Maybe his client was RN?! But she was murdered or committed suicide before she could meet with him! She was blamed, or felt she was being blamed. I don't know....my head hurts from this case! I wish we could learn more soon!

DS doesn't care for dogs; dog could have caused or been part of reason for Maxie's accident....

DS might have casually mentioned to JS to have RN board dog so she can come to hospital....

OR JS could have casually said that RN was going to board the dog so she could come to hospital......that may have set DS over the edge...

RN boards dog....then found hanging

DS has reason to be upset/angry with RN...possibly lost alimony/child support, not to mention her son's condition happened while in RN's care....

I'm sure they where told soon after Maxie's hospital admission of his condition and outlook

I heard on HLN iirc last week that Jonah went and picked up the dog from the sitter and it was said that both Maxie and Rebecca loved that dog.

Bingo. Aw so there we see they were dating and living together during the separation. Sorry but DS just went to the top of my list because she truly must have hated RN but tolerated her because of the kids. She would have been balistic if RN was not watching the children when her son broke his neck which is MO too. Bingo!

my divorce took 5 years to finalize (california) but that was because of property issues. I got a judgment as to status the year after I filed. So I was "divorced" but we had to haggle out the rest of the details. Maybe the same was true for JS?

Another what if...

This is a long shot & maybe I've read too many True Crime stories,
but here goes my latest theory:

What if MS did not like RN and felt she caused his parents' divorce &
broke up his family. Did DS tell MS how horrible she was? Was MS a
"little monster" to RN? Did she have trouble getting along with him?

If so, this may have been what caused trouble between RN & JS
(if there actually was trouble). Maybe JS decided, since they couldn't
all get along, and/or his son said how much he disliked RN, or made up
stories about her..... JS decided he had to break it off with RN.

The break-up devasted RN to the point she decided to kill herself &
make it as dramatic as possible.... or to make it look like it was a murder.
But before she killed herself, she decided to take MS out with her...
as a way to get back at JS.

My only problem with this theory is:
Why would she wait so long between the 2 killings? Did she have them both
planned for the same day, but something happened that she couldn't take her
own life the same day. Like maybe the kenneling the dog issue?

I am not convinced this is suicide
I believe that if RN committed suicide out of guilt, she would have left a note expressing remorse.
And why tie your hands and feet? That part really baffles me.
That fact alone is enough to make me seriously believe she was murdered
How does one get over a balcony rail when your feet are bound?

IMO there would have been no investigation into Max's "accident" until Rebecca's death occurred. Despite LE initially saying there was no connection between the two events, it was clear to everyone that there was.

LE said that JS was in San Diego County...

I recall reading someone posted that there was rumored trouble between JS and RN. And the news said that RN was staying at the mansion...as if she were only a guest and not the two-year long term girlfriend that other cites have reported.

Could it be that there were problems between JS and RN and that JS has a new squeeze and RN was relegated to a room other than the Master bedroom? JS was at the new squeeze's home? Just weird that LE is not saying where he is/was.

I thought JS has returned to his home state of Arizona.

If he was through with her and she knew it then why would he attend her funeral in Missouri?

Maybe he too doesnt believe Rebecca's death is a suicide either and LE has asked him not to come out and comment on her death.

But insead to let the investigation take its course.

MS falls from the staircase, from what I have read, it seems from the top of the staircase, over the railing, upper balcony as apposed to down the stairs.

RN is hanging from a balcony

it has been said a few times in these threads that it would be possible, along with pretty detailed descriptions of how it'd be possible. though at this juncture i'm going to reserve judgment on how plausible it'd be

IMO and just guessing here:

Attorney had the right to keep completely silent.

Attorney was under no obligation to anyone to give any info.

That's why that statement bugged me - attorneys don't usually offer up info.

UNLESS:

Could attorney be messing with words?

IF DS is the person for whom defense attorney has been hired

WHILE bills have been arranged to be paid for by JS

AND JS needs focus off of him because 1. he didn't do this, and 2. company stock price affected by scandal

THEN maybe it would be important to state that JS is not the client and could be partially true.
