I think families of daughters murdered with or without a connection to the murderer should pursue national legislation- there should be aggravating circumstances in many cases it is a Hate Crime.

It is happening too often, is sick, and looks exactly like young women are seen a prey.

How many minds and hearts that could have impacted our future have been stolen because a young man developed hate for young women? Way too many

Young women in college have always been victims of sexual assault- when I was in college it was 1/6, now it is 1/3. So when you look at a population of 100 young college women- 33 of them will be victims of sexual assault. That is madness

I think some young men are under the impression that young women have an intention to hurt them, and that young women should have all the power about their lives taken away. Women are just now getting power in many places. Why that power is seen as a threat is baffling to me.

I’m a survivor, as is my daughter. So my opinion matters. It is infuriating
If you ask- my guess is all of us know many women who are survivors.

It's great to hear the word Survivors verses Victim, because I believe that is the ultimate evolution of a very traumatic event.

Truly sorry that anything bad happened to you and your daughter. It never should have.

Only other alternative is BT is very forgetful or not over the detail so I'll have to assume they'd deemed it to be minor value in arguing their case.

That house literally bled Ethan’s blood down the outside wall, how horrific is that!

I think the house stood too long. Once evidence was collected it should have been torn down.
They boarded it up, put a fence around it but its location and height meant it was visible.

I agree—the fact that Thompson didn’t know off-hand the identity of the underlined book indicates it wasn’t crucial evidence for trial. I, like you, though, really want to know!

I haven't read any where that DM and XK knew that Maddie and Kaylee were sleeping in Maddie's bedroom.

We've read DM, BF, KG, and MM went to KG's room to hangout. And KG was getting ready for bed.

We also know BF and MM took Murphy out to go potty. When they came in Bethany went to her cupboard and grabbed a bag of chips went to her room and on her iPad watched Baby Daddy on Hulu. Maddie came down stairs and asked her if Murphy was with her/she couldn't find him. Told her no. She shut everything off, locked her door, and went to bed.

DM went to her room.

Actually it sounds like KG started out in her own bed, then later went into MM's room.

So, no, It doesn't sound like DM and XK knew that Maddie and Kaylee were sleeping in Maddie's bedroom.

We know that Xana had ordered food, true. But we don't know that she put the packaging in the kitchen. We can't see the date on it. There is so much crap in that kitchen we have no idea how long that sack was there.

If the food packaging in the kitchen was not from that night, then Xana heard noise from Maddie and Kaylee when she was in her bedroom. She left her bedroom and walked to the stairs next to the kitchen. She called out. Kohberger went after her.

Finally caught up here, and nearly done reading through the released files.
I wrote a few things down as I was going through the files, one question answered (the IDs), others not.

One thing I wonder about is who was the thumbs up grotesque selfie for? Himself or his family, as someone had written that perhaps the shirt was a b'day gift from them and he was showing mom how it fit.

Another thing is as we are presently discussing, the underline in a book pg 118. A person will usually only underline in a book something which is important to them.

Was the shoe print seen with Amido black #163214's? I wonder if it could have been HJ's after he went upstairs and checked pulses.

In the files #206 Brett Payne wrote about items he photographed in the trunk of the Elantra. One item was Cartman brand red road triangles. People leaving reviews state they put them on campers, horse trailers, big trucks. I see them on Amish buggies and farm equipment where I live. Is this a common item for people to have in their trunk in case of a breakdown? I thought maybe the inmate bought them to place behind his car while he was burying his kill kit. Wouldn't be good if someone didn't see his car parked on the side of the road and hit it. How would he explain a bloody KaBar?

Last, in #208 Payne detailed their purchase of the identical items from Amazon that the murderer purchased, specifically the knife/sheath and sharpener. Then in #210 Payne wrote that he brought the knife in a lock box to the medical examiner to determine if that type knife could cause the wounds on the victims. It could. So I just want to applaud Law Enforcement's efforts in solving this case. I thought this was brilliant. And it also answers the question I had about the time in court when the Judge or BT,I can't remember who it was, referenced a knife in a box; I wondered if they had found the knife and we just didn't know about it.

My take, is that she wanted to enlist MM's help in calling and texting Jake. As a matter of fact when we compare times, calls and texts----we know MM called (or text now I can't remember) BF. M00 is she was seeing if BF would call Jake. Maybe he would pick up if a different number called him.

Seeing that KG wanted Jake to come over they would have stayed in her room.

Again my own opinion but I think KG and MM shared alot of things back and forth. That being said, M00 there were her things in MM's room that ended up all bloody.

I'm sure Xana put that sack in the kitchen. Just not sure when. That kitchen counter was a stock pile for everything. My point is we have discussed many times that we don't have a particular time stamp or date stamp from that sack. Either we can't see it or it's not there.

We found out from LE ( Gilbertson) yesterday that he had a regular habit of taking selfies. They found a ton of them on his phone. ( Another problem for the Prosecution, it wasn't just taking a selfie that morning) Interviewer didn't follow up iirc - so who did he send these too?

Was that within the series of purchases he'd made in case he had a tyre flat? I'd wondered if he was going to fake replacing a tyre as an excuse to park up somewhere but in some rural places that means locals will stop and offer help so might be self-defeating. ( They do that where we live)

Bill Thompson himself addressed this in his hour-long interview with The Idaho Stateman investigative reporter Kevin Fixler, which Fixler recounts in a Courtroom Confidential video. Here’s my summary that I posted previously:

• Referring to the fact that the sheets were pulled back on Kaylee’s bed, Fixer asked Thompson if it’s possible that Kaylee was sleeping in her own room and then went into Maddie‘s room after hearing the commotion. Thompson said that is not what his observation of the scene showed. Both girls were underneath the covers in Maddie’s bed, in their pajamas (indicating they were both in the bed when the murderer entered Maddie’s room).

So Kaylee may have started out in her own bed, but she apparently fell asleep in Maddie’s bed before the two were brutally murdered (perhaps after attempting to reach her ex-boyfriend by phone with Maddie).

I am just jumping off here because you mentioned the food sack. While I am not a DD type of person, when I was in college I was definitely a JITB person. The tacos were cheap eats. (Taco Bell was a favorite as well) The bags either ended up in my car or the kitchen table or the kitchen counter until such time as I got around to cleaning them up (or someone else got the cleaning bug) usually the next day, but during busy times they'd stay a week. Strangely, the contents were usually gone and trashed, but the bag remained (I think because I thought I'd use it for something else.) My car could get pretty bad in a week because the food packaging was always in the bag if I ate in there. If I didn't have any spare hands, then the bag(s) remained in the car until I did have spare hands on exit.

While I, personally, believe that is the DD bag from that night and I also believe it was moved around by investigators, I don't rule out that that particular bag could have been from another day because my life experience is not a neat and orderly one. I don't, however, think Xana placed the bag behind the sink. That is a crazy place to put a paper bag, unless there was no room in the trash can (possible).

If I recall correctly, the 1st floor was originally a porch. It was enclosed. The third floor was added on.

And there was some weird construction to get the 4 bedrooms, baths, and closets to work. That's why the blood leaked out of Xana's room down the side of the house. They had to build it to fit around the existing structure.

I'd like to know the story behind the condemnation of the house and who owns the property now.

The number of cases where juries visit the actual crime scenes is vanishingly small. In reality, most crime scenes are released within hours, days at most, and are sanitised of the evidence of crime, either by cleaning and remodeling or by the extreme of demolition. In this case, the demolition was agreed upon after all items of evidentiary value were documented and recovered from the home. The house itself was toxic with biological materials from the homicides and chemicals from the crime scene processing. Jury members would have had to wear protective gear to enter, and the house itself was very changed from the night of the crime.

The only crime I can recall a jury actually visiting the scene in recent years was Murdaugh, which was an outdoor scene.
