Porepunkah locals gather together after a 'stressful' week

“A few dozen locals have braved the bad weather and gathered at the Porepunkah Pub.

It's just re-opened for the first time since the shootings.”

A few yarns to be had I'd say. Maybe even an undercover cop or 2?

Have to feel for the poor journalists covering this horrific crime. Here, Cassie Zervos from Channel 7 Melbourne, is in the pouring rain trying to present her story this afternoon…

They are all doing a great job in keeping us informed.

Might be a gathering of like minded souls, Dr S.. either shooters, or sov cits, or child molestors.. take your pick!! no one seems to be bothered, or surprised at the reason for the summons..

Interestingly The Age has gone with publishing the journalist intel from question time at the presser today, despite the commissioner’s attempt to shut the question down….

So “allegedly”
  • Concerns have also been raised about Freeman’s firearms licence, which was repeatedly removed and returned to him, as new details emerge about Tuesday’s police shooting.

  • Freeman allegedly blasted Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson with a home-made shotgun through the door of a bus he was living in near Porepunkah.

Good point Troop! No one interviewed, that I have seen, has even battered an eyelid ….. it’s like the warrant doesn’t exist ….. never mind the accusation it contains ….

IMO

“The town of Porepunkah is no longer under lockdown, though authorities have urged locals to remain on high alert.

Until Thursday, police said they believed Mr Freeman remained in bushland surrounding the shooting site, but a "dangerous person" warning on the VicEmergency website was expanded up to Nagambie — 200km west of Porepunkah — on Friday.

Commissioner Bush said the search area was determined on police intelligence and had been widened as "we're not making any assumptions"

I see in your linked article that, as well as NSW police, they have SA police involved in the search now. Realising, of course, that Filby may easily have gone in either direction.

It's like it never happened... and yet ,, there is a whole series of events that led up to this summons, or warrant being issued..
Someone made a complaint, either the victim or their guardian /parent, or someone saw something that alerted them, they rang the police, the police said come on down to the station and make a formal record.
They must have done this, they were interviewed , the victim was interviewed, consultation between the DPP and the police took place, decisions were made, actions were undertaken and formed and allocated.....

I mean, it was not just a momentary slip of the tongue, an error,.. someone filled out the wrong form sort of thing.. lots of steps taken and now. well. nada nothing, zero. no one wants to say a dickeybird....

Snow predicted near search ground

Porepunkah lies at the foot of Mount Buffalo.

The search area has been recording freezing conditions, and a severe weather system is expected to cause blizzards down to 1,200m.

That means snowstorms could develop this evening down the slopes of Mount Buffalo, but not as far as the town, which is just below 300m elevation.

Hail has already fallen on the town and outside the Porepunkah Pub, snow can be seen on the nearby mountain.”

Also ACT Police…..

“More than 450 police officers from Victoria, NSW, SA, the ACT and AFP are now involved in the "very professional and coordinated operation" to apprehend Freeman.”

Still of the opinion that DF is probably deceased. If it's true he has a bad back, there's no way he'd be able to survive for very long in the oppressively cold temperatures. Unless he's got a hideout in a cave which I doubt. IMO

What with one thing and another, I am seriously reconsidering my vague plan of retiring to rural Victoria.

It’s tough, the allegations must be strong, and the victim is probably local.

I think the media reports yesterday said the warrant related to events that happened in the last few years.

In the last few years he’s ramped up his court antics, lost his licence, lost his firearms licence, and reportedly his wife retreated from the community in the last few years too.

I wonder if giving too many details risks that victim or witnesses with DF armed and likely still nearby, at this stage, possibly listening.

It could be nothing, but I believe the Commissioner shut down discussion during the evening presser on the first day saying “There’s victims, it wouldn’t fair”… words like that. Just something I noticed, the pluralisation.

I noticed that too, in that presser. The plural. But then I thought ... does that mean multiple alleged sexual assault victims, or one alleged sexual assault victim with their loved ones being victims as well (due to suffering with the victim).

just stay away from former pilots, former ATC, or small aerodromes like PKOR if you’re planning on the eastern side… 😬

Mali was on the bus with Dezi when he shot the officers!!!!!
So did she also flee the scene when DT escaped? (By herself….? )

Or did she actually leave the scene with DT? (Help him perhaps?) And then return to town later by herself?

Remember, at the beginning, they didn’t know if she was a hostage?

Gosh ….. a totally different picture is emerging ….. and wow they have kept that quiet for a while in such a public case…….

IMO
