Porepunkah shooting: Two officers dead and another wounded after shooting at High Country property, Victoria, Australia #2

Wow, nice catch Marg! This seems like it signifies an interesting development.

From heavily armed officers completing search missions, to ordinary police with cadaver dogs.

Now the "microwave booster" / special camera is gone.
I only had one part time job here and that was to fill in for Marg when she couldn't keep an eye on the cameras.
I know the camera was broken and they spent many hours trying to fix it, but now they've taken it away what am I going to do?

The cops know something we don't know. Imo

And that shocks me.

You may be right, although I think it will be wishful thinking by police so they can stick their heads into any cave or mineshaft without the fear of Dezi waiting inside.
However, the risk of a booby trap even if Dezi is dead is real so the fear of entering should remain imo.
One good thing about this latest search with the extra 100 is to clear the area for safety reasons because the national park will sooner or later be open again to bushwalkers.
Only reply if you want to of course, but what does your husband think about all this Dezi stuff @Ellery84
Im hopeful that he isn't a danger to the general public if he is still alive. Only those in a position of authority.

It should have been very clear that Mt Buffalo national park was the obvious place where Dezi would hide.
For a month police had 450 people out looking for Dezi, so why hasn't the park been completely searched so it can be reopened without any risk of Dezi causing anyone harm.
Until that happens, I believe there will always be a risk to the public and the police are responsible for removing that risk.

It's not open and it hasn't been completely searched because I think if it had they would have found Dezi.

I just don’t know how you can ever say a place like that can be considered thoroughly searched. Such diverse landscape, harsh terrain, huge area.

I would say he's a dangerous person. Period.

How do we know he didn’t kayak in the other direction , down the nearby Buckland river towards Myrtleford ?

I agree. The Mt Buffalo National Park is enormous. Its 331 square kilometres of mountainous bush land. Porepunkah is on the edge of the park too so its possible he didn't go far into the park before turning around and travelling in the opposite direction.

Or is that their way of saying.... all avenues have been exhausted in their search?

This should apply to the whole of Australia!

WA Police Minister Reece Whitby said the risk of professed sovereign citizens possessing guns was far too high.

"How on earth can the state of Western Australia entrust those people with the responsibilities for being a lawful gun owner?" he said.

"If you believe you don't have to abide by the law of Western Australia, then there is no way you can be considered a fit and proper person to be able to hold a licence to own and possess a firearm."

If it's too big a job to search thoroughly then just open it up again. Tell the public it hasn't been searched properly and to enter at their own risk.
I certainly wouldn't be doing that and I don't think that would absolve authorities of litigation if someone gets hurt by what Dezi may have set up.
More than 40 square kilometres of land have been searched on foot and by air. How much more is there to search?

Take a book and some snacks and sit on the hill 😀

You would hope that this was considered in the search. I just did a quick google search on "Buckland river canoeing" and there seems to be a fair bit of info available to enthusiasts on river conditions

What if he has escaped the area???

Thanks for the advice @Kemug. I would actually love to join in the search for Dezi or Gus but I think the risk of being shot at would be very high in both instances.
