I wasn’t sure where Murphy had been located when found, but I thought he had been locked in a room. It seems he was taken in by animal control and found in a pound across town at one point until KGs boyfriend got him out. Is that right?

If Murphy was outside and the front door was open soon after the murders- he may have been present during the attacks, and walked through blood. Was he in KG’s room and BK let him out?
Murphy is a Labradoodle, I think, smart but not at all aggressive.
I assume dogs can tell if a person is deceased- or at least that something is wrong.
And feel fear, and a need to alert others that something is wrong.

IMO
So
He was in Kaylee's room, which had an opening to the balcony....i believe the outside may have been the balcony - whether he "got out" onto the balcony or the window was partially open and thus his bark was very vocal outside - is the question. I think Kaylee's door was closed.

From reading the supplements, after Kaylee and Maddie got home they were all up in Kaylee's room while she was getting ready for bed - it may have been her intention to sleep in her own bed with murphy...but sometime after dylan and bethany went downstairs she migrated into maddies bed - it maybe that she was keeping maddie - having a last "girl talk" while maddie was going to sleep and drifted off/dozed herself and did not return to her own room before the a-hole arrived.

just my thoughts of what may have happened.

IANAL, but there have been cases where states did that sort of thing. If a prisoner is too risky or problematic, a state can make arrangements to move him to a prison in another state.

George Wagner IV who helped murder 8 members of the Rhoden and Gilley families, was sent from the Ohio prison system to Maryland. That’s a much longer trip for his family to make.
Charlie Adelson did get moved from Florida to another state because they were worried about gang affiliations.

Agree- they likely would not transfer him to a PA prison while the media is high, but I’m not sure how long it will take for the media to slow.
I was thinking about logical reasons to move BK to a prison in Penn rather than keep him in Idaho.
There may be a good reason- he may be developing a following there in Idaho.
If he has sick fans who travel to Idaho to do what people do- drive around the neighborhood where the house was, go to the club, drive the path he drove, visit his appt complex in Pullman, then they may put that prison on their tourism list.
I don’t know what rules there would be for visitors-
If he is in Penn, it may help to break up that pattern of media and such in Idaho.
I do not know the distance between where he will be and Moscow, but I do know there are other sites there people would visit. Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow are there, as is the home where Tylee and JJ were killed.

For me it is a bit soon to visit any of those sites- but I have driven the route of Lee Harvey Oswald to the movie theater, and seen the jail where Bonnie and Clyde were housed, and I found the old homes in Salem, Mass where the witch trials took place both terrifying and fascinating. So, no judgement unless you are a nut and bother people.

I do feel for BK’s family, his parents, his sisters, they may be getting attention they do not want. People are weirdos and don’t use good judgement.

IMO
Lori is still in Arizona, she just got sentenced for Charles Vallow's murder today and the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreau.

Interview with Kohberger in PA-#157
1. WatchGuard Event: NA

Case number added to WG: NA
2. Evidence
NA-video/audio and transcript of interview added to case file 3. Narrative
On December 29, 2022, ISP Detective Sergeant Gilbertson, FBI Special Agent Shirley and I arrived in Albrightsville, PA in preparation for the service of the arrest and search warrants for Kohberger and his family's residence at
, Albrightsville, PA. After several coordination meetings, Det. Gilbertson, SA Shirley and I drove to the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks at Stroudsburg, PA to await the arrival of Kohberger after his arrest and to interview him upon his arrival.
At approximately 0200 hours on December 30, 2022, Kohberger was brought to the PSP Stroudsburg Barracks and placed in an interview room. The interview was recorded on the built-in video system at the barracks as well as Det. Gilbertson's pocket recorder. Det. Gilbertson and I were the interviewers present. This is a summary of our interview with Kohberger and is not a verbatim transcript of the interview. A full interview transcription will be attached to this case file.
Det. Gilbertson and I began by introducing ourselves and stating which agencies we represented. When I stated who I was, Kohberger stated "you do look familiar". Det. Gilbertson and I prepared our note taking materials and Det. Gilberston read Kohberger his Miranda Rights Advisement. Det. Gilberston asked Kohberger if he understood his rights to which he replied he did. After collecting Kohberger's personal information and inquiring about any medications, Det. Gilbertson and I began to speak to Kohberger. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger about the SWAT operation at the house to which Kohberger replied he was concerned about his parents and his dog.

Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger if he was going to Washington State University to which he replied he was. We made small talk with Kohberger about sports for some time. Kohberger stated he didn't follow WSU football much but was a baseball fan. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger if he had only been at WSU for one semester. Kohberger confirmed this and said he came to WSU with his father on July 1st. Kohberger then went on to say he was a first-year PHD student in criminal justice and criminology. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger what the process was to apply for a PhD. Kohberger stated he applied to two places: UC Irvine and WSU. Kohberger said he was going to graduate with his Masters in Criminal Justice from De Sales and was inspired. Kohberger then asked if it was OK to engage in small talk like we were to which we replied it was. After briefly mentioning he was strengthened by the fact his mother and father were OK, Kohberger said he applied to the two aforementioned schools because they did not require the GRE exam. Kohberger then spoke about the GRE for a brief time and then said he was accepted by WSU.
Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger what lead him down the road of becoming a professor. Kohberger stated it was because he loved being in college and stated knowledge was far more important to him than money. Kohberger added WSU had a good program to study under, and then said "you guys know all about this more than likely". Kohberger then asked questions about University of Idaho and other Idaho Universities before stating he didn't know much about Idaho or Washington and had not left the "tri state area much". Kohberger then returned to speaking about his focus on learning and how he thought he could obtain his doctorate degree. Kohberger then said he recently returned home to see his family.
Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger about his time at De Sales University. Kohberger spoke for some time about his time at Northampton Community College and De Sales. Kohberger then spoke about how he became interested in criminal justice and stated he thought about being a police officer but did not want to make that commitment unless he was absolutely sure. Kohberger then continued to speak about his education and universities. Kohberger also spoke more about the process to get into a PhD program and how competitive it can be.
Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger about his move to Washington. Kohberger said he drove across country and wanted the challenge of driving cross country and experiencing it with his father. Kohberger then said he took a different route back home with his father for Christmas Break to avoid snow. Kohberger spoke about his travels and the risks of such travels in winter. Kohberger then began to speak about the beauty of the environment and its relationship to God and a higher power. We spoke about this for some time and Kohberger said he was raised Christian but was always a skeptic except when confronted with the beauty of the natural world. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger if he had ever been to the Pacific Northwest prior to coming to WSU, and Kohberger said he had not.
I asked Kohberger if he and his father made any stops along their way back to Pennsylvania. He told me they visited Colorado but the main goal was to just drive. Kohberger then told a story about seeing an unmarked police car near Kansas City speed up behind him, catch up to another vehicle, turn on its emergency lights, then drive away. Kohberger thought this was strange and was unsure why it occurred.
Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger about the job he mentioned. Kohberger stated he was a teaching assistant. Kohberger then talked about how busy he was and how the funding package that comes along with being a teaching assistance is

what makes the extra work worth it. Kohberger then discussed ongoing projects with WSU PD and Pullman PD. Kohberger spoke more about how being a TA is essentially assisting the professors and the department. Kohberger stated he did not get to assist with teaching with the exception of assisting with office hours. Det. Gilberston asked Kohberger if he would be a TA again next semester and Kohberger replied he would.
Kohberger then stated he understood why were engaging in small talk but would appreciate it if we explained to him what he was doing there. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger why he thought we were there. He said he wanted Det. Gilbertson to tell him. Det. Gilbertson said we were there because of what occurred in Moscow but did not provided any further detail. Det. Gilbertson asked Kohberger if he watched the news. Kohberger said "I watch the news". Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger why he thought I looked familiar. Kohberger said he wasn't sure and stated I had a familiar face and looked like someone he used to know. Det. Gilbertson then said we were there because of what happened in November jut off the University of Idaho Campus. Det. Gilberston asked Kohberger if he knew what that was to which Kohberger replied "of course". When prompted to elaborate, Kohberger said it was the incident we had been investigating for "how long has it been?" Kohberger said there were probably several incidents, and then said he was aware of a homicide because of a WSU alert he received. Det. Gilbertson asked when Kohberger received the alert. Kohberger said he wasn't sure but thought it was sometime the previous month. Det. Gilberston confirmed that was why were there and asked if Kohberger wanted to talk about that. Kohberger replied "well, I think I would need a lawyer". Kohberger then asked if we would explain to him what we were there for specifically and added he was tired. Det. Gilberston again stated we were investigating the homicides of the four students and that we had questions and things we hoped Kohberger would help us understand.
Kohberger sat back and said he had the utmost respect for law enforcement but stated it was a constitutional right to speak to an attorney. Det. Gilbertson affirmed this. Kohberger then reengaged and said the only thing he heard of from Moscow was an alert that came to his phone. Kohberger then said he wanted to talk to an attorney. Det. Gilbertson said we would stop now because Kohberger wanted to speak to an attorney. Kohberger then asked where his parents were and were his dog was. Kohberger reengaged again and asked what questions we would have for him. Det. Gilbertson then asked Kohberger again if he understood his rights and asked specifically what Kohberger wished. Kohberger asked what specifically we wanted to talk to him about and the reason. I told Kohberger he invoked his Fifth Amendment Rights and we were not going to ask him any further questions. Kohberger asked again for the reason he was there but added he would like to talk to an attorney. At this point, we concluded our interview with Kohberger and left the room.

who engages in small talk for that long when cops have you in an interview room? I would be busting at the chops to find out why I was there and they would be getting short replies to anything else

"Harmless"???

Easy for them to say. I would never be satisfied with that answer.
I do not in any way mean to disparage law enforcement-but they like to be in charge. I’ve had a few interactions in my life, and I’ve found them to expect to control the situation. As a private citizen, they will ask questions and make decisions but they don’t want my input. I have seen people talk poorly about local law enforcement on social media sites, not a good idea. I always thought that the Goncalves family really tried to be involved in the investigation right away and I wondered if that annoyed LE.

Chatty Cathy talking about school, his love of learning, being challenged by driving, belief or not in God, his job as a TA, shooting the breeze.

Just wondering, now that IDOC #163214 has pleaded guilty to all charges, and has been sentenced to life in prison with no opportunity for parole, does that have any bearing on the separate investigation into the source(s) of any leaks that were revealed in the Dateline episode? After reading the James Patterson book, I do not feel that anything of substance was leaked to that author, at all. Does this investigation continue, has it been completed, or does it just silently go away? Will we ever know anything more about it?
I was wondering about that but hopefully it's a moot point now with Dateline. Dateline airing it before trial may have helped influence Kolhberger to plead guilty. I was 100% convinced when I saw the CCTV footage of his car fleeing the house.

i disagree, because if he was using that then he would have had to have used the blade as the handle - at least for some of it to be really effective - which means. 1. he would have had to have protected himself from injury from the blade...and if that was the sheath...2. then the sheath would have had much evidence of blood from that particular part of the attack - which was not reported at all - and would have of course led le to conclude that it was on during part of the attack - and by testing whose blood, they could conclude who was being attacked using the knife handle as a weapon and the sheaf as protector of assailant. Unless he was wearing chainmail gloves i cannot imagine how he could have assured his hands were protected from the blade.
Someone posted how a person uses the butt of the knife as a weapon also by holding the handle differently. This knife is designed to protect the hand from being cut. If you go back in the thread you'll be able to see the image.

Standard poodles are vocal and loud. No open door required to be heard outside. Source: owning four over the years since I was twelve. Bailey looks like he got a lot of the poodle traits.

An alternate location to house BK is not optional-- it's dependent on Idaho's Interstate Compact Agreement (enacted by the State Legislature).

The same also creates the possibility for offenders to serve parole or probation in states outside of the state where they were convicted. Since there's a cost involved, this generally operates as a 'prisoner exchange.' I previously posted the link for this info in prior thread.

BK should feel fairly safe being housed in Idaho for one specific reason -- Idaho is a death penalty state. However, I could see BK being transferred one day on behalf of the victims. Who in Moscow wouldn't sleep better knowing he was as far away as possible...
He should have to spend the rest of his miserable life in Idaho in the hellhole prison in the desert, not in PA where his family can easily visit him IMO!

Of course. He had to agree to ask for a deal. My point was that the timing was perfect--such a narrow window to avoid protracted negotiations over stuff like "where is the knife?" It was do the deal right now or go to trial. And I give AT the credit for the timing.
They didn't need the knife, and I just read that they didn't even need the sheath. They did have him on CCTV footage fleeing the house in his car.

“To this, [the woman] said Kohberger asked what she thought would be the worst way to die,” lead detective Brett Payne wrote in his report. When the woman answered with a knife, she said Kohberger asked, “like a Ka Bar?”

A Ka-Bar is a large combat knife, which authorities said was used by Kohberger to fatally stab the four students. Prosecutors said Kohberger purchased the knife, sheath and sharpener on Amazon in March 2022. A Ka-Bar sheath, containing his DNA, was ultimately found next to one of his victims.

The woman told the detective that she didn’t know what a Ka-Bar is and so looked it up online. She eventually stopped talking to Kohberger, however, “because his questions made her uncomfortable,” according to the report.

Yes it was eerie reading that but in Bethany's statement she said that initially they'd all been in Kaylee's room so maybe KG started off in her own bed before moving to MM's room and they watched a show together?

Re watching ' Baby Daddy' to go to sleep
I don't have the LEO's report to hand. The one which covers the scene and whether there was a TV still playing in MM's room or a laptop still open etc or what time they both last called Jack
its bethany that watched the baby daddy - its clarified in her other statement

I had a “peeping Tom” years ago, he would take a cut log stump and face it upright to stand on and look into the closed blinds of my bedroom. The rest of my house is a lot of glass and no curtains. The log kept getting taken from the woodpile and put under the window. The cops knew who it was, said he was harmless and had “issues”. They spoke to him and it stopped. I guess the inability to look in was the draw.

This is weird but in 2025 why not call these people what they are? Peeping Tom is like a gentle comment. How about opportunistic sexual deviant voyeur? JMOO

Was there any additional info released about bloody footprints? I would think they would be all over
not that i have read so far - amazing isn't it- there were "large" sized footprints in the back yard leading to and from the back door - which were photographed, measured and casts taken - i only read about them in a supplement would love to see the evidence photographs!

I suspect that his mother still cares about BK but I do not think BK has any normal emotions IMO.

BK cares about himself. As all narcissists do. He probably doesn't give a crap about his family. But, he is definitely smart enough to realize he was going to be in prison for life, and having someone outside putting money on his commissary fund is what BK needed. I have no doubt his mother is putting cash on his account. As evidenced by her presence at his sentencing hearing.

If she didn't care about him, she wouldn't have shown up.
