It's hard for me to picture that 'Defendant' wouldn't keep the thing loaded if he was going to have a Glock 22 handgun beside his bed.
I know people that never have loaded guns. However, the ammo is very close by. Some can tell me exactly how long in seconds it takes them to load and get into stance. They practice it.

Thanks!
Sorry to drag this topic hahaha
But it shows the cultural and language differences :)
Where I live a basement is literally a cellar,
it is underground/a room below ground level in a house.
It is a storage place, housewives can keep pasteurized food in jars and bottles of wine there hehe.
There are only small windows close to ceiling for ventilation and a bit of light.
So when you look up you can see feet/legs of a passer-by.
Imagine living there hehe
Like in horror films,
banished to the basement....ummm...cellar!!
Jeez!!! 😵‍💫
We have basements/cellars as you describe as well. Sometimes people will "finish" them to make them functional; others leave them as the dark creepy cellar with maybe some storage.

So we have the completely underground basements, and the first floor "basements" that could be from a split level type construction or built that way depending on the landscape of the property (hills and such.)

True. In America all those spaces have been remodeled to living or recreating space. In the case of Kohberger it looks more like just a sunken first floor.

Depends on the avAilability. Takes under a second to load a ready mag into a hand gun.

Following on from your speculation which doesn't seem far fetched to me, even though the gadget was not found at the home 6 weeks later,

what do people think?

- he bought a blue light kit in advance ( After all, he'd bought the knife in advance. March 2022 while at De Sales) or
- he ' took' one from De Sales ( DS had a ' Murder House' and students typically used them there)
( either way LE found no purchase records and am speculating on the basis that it was used during the initial clean-ups in WA and then buried/dumped before he drove home to PA. He has a history of thieving even though he had no adult crim record. )

One of many versions, lots of options at various websites
This is just as an example of cheapest version, am not suggesting that he bought it

Great post!

I thought of the DeSales Murder House, too, and figured he may have practiced using the blue light and glasses for one of his courses at DeSales (perhaps CJ 361 Forensic Investigation—for which the murderer wrote the Crime-scene Scenario final, or the Ramsland course that used the Murder House). However, I thought he might have been required to purchase his own crime lab supplies for the course, or that the lab materials were provided with the course as part of the tuition. But you’re right, LE would know this, too.

I wonder if DeSales or Washington State University would report to LE any missing crime lab supplies. Perhaps a Criminal Justice Department would be inclined to do so—and to figure out the culprit. Heck, solving such a theft could be a course project.

Here is the thing. Every day people who work in hospitals mitigate transfer before and after work. Coverall drop into a hefty clean - including the slip on Vans, into clean vans or other next to the bag wipe exposed skin - wipes in bag, tie off first bag second wipe down into some short and a T. Toss all
In the second clean bag tie off, maybe toss in third clean bag - sit on a bag to depart.
Then obsessively clean every groove in your car for 6 weeks.
Looks like he got rid of the gear shift knob anyway.
I agree—It’s highly possible the murderer left no trace due to his blood spatter mitigation, but still obsessively cleaned his car and apartment just in case.

But in his Crime-scene Scenario Final, he specifically addressed finding trace evidence (blood) that might otherwise be missed by using a blue light and yellow glasses. I think the murderer’s obsessive mind would make him check at least once for such trace evidence using tools he knew LE would use. A blue light and yellow glasses aren’t expensive, and he may have learned to use them at DeSales.

IMO

I want to walk everyone through an example of how erroneous information continues to be pervasive in the #Idaho4 case against #BryanKohberger, who was sentenced to four consecutive life prison terms last month for the murders. Join me.
1/

Last week, I interviewed lead case prosecutor Bill Thompson one-on-one by phone. He shared exclusively with me that #BryanKohberger was found to have two ID cards of past female acquaintances in his possession, in a glove in a box in his PA home.https://idahostatesman.com/news/local/crime/article311513829.html
2/

From that detail, several other outlets wrote articles, many of which didn't cite my work as the origin of that info. One of those was @wearesinclair's @TND reporter @MallonElaine. The story also quoted Thompson in an @ABC report from
@KaynaWhitworth.

The @wearesinclair Broadcast Group includes @LiveonKIMA-TV in Yakima, WA. It picked up and posted the national story to its website. Other network affiliates did the same, again, without citing the origin of the new information.

The @nypost's @post_shane_ then saw @LiveonKIMA's report and wrote their own version. Except he erred in identifying the IDs as having come from the glove box of Kohberger's car, *which they did not.* They were in a glove in a box inside the PA home. https://nypost.com/2025/08/01/us-news/bryan-kohberger-kept-creepy-keepsakes-from-women-stashed-in-glove-box-report

In that story, he also linked to and cited a prior @nypost report from 2023, which has ultimately been proven false, including through my latest interview with Thompson. It stated one of the two IDs was that of one of the #Idaho4 victims. *It wasn't.* https://nypost.com/2023/04/07/bryan-kohberger-had-id-tied-to-idaho-killings-sources

That past inaccurate @nypost report originated with and cited uncorroborated "exclusive" information from
@NewsNation's @ChrisCuomo that one of the ID cards was one of the #Idaho4. Once more, *it wasn't.* https://newsnationnow.com/crime/idaho-college-killings/bryan-kohberger-license-found-idaho-killings

This is all to say sources of information, namely where people go for news, remains critical. It would be very easy to walk away from these stories presuming an ID found in #BryanKohberger's glove box was one of the #Idaho4, *which is false.* Deeply scrutinize news sources.

Well worth a listen, imo. Joseph Scott Morgan as always respectful towards victims and their loved ones. He's knowledgeable and compassionate.

It could have been unloaded due to his parents rules. Not that he cares about rules, but I think he might have wanted to unalive himself. The one person he loves the most is him. Just moo

I am speculating that we are misunderstanding about the flash and bang noise BF thought was a firecracker. Maybe he took a photo? Old school Polaroid camera? Could that have been what he was carrying? JMOO

If you watch the video it makes a weird noise and flash.

Crime scene documentation?! This reminds me of that weird saying, think horses not zebras.

You have to look at the bag on the third photo to get a sense of the angle of it.
I don't know... We may be misunderstanding the flash and bang BF thought was a firecracker, but a Polaroid camera is one of the last things that comes to mind. I don't need to watch the video because I'm old enough to know exactly what they look and sound like because I had one! LOL 🤣 They also make a funny whir.

I also think it's unlikely because a knife, sheath, camera, and whatever object he was seen holding in front of him with both hands would be too much to bring to the scene of a murder. Cuz you know... he might accidentally leave something behind. ;)

But seriously, I think that because it's just to much to carry and deal with for a deed like that. He'd have to put things down in order to carry out the 4 murders. I would love to know what it is though! Think we'll ever find out? Will he talk? Send in Keith Morrison!

To be fair
...in a glovebox sounds more NORMAL
than...
in a glove in a box

Oh wait, we are talking about BK
Ooops!

Re Kevin Fixler's thread up there

It has to be so frustrating for the Idaho Statesman team
To regularly have your hard work ripped -off by others and then to watch them also get the details wrong.
Glad that he's speaking out about it.

As for the podcasters & youtubers, don't know if anybody else has noticed but you can really tell the difference between those who make $ from the case but have made the effort to go through and read the MPD uploads & watch the LE & Thompson interviews. ( It really doesn't take long to skim read on that MPD Google Drive. )

and those who just can't be bothered but who are still pushing out content on the case

I wonder if any turned up missing during class. I am sure if they did, it would be almost unnoticed at the time.

We now know XK got her DD at the front door. We still don't know whether she retrieved it through the front door or left by way of the slider and sneaked around front.

We can guess that BF had no idea that XK ordered DD nor that XK was awake and moving around.

Given that there's no evidence that the felon went to the lowest level so IMO whatever BF heard must have been noise generated by the DD order. DDD taking a photo to confirm delivery. Maybe her phone was set to flash and had a sound effect. Perhaps XK disconnected her earbuds and what BF heard was actual on TikTok.

Out of a sound sleep in an otherwise quiet house, even a little sound might register big.

A glove in a box with women's ID in it sounds like a souvenir of prowling.

DD lady was also carrying a torch and apparently this can be seen in one of the surveillance cam sequences -one which we haven't seen

( I think I read this in one of the first batches of MPD documents)

Sure!
But even we here
were talking about IDs in a car glovebox ;)
If IRC.
And I'm talking about experienced sleuths posting on this case,
not journalists.

But I cannot, for the life of me, remember the number of the thread
(as there are over hundred of them).

I never thought about that before-was it easier for Xana to just use the slider and walk around to grab the bag, or did she go down the stairs and open the front door to retrieve it?
