Ciantar/Greiner is a small firm out of Albury/Wodonga, a couple of youngish ladies, covering all aspects, criminal, family, child protection,... so no clue as to what aspect of Law Ms Freeman needs consultation on!!

And both of them are Legal Aid lawyers.

Sophie: "......appointed to the Victoria Legal Aid child protection, intervention order and duty lawyer panels."

Francesca: " ..... has been appointed to the Victoria Legal Aid child protection, intervention order, summary crime, youth crime and duty lawyer panels, and the NSW Legal Aid care and protection and summary crime panels."

Immediately after Dezi shot the 3 police officers, he ran off, right? And IIRC, he was wearing a raincoat, right? So he was totally ready to run IMO, unless his van roof was leaking incredibly badly. So if he was planning on disappearing into the bush in this atrocious weather, why wasn't he also wearing a cap of some sort, something warm, not something that may or may not have had a plastic hood attached. To me, rightly or wrongly, that indicates that he had somewhere to run to. A bolthole, a bunker. I wonder how long he can hold out for.

  • Desmond is believed to be hiding deep in caves or mineshafts, leaving behind his family to bear the weight of the storm.
  • Lidar maps of mines around Bright and Porepunkah show thousands of mineshafts hidden in the mountains around the regions
I would be surprised if he didn’t have a survival bunker. If he’s in one that he built himself, he could be watching them from beneath their boots. There’s similarities with Wieambilla here and I just hope that Freeman surrenders from fatigue soon and no one else is shot, or at close range.

Maybe the lawyer is for the son.... Although she is definitely going to need legal representation on a plethora of matters.... I only hope she and that great catch, the hardworking scintillating conversationalist that is Dez are actually married so she won't be deported......

He has probably convinced her that he has a phone embedded into his scalp... she is already convinced that he is a Barrister, a Surgeon , an Educator, a Legal Advisor, a Bushman , a builder, a plant specialist, a cattle expert, a oh I could go on, .. a phone inbuilt into his scrawny scalp would be childs play, to our Dez.

I just can't really give to many breaks to Mali.

At first she didn't show for about 12hrs to police. She had to have known that police would urgently need to speak to her & see for themselves that her & the kids were safe. She didn't front a police station until Tues night , when all this went down Tues morning.

Than it seems, to me & from reading between the lines of the police presser, she was not co-operating with the police.

So they dragged her in Thursday night, allowing her toddler to probably be terrified of the whole situation, in the pouring rain.

All this police time wasted either looking for her or getting her to co operate.

Than today we hear she has lawyered up & respects the police , doesn't have anti police views yada yada.................

Where was the respect from Tuesday morning?? Her husband allegedly had just shot 2 very fine members of the Victoria police.

I don't call that respect, it's obstruction IMO

Telstra actually has some pay phones in that area. There is actually one in the town of Ovens, where the Police have set up shop now.

The Telstra site even gives the phone number for the pay phones! Oh, what fun could be had!

I'm not sure I believe she was on the bus. Wouldn't all those cops have bundled her & the lids up there & than??

I don't see them just letting her stroll off or drive off.

Sure it must have been very chaotic. I read an article somewhere from a former ? tactical cop who said that some of the cops would have hung back away from the immediate scene, as to not let Dezi see how many cops were there.

I'll try find the article

actually, these are free phones,, you can't ring long distance, ... he couldn't ring Melbourne, say , but he could ring a fair whack of the north east, NOT wodonga albury though because due to Telstra shenanigans, Wodonga is on the NSW area code, 02 not o3 even though it is in Victoria, it has to do with network complications

either way, on the bus while good old Dez drug out his homemade firearm, or not, she certainly dragged her feet about fronting up for some heavy questioning... I think the coppers told her to get herself to Wangaratta court for a hearing, so she hares off there with the son only to find the courthouse closed, so she comes back to Myrtleford Police station. a nice building behind the main street whose name I have forgot.,

ok I'll stop everything, my whole train of thought, my lateral and linear process of logic and try and find Mali on the bloody bus.

I have some questions.

10 officers attended Dezi's home to execute a search warrant on the morning of August 26th (Tuesday).

According to the 7news report quoted above, Mali was at the property, possibly in the bus when one of the officers was shot.

Dezi fled the scene (while allegedly shooting another two officers), but what happened next? Mali was already there, where did she go?

Initial reports said that it was suspected Dezi had taken his family hostage. Then they said that Mali and her children attended a police station on Tuesday evening.

“Police have accounted for the whereabouts of the suspect’s family with his partner and children attending a police station this evening,” a statement read. “There is nothing to suggest they were ever in the company of the suspect following today’s incident.”

Rayner Track is a dead end road.

I just find it weird. Apparently she has a baby or toddler "under the age of two", so it's not like she could easily escape through the bush. Did she stay with other residents of the property? I mean, where the hell did she go that police didn't know her whereabouts until she presented herself on Tuesday evening?
Found it
