<snipped for brevity>
A woman named Gayla Lynch came on HLN to detail how Jodi cheated on Bobby and the drama caused in the workplace when it was exposed she was cheating not only with one of the managers, but at the same time, with one of the cooks.

http://www.hlntv.com/video/2013/02/05/arias-former-co-worker-she-was-very-sweet

(So the everyone cheated on Jodi is just NOT the comprehensive picture. The truth is Jodi Arias cheated too. She was very manipulative and clearly has manipulated her experts as they present a very misguided description of a good girl being abused by every man in her life.)

Played a few of the clips I hadn't remembered seeing, and this was one. Gayla Lynch repeatedly refers to a person in this story as "the manager" and avoids pronouns, but unless I'm hearing it wrong @ about the 2:30 mark, the manager is referred to as she. This manager JA was dating and who picked a fight w/her in this story was a woman?

snip

I can't help but think that Willmott's office is full of severed heads on spikes, as a warning to all current and future paralegals, clerks, investigators, what have you, that Very Bad Things will happen to them if they let Jen go to court with really, really wrong information. She had so many "wait, what?" moments at the podium while trying to intimidate Dr. DeMarte Martinez-style, it was hard not to be embarrassed for her. She didn't know AZ licensing requirements for psychologists. She didn't know that publically refering to test results did not constitute copyright infringement. Lord, she certainly didn't know anything about about how/why tests were administered or scored or what any of those pesky little number thingys actually meant. She didn't know the difference between a professional resumé (DeMarte's) and an absurdly padded one (ALV's).

And she was so hopelessly flustered by the whole experience that I don't think she even noticed that Dr. DeMarte was "handling" her as she might a ranting mental patient on a ledge. Slow, clear, calm voice, non-confrontational, trying to diffuse the situation so nobody got hurt...

Willmott may not have noticed, but I did -- and it was a thing of beauty.
Re bolded part, I would imagine there are quite a few new spikes decorating her office after filing that motion and later finding out who actually controlled the computer on 6/19...

Yes, it's pretty obvious why they're fighting to keep DeMarte off the stand. Wonder who will get the pleasure of questioning her this time around now that she's allowed to testify to hearsay?

i hope this hasn't already been posted.

It is worth the time to read it. Interesting letters Jodi wrote from jail. Manipulator!

“Everyone in this group is welcome here. Occasional conflicts are inevitable (personality clashes, different points of view) but it’s my hope and my goal that this group remains overall a positive, pleasant place. Nobody’s perfect and we’re all free to speak our minds (I encourage it!), but try to be courteous, be nice, and have fun.”

Have fun? I don't know whether to :gaah: or :hilarious:

Probably in less than 15 minutes of direct and redirect. Hope the jury doesn't blink or they'll miss it.

It's almost time to get back to the autopsy photos which clearly demonstrate her evilness.

Nothing else really comes close to exposing the reality of her murderous predilections.

This brilliant video makes me want Jodi Arias dead right now. http://youtu.be/Z8MxOfIWlFc

Yes, but the man they were fighting over is the cook  It seems the manager and JA are both "dating" the cook at Denny's. JA is also living with Bobby at the same time. But you know, to hear her talk, she NEVER cheated on ANY of her boyfriends. They were the cheaters.

ETA ~ Although I'm sure the woman manager was also coming on to JA... You know like the manager at the restaurant in Az was flirting with her... Then fired her. :giggle:
Can't remember the name of restaurant, there have been so many.

Bringing this over from Sidebar. If this juror is correct...Juan's got this no matter how long the DT drones on or how succinct Juan is. He gets his point across

https://www.facebook.com/JuanMartinezProsecutorSupportPage/posts/340746676118915

From that link:

He laughed in understanding and then quipped, “I don’t do sidebars”....

I cannot tell you how many times Judge Steinle III would unabashedly tell the attorneys, no matter which side, “Save it for appeal, gentlemen! Let’s move along. We have a jury empaneled.”

Where's my fainting couch?

 • #347
She really is pathologically controlling.

I wonder if JA's attorneys don't want her 14 mitigation witnesses to testify because if Juan Martinez asks them if JA told them what to say on the stand they'd each have to answer "yes."

:seeya:

BBM: Just jumping off your post here:

I do not believe that JA has 14 mit witnesses. I think she has about 4 witnesses, and probably less than that, who MIGHT take the stand for her.

I think the DT is stretching this number to make JA "look good" :gaah:

But it ain't gonna work ... lol !

Right, the number is said to be 14 to make it look like there are more than a dozen people who could--if only the court would allow it--speak up for Jodi. With them not having to be named there is no way to verify the actual number of witnesses, if any.

Wouldn't it be great if court resumed on Tuesday with the judge actually taking back her courtroom? I mean, tell the DT to call their next witness and if they do not produce one, move the proceedings along accordingly. And if they ask to approach, say no. Sidebar might be necessary on occasion but my bet is most of those in this case were not.

Come on, Sherry, you can do it! Just say NO! Just eliminating unnecessary sidebars alone will move this trial along by leaps and bounds. You cannot avoid DT shenanigans completely but for crying out loud, you need to stop encouraging them!

 • #349
I love the exchange he had with Judge Steinle lol. "I don't do sidebars." What a timely moment to run into him and learn the contrast with the way he runs his courtroom vs. the way Judge Stephens does. Wonder how many other judges are watching this trial and shaking their head.

I've rewatched several days of testimony and the sidebars are the killer. The DT sometimes asked for sidebar after almost every question and/or objection.

I only recall once JSS refusing a sidebar

The only thing that I'm not sure of is whether the jury realized that Travis and Arias exchanged thousands of text messages--I remember the number being close to 84,000. If you count the number of times that Travis sent angry messages and compare it with the total number of messages then it all becomes very clear. I got the impression that some of the jurors believed that Travis frequently sent angry messages. Perhaps it was just the biased foreman.

Juan's closing was a thing of beauty! I hope he does the 'it's not her fault' bit for this jury. Epic greatness!

As usual, when ZoeyW post something it takes me down memory lane once again.:) I have so enjoyed all of Zoey's posts and how they are each packed with so much information and so well thought out.

So this morning I clicked on one of the links that was provided. It was the one where Juan is asking Dr. DeMarte questions. During this thorough examination he covered the text messages, emails, IMs etc. Not only did Juan make it clear that many thousands of messages had been sent between them but Dr. DeMarte did as well. She told the jury that the only time Travis reacted with unkind words is when he felt Jodi had either betrayed him or hurt him or lied to him. She said she did not feel Travis was emotionally abusive because if all of the thousands of messages back and forth were taken into consideration in their entirety the unkind words were not consistent with emotional abuse and only happened when he was very upset with Jodi about something she had done to him.

So I think with this being a younger jury they will understand it even better than the first jury.

Jumping off OBE's post above:

There were numerous great Juan moments in the first trial. I wonder, though, if those can be shared with the current jury. What happened many months ago and in front of a totally different panel is of little use in the current phase with the current panel. Will Juan be able to bring enough of this in, enough that the current jury has something to work with?

I found this image on a "smiley website" and posted it in the thread when "Pseudo Smith" was testifying.

We do not have it in the smiley choices here, but maybe the Mods can let us know, please :)

What I hear it is that JA was the one dating both the manager and 'cheating' w/ the cook off & on. The manager hears about the cook, and comes in and decides to confront JA over the cook. I'll listen again, but when she begins the story the others on the panel react to hearing JA was dating both. She does say this is after JA and Bobby broke up though...

I *love* Zoey's posts! Keep them coming!
CMJA does not have even close to 14 witnesses, me thinks she has none, this is just Nurms pulling a fast one, or trying to, anyway. We shall see!
I chose February 20, as did Meebee. Great minds think alike, lol. I will be thrilled for it to be before 2/20. I can't see this going on much further. JSS has to show this jury SOME respect!

It was amazing reading the transcript of the sidebars after Juan made an objection and it was sustained, Willmott would come over for the sole purpose of complaining, giving her thoughts on the objection, on Juan and it was mostly nothing that needed to be heard at that point in time. The judge finally told her this is unnecessary so get on with it and Willmott got the hint. But it was remarkable. Jodi won't win an appeal just becuase the judge tells the attorneys to hold all non pressing issues until after court. Come on, judge.

 • #358
Thank you DGC and daisydomino!

The boy named Sue did not sport a paper bag but since the judge's own ruling said she is willing to come up with alternate ways the DT witnesses could testify anonymously in open court--I suggest calling each one by an assigned number and having each testify with a bag over their head.

Problem solved.

 • #359
I think the only witnesses they might have are 2-3 people that will only tell tales if they can be promised JM won't get to question them. Which raises a question about the options JSS is offering (for one, more pseudonyms!). If an affidavit is used, and JM knows they are not being truthful, what happens then? Does the jury hear them or can JM get the affidavit thrown out before read in court?

I notice Aunt Sue is still missing in court, but I wonder how she liked hearing what JA was saying about her twin sister? And is/was she one of the supposed 14?

 • #360
In the words of Linda Drane Burdick "What the defense has done does not even come close to the legal requirements. It is a farce!" That is what I think of Jen/Nurmi alleging fourteen people are now afraid to take the stand for the client. The truth of the matter is
The "Phantom 14" witnesses would have to be
put on witness list
deposed ( interviewed ) by Juan Martinez
We all know how that would go.

Juan has never had access to these phantom 14.
He has made that clear in the hearings. Nurmi/Jen have, as you suggest, thrown it out there (poor Jodi has scared witnesses) so the reporters will make that their headline.

It works for them, this system of mentioning things in motions or hearings, things that are not in evidence and never will be. For example, they got it reported that one of phantom 14 WOULD HAVE , if, as and when, on the stand, testified that Travis was into child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Wait for it......an out of state witness they are having a hard time reaching.

While she was playing Pro Per, if I recall correctly, Jodi Arias claimed her witnesses did not wish to speak to Juan Martinez. Too bad.

No soup for you.

That is NOT how it works, not in AZ or any state in the Untied States of America. They have to face the prosecutor if they are going to take the stand. Whether a sealed proceeding, showing only their hands, with an assumed name or in a Halloween costume, it doesn't matter, these folks were never actually going to be called into court by the defense.

In the hearing on November 4, 2014, over sixty days ago, the fact that the defense has NO LAY WITNESSES and in lieu of live testimony, the Affidavits was mentioned. Mr. Martinez can play their game too. "They have the 2 experts, a possible witness from CA, and beyond that THEY HAVE JUST AFFIDAVITS IS MY UNDERSTANDING" Juan told the court .

http://youtu.be/LKp1qwmvRrw?t=8m11s

THAT WAS NOVEMBER 4, 2014!!!

Juan; to my grin, let the public ( Come in Tokyo..media are you watching the court minutes....) know as far back as a year ago by the way HE titled his documents that Jodi Arias and her lawyers planned to have this entire phase of the trial in secret. Check out this 1798588_612567168819429_831313727_n.png

Let's just play along with them that they verbally asked 14 folks to testify.
Now we learn that Kirk Nurmi and Jen Wilmott did not even start step two ( if one assumes these folks refused to come willingly )....
send out the 14 subpoenas! The judge let them know what she thinks of their nonsense in her ruling denying their 17 motions.
http://archive.azcentral.com/persistent/icimages/news/CR2008-031021-001DT-019-01142015.pdf
BAAAAAM!

This long stunt of their is , Mr. Nurmi's favorite word, egregious.

There is a very specific legal procedure one must follow to subpoena an out of state witness. We know Jen/Nurmi are very well aware of how to do it; because, they complained about it regarding Sky Hughes in a pre trial hearing.

In that hearing, a beautiful moment for justice for Travis happened. Kirk Nurmi asked of
Chris Hughes

"If you were called to testify on Miss Arias' behalf, would you be happy about it?"
"No. I would not" Travis Alexander's resolute best friend replied.
"Why is that?" Nurmi asked.

Chris Hughes spoke out for his beloved little brother and dear friend, Travis,
"Because she murdered my friend, in cold blood."

http://youtu.be/z4bTzT-c0DI?t=49m38s

In the entire matter of the State of Arizona vs. Jodi Ann Arias that is the truest answer ever spoken from the witness chair.
