That has been my theory from day one. I've read other opinions about it, but nothing else makes any sense to me.Unless she did it in Utah just to be noticed by a cop, a Utah, alibi providing cop.

He's a retired prison warden who is on Maricopy County's list of service providers. He's referred to as a consultant now and gives his opinion regarding how he feels a convict will do in prison or what prison will do to the convict, I think. He's listed on this portion of the Maricopa County website:
https://www.maricopa.gov/OPDS/Assets/Documents/Service_Providers/PrisonExpert.pdf
ETA: I have no idea if this guy is a witness for the defense. Where did that info. come from?
Expert witnesses who are available to consult and testify regarding jails and prisons may be found here. Jail and prison experts found on this page may consult on issues involving prison policies and procedures, physical restraints, and female inmate issues. These experts may provide reports on jail safety, strip searches, and penitentiaries. Expert witnesses found through this page may also testify regarding correctional facilities, the criminal justice system, imprisonment, incarceration, correctional facilities standards of care, the juvenile justice system, and inmates, as well as related issues.
I am still wondering what the story is about James Aiken. He works for prison or jail and was on her witness list??
Somehow I think there is a bigger story there? Has he become a friend? An advocate? What?
Seems she is in no hurry to leave where she is at. Makes me wonder. Will we ever be able to see first witness list?
You just got me thinking, and maybe it was already talked about, but I wonder if JSS wasn't indeed trying to protect JA's parents by allowing the 'secret' testimony. I wouldn't put it past JA to come up w/ a story that both of her parents sexually abused her when she young. She probably told the judge that she wanted to protect their reputation (just like she did Travis's) and that she wouldn't testify about her parents unless everyone was locked out.
I don't know, I'm still dumbfounded by it all.
That's interesting. I might consider it if anyone can come up with how that might conceal rather than scream "Look here!"
Did she think cameras on the road would not register her car passing by if it could not read the plate? Is that possible? And did that scenario ever show in a movie?
I just can't figure something that is likely to ATTRACT the interest of a traffic cop being used as a ploy to conceal. What am I missing?
IMO you aren't missing anything. I've always believed she stopped at the AZ -Utah border and flipped the plate. Not to conceal, but to get pulled over, more Utah alibi. But who knows. She's too twisted to figure out.
As far as I know- no- it has never been released... nor do I think it should be. Just my personal opinion. Would I like to see it- you bet I would.
I doubt there is a bigger story there. Aiken is an excellent expert witness when it comes to the mitigation phase in DP trials. I believe that he is anti death penalty. His usual approach is two pronged. He points out that the inmate poses no future dangerousness (if facts support that) to other inmates if given life and thus being in gen pop. Along with that, he usually tries to frame an argument that the defendant may be more likely to be a target than targeted by other inmates.
From what I have seen, he presents a good case. His background, methods and research are of a completely different calibre than other defense experts this defense has used. Ultimately, after cross by Martinez, how the jury weighs his testimony has more to do with their own individual views of the death penalty as it applies to this particular crime and defendant.
Flipping the plate to attract attention in UTAH is a possibility, but I think there's easier ways she could have done it. What are the chances she'd run into a traffic cop and be stopped? She couldn't be sure that would happen. If all she wanted to do was an alibi that she was in Utah, I think the receipts she kept as proof were enough. She also could have stopped at shops with camera's etc.
I am not sure Travis mistook sex for love in that relationship. I think he had sex on his mind a lot which is typical for many men around his age, and what she offered was tantalizing enough that he could not turn it down. But aside from their sexual relationship, I think Travis truly cared for Jodi.
Travis was, as you point out, far more patient than most guys would or could be under some circumstances that have now been brought to light; that was because he really did care about Jodi as a person, IMO. There are too many examples of him trying to help her out for me to believe he didn't care at all beyond the sex.
It must be a truly horrible letter for the Alexanders to not want it released. They're willing to sit through a sentencing retrial, they've endured endless months of victimization by their brother's murderer, and they've had the courage to do all that despite knowing how ugly it was going to get.
A horrible letter, and maybe they are protecting the only tiny sliver of privacy the murderer can't force open and smear.
You're probably right but I don't get it! They really want Jodi to get the death penalty. If the letter is so horrible it could actually lead Jodi to the DP. I don't understand why they wouldn't use it to help their cause. Maybe there's a legal reason it couldn't be entered; I know JM wasn't allowed to argue remorse right? Maybe the only way he could have introduced the letter was if he was allowed to talk remorse.
Maybe the Alexanders are just remaining quiet and keep everything trial related private until after sentencing as to not be accused to be influecing the trial.

BBM - It seems like JA was skilled at charming the heck out of many guys. It was obvious that Darryl Brewer still had feelings for her, even though he cost her his house! And many of Travis's friends seemed to like her - at least at first. Look how much the Hugheses thought of her until they found out how much of a liar and a manipulator she was.
We are obviously seeing her through a different prism, but she does or at least did have some skills at pretending to be a human being that managed to win guys over, including Travis until that last week or so.
"Thanksgiving Scrooge" lol!
Lonnie Dworkin said in his testimony on day 12 in the criminal phase that the EnCase image is compared bit for bit with the original to make sure it's a clean copy. It's more than just comparing the MD5 or SHA256 hashes, but even just comparing the hashes will show if even one bit was flipped.
ETA: I went back and read the author's follow up article about hash values http://whereismydata.wordpress.com/2009/09/08/forensics-hashes-do-they-work/ . Okay, so it's possible. Unlikely, but possible. I am not a computer forensics expert.
