It's like giving a pacifier or drug to keep them calmer and quieter.

It's not exactly a privilege, imo, to watch the outside world on a screen while locked up in a cage, housed with the worst of the worst.

(Note to self: go take a walk, enjoy the sky and the freedom of movement.)

Just got back from my daily walk in the woods. I would miss that.

I assume (so may be wrong), but prisoners are probably somewhat limited on their internet activity. A guy like Kohberger, though, may be satisfied with having access to a lot of libraries, research papers, etc. He strikes me as the type who doesn't crave much social interaction.

Still, being a young-ish man, spending the rest of your natural life in jail is going to be a miserable experience. At least, I hope it is miserable for him. Every minute of it.

Are some of these people probergers thinking theyre waiting in line for a rock concert in their pathetic mind? If so, hope they can be respectful toward the loved ones of Madison, Kaylee, Xana and Ethan.
BK is a convicted murderer - quadruple killings.

30 minutes to go until we see this rotten waste of skin locked up until the day comes when his body is taken out of prison in a hardy cardboard box.

I can't imagine how emotional it's going to be. It's heartbreaking. I was in the position just short of two years ago where I had to think about a victim impact statement. A very evil pathetic excuse for a man commited horrendous crimes onto a very close loved one. IT was found guilty across the board and CPS asked me to do a victim impact statement on behalf of my family. I'll never forget how that made me feel - obviously a part of me wanted the court and the judge to know the impact that IT's selfish and evil actions had upon my family and how much it has essentially ruined my loved ones life but at the same time there was this feeling inside of me that just knew that in doing so, I would be playing into IT's sick and twisted fantasies. My words would very likely have brought IT satisfaction and IT would have, imo, got off on the pain and trauma, there was no win regardless of what I decided. Fate however decided for me and IT died in prison before sentencing. We were so angry, felt robbed and cheated of our perceived version of full justice. We were very fortunate however, to have an amazing judge who understood our pain and who quite controversially and very amicably conducted a posthumous sentencing, knowing that his words and the hefty sentence given would help heal us.
I believe Judge H will do everything he can to give the same level of potential healing to the families and surviving victims today 💔

What to know about Kohberger's sentencing

  • PLEA: Bryan Kohberger, who was facing trial next month in the 2022 fatal stabbings of four University of Idaho students, changed his plea to guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and burglary in the deaths of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin at an off-campus house.
  • AGREEMENT: As part of a deal approved this month by District Court Judge Steven Hippler in Boise, Kohberger admitted to the killings and waived his right to appeal in exchange for prosecutors agreeing not to seek a death sentence.
  • SENTENCE: Hippler is expected to sentence Kohberger, 30, to four consecutive life sentences for each murder count and 10 years in prison for the burglary charge.
  • VICTIMS: The victims' families and others involved in the case will be able to provide victim impact statements. Goncalves' mother told "TODAY" that she plans to address the court at a sentencing hearing, which is expected to last throughout the day.
  • EVIDENCE: Hippler last week vacated a gag order that prevented certain figures, including lawyers and law enforcement, from speaking publicly. Once Kohberger's sentencing ends, the judge will determine which documents may be unsealed, potentially disclosing new evidentiary information in a case in which even the motive for the crime may never be known.

I'm here to watch him get sentenced. After following this case forever, at last he'll be where he belongs, unable to hurt anyone else.

My thoughts are with the victims' families. And Kohberger's parents and siblings.

I am very grateful to the MPD, MSP, FBI and the Latah county prosecutors. They did incredible work to arrest the perpetrator, with the end result being an unambiguous guilty plea. Amazing work by everyone involved.
I think the planned press conference after today's sentencing is a great idea.

Rest in peace Maddie, Kaylee, Xana and Ethan. Precious innocent souls back to earth.

if anyone watched B Entin's tour of the Idaho super MAX prison yesterday..you can see that this sentence is a death sentence. he might as well be dead, yes he gets an iPad and a TV , but he will
always be shackled or chained..even in the social areas, he will be caged in every situation for his 1 hour out of his cell.

I am convinced he will try to hurt someone eventually. he will want to outsmart their system.

I don't think he should be in the Idaho prison...they will definitely try to kill him on the inside...mOO
Disgusting that BK will have the luxury of an iPad and TV for entertainment.

Based on what I've heard from SG and others who are local to Idaho, they take what BK did as a personal affront to their home state. I imagine there are people like that in line.

A random little post from me but this feels very climactic today. It's been two and a half years, and this is the case that brought me to WS. In fact, this case sparked my interest in the study of criminology, and now I'm expecting to start my masters in criminal justice soon. Thank you all for engaging in such lovely discussions, and making me feel a little less crazy about my outrage at certain points. RIP Ethan, Xana, Maddie and Kaylee. You deserved better.

MOO.

@cathyrusson

Update on how the process went this morning. Once the courthouse opened, they gave each of us a ticket with a number on it. Thankfully, that meant I didn't have to bolt up 4 flights of stairs to beat the crowd . They have chairs in this large media overflow room with numbers corresponding with the number on your ticket. They still haven't said how many will get into the courtroom. There are about 100 people here. I'm #33 and looks like I will get in.

Those people are the type of people that imo have a right to be there, same as the true crime vets or those who want to see justice being served.

It's the gossipy grifty rumour slinging conspiracy laying foolish tiktokers and YouTubers that I believe should not be there. They aren't there for justice or for the victims, they're there for themselves and their pockets. Knocks me sick tbh.

I saw myself in these girls. Something in the early days which utterly floored me was that I had one of Maddie Mogen's halloween costume pictures saved to my Pinterest board. I looked through it one day and saw the image of her in an angel costume, and realised I'd saved it a year before the murders had happened. I wanted to wear it for halloween myself. Made me sick to my stomach - I knew I recognised her face.
