Possible lead in Susan Powell case, 8-18-11

I cannot believe the audacity of the elder Powell! I had to stop watching the video because I couldn't take it anymore:furious::furious::furious:

So lemme get this straight. JP takes out a RO on Mr. Cox to stay away. Mr & Mrs Cox arrange a honk and wave to keep their missing daughter, Susan's, face out there. Then, S Powell shows up to confront the man his son has a restraining order for because he doesn't want him near him. But how can Mr Cox stay away if the Powell's keep showing up at places they know he will be?

Did Josh show up too? With the boys in tow? Did he speak to Mr Cox also? Sorry I just can't bear to watch any more.

Prayers for Susan and her family. I cannot imagine the torture of seeing my two grandbabies in a public place and not even be able to speak to them or give them a hug. Kudos to Mr Cox for keeping his cool! Mr SP made himself look bad.....real bad.....like a high school bully drawing lines over turf wars! Geeeesh! All my opinion.

All this could prove problematic for JP and his father. Mr. Cox has a right to do a simple honk and wave to remind people his daughter is missing. Powell's messed up by approaching him. It's not Mr. Cox violating the restraining order. If the Powell's thought it was a problem they should have called the cops. It's out of line for the Powell's to approach the Cox.

Ans Josh, half of it isn't true. the only word that comes to mind is idot. Can't spontaneously answer question and takes a long time to think about what he's going to say. Yes, I want to hear more of what JP has to say, especially since he's not been cleared by LE. Talk JP and talk some more.

Wow, he was kinda struggling to look like he was crying, wasn't he? And, what do you think that little hand movement was at about the 1:11 mark? Was he going to point his finger at something or wipe his nose? My first thought was that he was pretending to pull a trigger on a gun...idk

Those poor, poor boys. I bet there will be a big push to change the grandparent laws in WA after this over.

IMO

Curious for your thoughts on this...

Why wouldn't Susan's parents approach the courts for visitation rights? Is it that futile in WA and under the circumstances? TIA

Peliman, I agree. I think they messed up too. The P men were the ones who instigated this confrontation. I just can't get over the gall of these two!! I hope they keep on talking and I hope the judge denies the RO at the hearing on Tuesday!

JP definately seems nervous in his interviews IMO. TICK TOCK!

MOO

Grandparents in WA have no rights. None. Nada.

It's been a while now since I looked closely at the WA law, but generally, grandparents do not have any rights to their grandchildren. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along and explain it a bit better. But given the circumstances, surely those in power must be reconsidering the wisdom of the law.

Did JP and SP intentionally go to the honk and wave (with boys in tow) just to harass Susan's parents? Or, was it like they were just passing by and saw what was going on and stopped? I see in the video JP had a camera; documenting for future reference?

I sure hope this weekend circus helps Susan's parents in the upcoming hearing.

I hope WVC LE is close to arresting JP. It is so gut wrenching to know that Susan's Boys are being raised by those two. Their mother's murderer and his diabolical sidekick pop. It is so insane.

Hoping for some good news to come of this Ely investigation. They must be on to something big. I'm so happy that Susan is not a cold case file. I get the feeling they wouldn't go to Ely and make it such a big deal if it wasn't. Fingers crossed!

I wonder if the WVPD is welcoming volunteer search groups in the Ely area, I remember at one time they had a group of professionals who were volunteering their time searching in the mines in other locations - if they believe this is the area, maybe more manpower/hours would be a good thing now.

I can't imagine what Josh would have done on the second day (in the rental car) other than checking over the scene - any "evidence" he came back with was taken in the car and from his house, right? So I don't think he could have unloaded a critical piece of evidence on the 2nd trip, unless it was something he had on his person. I think it was reviewing the scene and to make sure he left it covered up.

If the Powells believe that Susan did run off with another man, they should be welcoming the Cox's passing out flyers to find their daughter. Steven Powell even brought up how Elizabeth Smart was hiding in plain sight --so if he believes that then what is the problem with the flyers?

Steven Powell wanted to publish Susan's comments from a diary when she was a teenager as proof of her being sexually open (whatever that means) - doesn't Steven believe that the notebook that Susan kept in her desk at work documenting the abuse/maltreatment by Josh being more relevant to what happen to Susan before she disappeared in 2009, rather than what happened 10 years earlier?

Hi diphi! Elder Mr. P stated in the YouTube video upthread that they purposely went there to get a picture because he and JP felt that Mr C was in violation of the RO because........drum roll....that is 'their' neighborhood store and JP shops there. The 2 P's wanted photos to show the judge on Tuesday.

The thing is, the honk and wave was organized by a friend of Susan's, not Mr. Cox so IDK how much input he had re: location. Those P men were the ones who initiated the confrontation. Elder P walked into camera range and began babbling during Mr Cox being interviewed.

this is my interpretation of the whole scene, FWIW:crazy:

Hello to you, too, WM! Thanks for the clarification; I missed that tidbit in my reading to get caught up. Sounds like someone might be getting a little paranoid. Gee, I wonder why.

Omg if I were there, even just watching this as a bystander, I would have had to fight for control not to b*slap Powell and his dad. What a couple of <modsnips>. First, daddyPowell tells Susan's dad to step out of the way because the reporter is trying to get daddyPowell on camera, (are you kidding me? what a camera w****) and then Josh has to push daddyPowell out of his shot so he can get his solo cameo. Are these 2 for real? And of course Josh brings the boys down there.

And in the video of Josh at his home, I guess, the one with all the wind, aren't those the boys in the background playing? And is daddyPowell not married? Josh and boys are living with him?? Oh dear heavens.

PLEASE, Susan, light the way and lead LE to a clue, or something to put this so called husband of yours behind bars for what he did to you.

Made me madder to hear daddyPowell saying Josh shops there. Too bad he had such a problem letting Susan buy groceries for the kids. Oh, my.

LIGHT THE WAY SUSAN, BRING HOME JUSTICE.

I have a theory:
When Josh was met at his home by reporter Jones (after the "camping"), he made up an off-the-cuff alibi AND THEN started thinking "whoops - that's too close to where I really dumped her".
So...after they took his minivan on the search warrant he used the rental car to move the body, and took it much further (over the state line).

The two places searched near Ely, are both on US-50 - indicating that he came into Ely from the "pony express" area of Utah (Delta, Simpson Springs).

"Putting this in my neighborhood is not appropriate," Josh added. "They're trying to push an agenda. ... I don't know what happened to her. There are 1,000 different theories that people need to consider in strong and serious ways."

If Josh really believes that there are 1,000 theories to explore-- why is he so convinced she ran off with another man? Where is his evidence to support that theory? Why has he been refusing to help solve the mystery? If one of his other theories is that she was taken against her will by another person - why wouldn't he want to help the police to solve this? Josh, want your vindication --help the police resolve the case!

Josh is a sorry excuse of a man, hiding in his daddy's home. Is he afraid that he is too stupid to talk without implicating himself?
