Rebecca Nalepa - suicide or murder? #5

Captain Curran said in the LE press conference that she wasn't hogtied, but what I was thinking is that if one orange extension cord was used to tie both hands and feet, then they would be connected, but not necessarily hogtied, know what I mean?

right, this is what i am picturing.

here is a thought i've been having about the hand and feet bindings as well: orange extension cords are hard to knot. perhaps they weren't actually "knotted", but more like wrapped around the arms and legs 4 or 5 times, enough to bind them tight enough without an actual "knot" see what i'm saying anyone? just throwing an idea out there, keep in mind my brain is like a puddle of goo lately so.

From behind with an electrical cord? That would be the first.
By the way I thought they said she was not hog tied.
If she were, that would certainly explain the bent legs. If her ankles were bound to her hands, then her legs would end up bent.
But how would it be possible to commit suicide that way is beyond my understanding.

From CuriousAmazon's link:
http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...i-son-girlfriend-death-investigation-wrapping

"Jonah's 6-year-old son, Max, was found at the base of the stairs of his Coronado, CA. mansion, unresponsive and unconscious. Two days later, Shacknai's girlfriend, Rebecca Zahau, 32, was found hanging outside the same home, naked, with her hands bound to her ankles behind her back."

BBM.

If this article is accurate, she was found hanging and hogtied. It's terrible to think about. Someone really wanted her to suffer physically and mentally.

I was just wondering if you could step through it somehow? Lord knows I couldn't....LE did originally state that but as I recall there was some sort of qualifier "it doesn't appear"

a possible motive for rebecca's death seems something like "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" ???

there has been an extraordinary amount of conflicting information in media reports of this case, so i think that should be taken with a grain of salt. LE has stated she was not hogtied. :o

Yes, if that is accurate and I really hate to take raderonline as a valid source especially when LE said she was NOT hogtied.

:waitasec:

But I guess we will learn that in a few weeks.

Snipped:

The respective investigations into the mysterious deaths of multi-millionaire Jonah Shacknai's son, Max, and girlfriend, Rebecca Zahau, are expected to be complete in the next several weeks, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

Jonah's 6-year-old son, Max, was found at the base of the stairs of his Coronado, CA. mansion, unresponsive and unconscious. Two days later, Shacknai's girlfriend, Rebecca Zahau, 32, was found hanging outside the same home, naked, with her hands bound to her ankles behind her back.

Law enforcement sources tell RadarOnline.com: "It doesn't look like Rebecca's death was by suicide. The evidence we have gathered so far, points us in the direction of this being a very, very suspicious death."

~~~Underlined by me
This article states that her hands were bound to her ankles. I am not sure how much credence I can give to this article as ALL previous reports have stated that Rebecca's hands and feet were NOT bound together.
Yes, I was first excited when I learned this from radaronline this morning but now that I have stood back and thought about it some more ............and it contradicts what LE has said...so I dont know whether to believe radaronline or not.
So I am not going to put much faith into that tidbit.
I do hope that that the information that we will hear something if a few weeks is true though.
Yes, there has been conflicting info on this issue and, as you rightly said, should be taken with a grain of salt.
Respectfully, I believe LE said that she was not hogtied when found. LE made no assertion as to whether or not she was hogtied during the course of a possible murder.
We need more info from LE.
Maybe when she was found she was not hog tied, but now after the autopsy they think she were at some point? Her bent legs are so obvious, and I don't think muscle spasms are a good explanation for why they are bent in such way. I think she went into rigor mortis in that position and that's why her legs are bent. Now, why was she in that position?
fair point. we shall see. :)
Not sure if I buy the hands bound to the legs UNLESS LE says so in a new press conference. I was zeroing on LE learning more toward Homicide.
It's not one fact or piece of info that makes it unlikely to be suicide in my mind, it's many...
-nude
-bound and hung
-extension cord
-marine rope
-hanging...poisining being the #1 choice for women per gov link I posted earlier
-family and friends accounts of her personality and unlikehood of suicide
-Max was still alive, although we've heard rumors of brain dead, when Rebecca died.
- What I believe to be the 'rope' leading off the balcony and the fact, TO ME, it appears to hang from the bottom, not OVER the railing, if she would have jumped and I cannot see her stripping and fandangling this houdini act in the courtyard, in the dark, or under light for all to see.
-the inconsistancies pointed out by Inubo, and others, in posts regarding the crime scene.
-the closeness in time of the two deaths
-no scarfs, robe belts, silkier or softer material she could have chosen? Did the girl not have a wardrope?
-the domestic problems b/t DS and JS
SO...I'm stuck waiting and wondering...for a week and 6 days...last count...not that I'm counting. ;) Easy enough to excuse 1 of the above, or even a couple...but all of it together, smells hinky to me.
IMO
THAT will tell us alot...a big key to this mystery.
I agree with jjenny...not hogtied when she was found by police...but maybe hogtied when she was "suspended", before she was 'cut down'? Another scenario/possible theory...;)
In the presser police said she was "suspended" and that there was a rope around her neck, iirc.
Hmmm ... perhaps her feet and hands could be bound together but they wouldn't call it hogtied? Maybe one piece of cord was just used, hence they were tied together. Ack, I still hate it when they seemingly leek official info but say it is from an 'insider'.
At any rate, I'm wondering if the orange electrical cord could be much thinner than we think? Not sure if anyone thinks there is a good enough view of it to say how thick. Here's an example:
But there is also orange ethernet cable and such.....
I'm just grasping for something to look into.
BBM - Great thought on the orange ethernet cable, time! It would be much more readily available in the home as opposed to the contractor orange extension cord. And, it would be easier to tie in knots than the other.
[O/T I worked with a contractor who would daisy chain (like crocheting) the orange extension cord. It is designed to NOT knot up. It's very thick.]
Anyone remember exactly how LE described it? Electrical cord?
Does anyone remember LE were going to try to recreate the scene? Then didn't... I wonder if the evidence showed whether during autopsy or from evidence in the house that there was no need to recreate. Or was the recreation thing just a rumor?
I use the daisy chain too. Its easy as pie and makes it so much easier.
Watch how he makes the first loop. (looks like a noose doesnt it?) I make my loops much tighter and smaller.
