Porepunkah shooting: Two officers dead and another wounded after shooting at High Country property, Victoria, Australia #2

I can only see one mobile camera unit, next to the cars @Lucy.D. Are they both in the South West view?
Sorry, what I noticed was another car had joined the two cars you saw that were parked at the shed next to the camera seen by the airfield's SW view. It's perhaps only me that believes there is a second police camera stationed where the night light is in the NW view.

But that's not the confusing part :)

What I find extremely strange is having possibly two transportable police cameras on the airfield road so close together with so much attention being paid to them by police. I can see no reason for them being there whatsoever.

MOO - definitely not. If the police are saying that people are 'hiding' information, it would be because they already know they are 'hiding' information. They would not be mistaking that for a general dislike of authority.

Also, my guess is the 'dislike of authority' you are referring to is probably 'uniformed officers' and not homicide detectives, forensics, administrative support, human resources, search and rescue, the k9 squad, helicopter pilots etc etc.

I meant all types of authority, including non uniform police.

Moo. ..some people move to rural areas because they like the privacy and live and let live attitude. So the people are just more likely not to want to be involved. Not because they know anything....moo. I live rural Canada it seems to be the way it is out here.

Imo if Dezi did have an escape plan he probably only kept it to himself because he would be paranoid that the police would torture it out of those closest to him.

That would be very selfish of him. What if he died and his family had to get to safety, in some other situation. Whatever safety a hideout is supposed to hold, that is.

imo

Fair enough. Either way, I'd highly doubt the police are misinterpreting the reason some people may not be forthcoming, as being because they have a general dislike for authority as opposed to having something to hide. They have experts dealing with both types of behaviour every day.

Well, he is a very selfish person.

Police do strange things IMO - but this carry on must take the cake.
I think the light at the left of your screenshot at 18:51 were car headlights because there was a car there earlier with its lights on. They don't seem to be there now.
I think police are doing this just for my benefit because they know how much it's doing my head in!
@Marg944 could you give us your thoughts about what could now be three cameras on the airfield which attracts so much attention from police during the day?

The ABC understands the photos were taken in recent days by someone with permission to be on the property.

In some of the photos, a Honda CR-V can be seen with its windows smashed in.

It is unknown whether the damage and disorder around the property was in place before the shooting, or if it resulted from the multiple police searches.

I’ve been looking at it too. It has now gone……. Crazy!
Down to one light from three on the SW angle now!
It's like they're watching us through their camera and we're watching them through ours.
Like Watching You Watching Me :)

‘We’ve got no tourists’: small businesses caught up in Australia’s largest manhunt struggle as aid announced

Victorian government pledges up to $2.5m to help visitor economy in alpine region as search for alleged Porepunkah killer Dezi Freeman continues.

The Victorian government has announced a support package for tourism operators and small businesses caught up in Australia’s largest manhunt.

The government announced on Monday that as much as $2.5m would be paid to support the visitor economy in Porepunkah, Bright and surrounding region, as the search for alleged police killer Dezi Freeman edged towards a fourth week.

The government support package would include $5,000 grants for eligible businesses that have experienced significant disruptions and revenue losses following the incident.

It would also include financial support for the Alpine shire council and the local business chamber to support activities and events, tourism material to boost visitor numbers, and funding to support longer term tourism in the region.”

Revealed: The frantic moment Dezi Freeman's wife and kids fled across a field to escape - after the crazed sovereign citizen gunned down three cops at their makeshift home

“What began as a standard warrant service soon turned into a bloodbath that left two officers dead and sparked a 450-strong manhunt that may have been focused in the wrong place.

And in a chilling twist that police only discovered hours after the shootout, Freeman's family fled to a secret hiding place, which threw off the search and gave him a crucial head start to slip away undetected.

While there has been widespread criticism of how he managed to obtain the gun with eight other officers nearby, Daily Mail can confirm that after entering the bus via the window, Thompson's body would not have been visible from the outside.

Freeman then fled on foot with his wife, teenage son and two-year-old, making it almost impossible for even the most experienced marksman to get a clear shot without endangering others.

As he made his escape, an unnamed officer was shot in the leg and barely able to move. He took cover beneath the bus and remained hidden there for almost an hour.

It is not known if the third officer was shot by Freeman or was caught in the crossfire of the shootout. Freeman is so far only wanted in relation to the death of two officers.

According to Daily Mail investigations, an SOS call was made to Freeman's eldest son Koah, with the family begging him for help as they fled the scene.

It is understood Koah drove to a nearby property where he helped his mother and younger brothers leave the scene.

By 11.40am, Mali and the children were in hiding, but Freeman himself had already broken away, vanishing into the vast and rugged bushland.

Daily Mail is not suggesting Koah helped his father escape.

By around 12pm, police had made direct contact with Ms Freeman and learned for the first time that she was no longer with her husband.

Any preliminary searches launched on the assumption that two adults and two children were on the run together had already been compromised when in reality, it was a single armed man who had fled into the alpine wilderness.”

Gosh, I mean obviously an all around horrible situation, but I am just trying to imagine what shock Mali and the kids would have been in at the time. I guess it's easy for me to say what I would have done in this situation, but actually experiencing it live would be a whole other kettle of fish.

Unrelated but I snapped these airportcam screenshots at 10:11am this morning. Marg has piqued our interest in these cams. I'm trying to figure out a way to screenshot them every 10 minutes automatically.
