I guess I try to rationalize as it makes it less painful for me. I am trying to take the emotion out of it and look at this more from that viewpoint. I also am trying to see this from a juror's viewpoint as they have not heard the other evidence.

I am not "setting the bar so low". I am trying to see this from another viewpoint. At times, I think we pile on people because they dare to have a different POV.

And, your compassion is a beautiful thing! I'm emotional about this trial as well. The only other trial I followed was CA's and it devastated me. I should know better than to stay with this one, but I like all of us, must see it to the end in hopes of justice.

OT: We sent AZL a thank you from Edible Arrangements for her help in understanding all of the legal issues.

I hope they were not from Washington State or Colorado....just saying.

:floorlaugh: It took me exactly 4 seconds to get the joke! What can I say, I'm slow on the uptake. Then again, with this trial, a :chillpill: type arrangement might be needed :giggle:

ETA: I see Zuri needs a few more seconds to get it :floorlaugh:

Yes. Yes Zuri does. Zuri has brain issues and does not always get stuff for sure. However, Zuri relies on the good people of WS to set her straight. That and a good lawyer in AZ and FL. LOL

 :blowkiss: I edited when I saw you had deleted OP, sorry dear if I offended. Reminds me, I need to contact right now to see if I can meet up with our friend in common, the lawyer in Florida, over Thanksgiving and his friend :giggle: Thanks for reminding me!

A bit behind in reading, but just HAD to say...

I really think the use of that mass email to imply Travis was a pedophile was totally unprofessional. And what was the strategy behind that, anyway? To make JM's cross more awesome??

YES!!! :skip:

:juanettes: :juanettes: :juanettes:

:snowball: gotcha' Dr. F....

Edited to add: AZlawyer - just an FYI - you got 80 "Thank You"s on this post!! :loveyou:

Hello Curious,

If you are referring to recent posts from me, I wasnt actually expressing wanting to just stop and shut down the trial and go with LWOP. I was discussing with someone else regarding whether the delay could be related to maybe the family changing their mind and perhaps that is what they wanted to do. Below is the actual post I made:
It was just an idea that was brought up by someone else of maybe a reason for the delay.

"It would be so understandable if they finally had enough and want to give up pursuing the DP. Even as a remote spectator, it is very difficult to handle this trial. I cant even imagine what it would be like to be there and be one of the family. I feel terrible for them."

For me personally, I may have flip-flopped in the past because this trial is quite difficult to endure, but I seem to recall I have most of the time always been wanting DP too. I do want to go on record that I mainly want whatever the family wishes.
If they want to continue to pursue DP, then I am all for it and will stand by them every step of the way. Even if these steps continually get harder to endure.

I do agree with you that we cannot just leave things where they stand now. Juan has to get his chance to undo some of the damage from this witness. It would not be good to just end this now at this point.

Before the trial started, we had some good debates about the pros + cons of DP versus LWOP. Those were some good and interesting discussions.

Anwyay, just wanted to clear up my views.

I think I misunderstood. And I have gone back and forth too at times because I never favored the death penalty as far as being a juror and making that decision myself. I am like you in that I would side with whatever the family chooses. They have to be very angry right now. I would like to see Juan finish this and know she is locked away for life, with no privileges, regardless of how short that life may be.
One thing I could definitely do. If the ballot for death or life would read this way: "Do you agree, yes or no, to abide by the family's wishes for her punishment?". My vote would be YES, regardless of how I saw it.

As far as anyone wanting this to be over with and her get LWOP, I am not against them at all. What I disagree with is stopping the trial at this moment and giving Nurmi the message of "Ok. You have dragged Travis through the mud and so we are saying enough. His killer can go on off to prison now and we will all make up and be buddies." It ain't happening as far as I can tell.

And they should not be able to knowing lie in opening or closing statements either like Baez did in the CA trial with no repercussions. It truly is disgusting what defense attorneys can "get away with" in order to have a so called "fair trial" for the defendant. Fair would be being able to bring anything like prior actions of a defendant in since they are basically doing the same thing to the victim that cannot defend himself any longer.

I believe prior bad acts can be introduced if relevant to the case, and show a pattern of behavior. I agree about the lying, and IIRC, JSS, informed the last jury it was up to them to decide the validity of the arguments, as they weren't actual testimony or evidence.

I am laughing at myself for being so slow. I obviously watch too much Dr. Oz!

I was thinking oh no, are there problems with fruit poisoning in those states? Goodness, I needed a laugh!

With respect, I disagree. She is paid to distort reality, and to lie, and to destroy the life and legacy of a truly decent and heinously murdered victim (and in front of his grieving family). This isn't the mark of a decent person. It is the mark of a mercenary, a gun for hire, a paid liar in sheeps' clothing. Have we set the bar so low that everything can now be rationalised as merely 'doing their job' (especially because they are 'professionals')?

The problem I have with this is these experts are being paid to skew whatever voluminous one sided whatever is given to them to paint a certain picture, that I feel certain, they would never paint in a true therapeutic setting and/or if the exact same facts were presented but gender roles were switched.

I know Juan will decimate this witness as he did ALV BUT, the whole concept of this "busine$$" is distasteful in the realm of mental health and abuse counselors/researchers.

I hope you enjoy each morsel with reckless abandon!

Thank you so very much Zuri (etal - since you said "we") for doing the very thing many of us would like to!

AZL - you are truly loved! :D

I think that people like her and Nurmi want us to buy what they're selling, including this extremely utilitarian view of relationships and community. IMO, everything can't be reduced to moral equivalence. This is not about emotion. Some POV's are unethical and wrong. Look what this way of thinking has done to the court system and to victims.

Yes, I so agree, it is painful to watch and to listen to this tripe. I think as long as one is a decent human being, it will always be that way.

Is Jodi on speed or something??? She talks a mile a minute. Can more calls come out? And Maria, ugh, knee deep in working as Jodi's personal assistant.

"bi-laws"...."trusts"??? Wow.
I truly believe she was when she killed Travis. It gives you super strength or adrenaline or something. Never used drugs but i saw a young person who was on something once and they were a raving lunatic. They got help and returned to being super nice. Just saying I always thought she took something to help her out.

Oh shoot. I thought today was Thursday. Taking a break from interior painting and don't even know what free kin day it is. Anyway, been following this crazy case again via tweets. I can't believe this trial has been allowed to get out-of-hand YET AGAIN! What the heck is with JSS anyway?
