If DF knew beforehand he had a warrant, sorry please help me understand how he would? I do think he planned to ambush those officers and then take off for a friend to hide him imo
I dont know how Myrtleford Police go about their business, but it would not be unusual for the unfortunate recipient to know that a warrant is on it's way. There are a lot of lengthy steps that have taken place before this happens. I am pretty sure that Dez would know there had been trouble, somewhere, he would have at least been interviewed, like the person, or persons who made the complaint .
They would have to tell their story, with backup , that story is investigated, the person accused is approached to tell their view of the incident, and this is where I don't know exactly what part it was up to, insofar as...
The warrant may have been for the original and first up interview, sometimes, in cases like this it does not do to merely ask the accused to front up for a little chat. A summons is often necessary, because it is something no one wants to do, no one, at all, much less your Dez's of this world..
Or it may have been a summons after he had been interviewed on the matter and found to have a case to answer. That is , on the strength of his manner and approach and co operation and credibility ,his capacity to recall and his truthfulness weighed up against a childs carefully vetted and overseen interview, a decision was made to process the case further along the legal avenue.
SO that is what I don't know, and cannot even make a guess at, was it the first go or the second go.
( Addendum )...( this is a purely personal view. 99 out of 100 of these kind of crimes go unreported and unscrutinised, because (a) it's a child and children are unreliable witnesses at times, and (b) the power imbalance is huge, and (c) sometimes parents will not put their child thru the court process and who can blame them and (d) sometimes the perpetrator is a master of ingenuity from years of long practice . And tells an entirely believable story.
Lots of other reasons too. Juries are hesitant to convict on the say-so of a kid.... all this is intertwined.. The fact that the matter has got this far ( to summons level ) is some indication of the weight the accusation is loaded with. )
The police would have rung Dez to say they were on their way, no point in heading out there if he is not at home, and only the wife is there, that negates the reason for 6 coppers to go with the papers..
