sentencing. And any of the other victims’ family members (Xana, Maddie) or the surviving victim roommates, friends and victims HJ and EA (if allowed) that choose to make victim impact statements, if it is cathartic and helps them in their personal grieving and healing journey, good on them. I also have so much respect for the Chapin family and their decision to not attend sentencing and as I understand will be spending the day as a family on their boat honoring, remembering, and celebrating Ethan’s life. A beautiful way to honor their Son and Brother. These families are all entitled to their own feelings and honoring their beloved Daughters’, Son, Sister, Brother, however they see fit, whatever works best for them in their individual lives and healing journey is up to them. The Grief journey is very personal, not a one size fits all so to speak. Each family member and victim will move through and process the stages of grief at their own individual pace and move on when they are ready. I wish all victims’ strength next Wednesday and hope through honoring their children/family member, friends, however they choose to do so, again, that it’s cathartic and gives them some sense of peace. I think SG will deliver a powerful statement and have faith he will not be lunging at the monster or trying to agitate him or anything like that. I think he’s well aware behavior like that won’t be tolerated and he’d be quickly removed from the courtroom. So I think he’ll keep his composure at least really hoping so, Kaylee needs him there speaking up for her. I noted that he seemed much more reserved and calmer in the last couple recent interviews I watched of him on NN and GMA so that gives me hope too that he will remain composed in court on Wednesday and while giving his statement.
I really just am in awe of all the families/victims’ of this horrendous crime and how they’ve remained brave and strong fighting for justice for their children/loved ones in the face of an evil monster that senselessly and viciously stole four beautiful souls from them and this earth where I’m sure they’d have all likely done great things that benefitted society.
There is no timeframe attached to the grieving process and each and every victim deals with and processes grief in their own way, in their own time. They all, all parents’ involved especially that lost and had to bury their precious children have been through a nightmare of epic proportions and I support them all in their devastation, grief, and personal healing journey’s.
Godspeed to the victims’ families and all other victims’ affected by this horrendous crime.
Good riddance to the monster.
All of the above IMHOO
RIP dear Kaylee, Maddie, Xana, and Ethan xx
