I'd say because she was doing something on her computer, hmmm like making cd's and such that would definitely show she was up to something. To coinwinkeydink for me.

I agree. It seems like destroying your computer after murdering someone would help the prosecution.
I am so far behind reading, sorry if this has been previously discussed.

Breath people, breath. Stop and think for 1 minute. We all know that this is just complete and utter BS, either from her so called new expert or from malware Trojan virus. Those sites are all malware, he did not access those sites in May, June or any other date. Trust your gut, trust Juan and most importantly, trust Travis. I know I do, and I'm not worried at all.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

The WHY part is easy: If the prosecution tampered with evidence, then JA most likely walks free.

The HOW part is more challenging, especially after both sides have had a shot at it. Whatever one of KN's fleet of 🤬🤬🤬🤬 experts can say, JM will have some expert who can rip it apart. Most likely it comes back to JA planting it as part of her premeditation, so it could backfire.

This could well backfire, but I'm willing to bet at this point that he will demand the trial be halted until they can hold hearings over whether this can be entered as evidence - of course he'll need more time for that first - and for JSS to make a ruling before the penalty phase continues. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Thanksgiving passes before another witness testifies in penalty phase II. He only needs to get 5 more jurors to bail when they realize they are going to be on the hook well past Christmas....

I meant why would the police would want to tamper with the evidence. I understand why KN is pulling this crap. I agree with you on what he's trying to do. And of course, more time passes the more distant the pictures of JA's work become.

I asked my husband if an anti virus software could show as over writes. He just responded:

"It could. Good point."

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't think the primary question is whether or not the alleged files are exculpatory. I think the primary problem is that if true, the DT could have impeached Flores' testimony about gun sequence and just about anything else. He would have been a throughly discredited ex-detective.

I've said before, this DT will stop at nothing/no one to cause a mistrial, or at very least, try to taint the jury's perception of Travis and the prosecution. They are literally re-trying this case! And, in the media!!! They have slipped the bonds of conscience, ethics, veracity and are tumbling down the very deep dark and slimy hole, imho.

I hope whoever JM find to look at the hard drive again asks all the right questions, just like you have so far in the thread MeeBee!

That's what I'm hoping too. It's important to not just rebut is claim but ask the right questions. And if the sites are found to be viruses, which they clearly are, is it still expculpatory evidence? Or will they just grant her a re-trial based on evidence tampering, either way?

I think the killer wants to appear as the person that saved the world from this horrible person. I think I need to go throw-up.

The only thing missing right now is for the DT to come out and say that they were trying to have the trial closed to spare further public embarrassment to the Alexander family.

That would be about as believable as anything else they are doing.

Nurmi stated in the motion that the files were 'deleted and shredded', while it probably depends on the antivirus whether or not it overwrites malware, Nurmi's point is shredding is a deliberate attempt to hide info on the hard drive. I believe he'll have to prove that happened though, and how.

Do average folk actually do the defrag cleaning? I know how to, but have done it exactly twice in over 20 years of owning computers. Of course, I clean my toaster about once year, so maybe that's just me. ;)

I do about twice a yr..

OT
"De-fragging" was much more important in the early days when PC's had smaller hard drives and slower CPUs.

With such very large hard drives these days and very fast CPUs, it has become not as critical as it once was, since there is usually plenty of new unused space available on the hard drive, and the new PCs have very fast CPUs to get to that space.

I personally don't do it anymore either, but the theory is that it could speed up your PC and give you more contiguous free space if it is properly defragged. Especially on older PCs it could help it.

JMO
My understanding of what "de-fragging" does is it takes the small "chunks" of available space that were freed up by previously deleted files, etc.., and scoots them all together to form "larger chunks" of free space for the PC to use. It also physically moves the indexing around to allow the hard drive to write to that space quicker.

So instead of having your hard drive lazer pointer having to keep scooting back and forth all over the drive, it can just go directly to the new larger free space chunks.

With the lightning speed of new PCs and the tremendous amounts of free space on the hard drives, it is not as noticeable as it once was, and not as critical as it once was. My new PC is TERA-BYTE hard drive. ....LOL

Also, not to scare anyone, but defragging is a somewhat dangerous thing IMO because it truly does re-organize file structures and physically moves file pointers around. If properly done, it is fine.
But the thing scares me. LOL We have lots of electrical issues where I live and what scares me is losing power in the middle of a defrag process...LOL

Talk about accidently bringing up 🤬🤬🤬🤬, back in ’94 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer I wanted to know more about it. So I went to my computer planning on entering breast cancer, well all I got typed was “breast” and holy moly I could not believe what all came up! Let’s just say nothing about cancer came up. LOL and of course I looked, who wouldn’t. I find nothing wrong with finding 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on Travis’ computer, as long as it’s not kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬, and I don’t believe for a second anything like that was found on Travis’ computer, I would not be surprised if CMJA had it on hers.

This is not even about Jodi Arias anymore. I honestly think that Kirk Nurmi wants to win this one badly now to make up for being viewed as incompetent (compared to JM) in the first trial. He wants to show the media how savvy and smart he is. I think the media is the reason he had surgery as well.

I used to but I have become slack as of late....am behind on my virus scanning as well...I update all my malware, etc. protections promptly but need to run them ASAP.

You cane set defrag to automatic. :) I set mine to run at 1 AM.

He says that, but all he says the expert found were overwrites that hid the original files really well. They probably had to do very invasive forensic work to find this stuff. I'm not at all confused about what Nurmi is trying to say. But attributing over writes to "deleting and shredding" is the exact kind of wording I expect from him. Yes, deleting files and overwriting them would appear to be shredding to him. So far I haven't seem any proof that he knows LE did this deliberately. But pinning it all on them and on Juan, who there's even less proof of involvement in "deleting and shredding," is kind of their MO.

I'm trying to find alternate explanations for what happened because that's what Juan will do and because I just don't believe LE would so this. There was just no point. This case was the clearest cut with the best evidence they'd probably seen in a while. Why would they jeopardize that to frame little old Jodi, of all people and not in other cases where the evidence wasn't so clear?

"Jodie Arias, the Virus that never stops Attacking!

https://twitter.com/ktbug1027/status/532196760488144896

When Arias testified during the guilt phase, she told a story of Travis being angry with her and accusing her of installing a virus on his computer. It could be that this is one story that Jodi may not be lying about.

I understand that the defense has a job to do, but this is outrageous. Of course their computer expert would know these sites are not real sites. It only took a few hours for non-computer experts to figure it out. He accuses the police department and therefore the State of purposely deleting all of these files in 2009. Now knowing that they were a virus, it is highly probable that some type of routine virus check deleted the files. The State will have a computer expert clear this up and yet again it will be much ado about nothing, however, the defense will have succeeded in delaying these proceeding once again with their smoke and mirrors.

Does anyone think KN would throw this out, to left field btw, without first consulting an expert? And wouldn't this so called expert have to be the one to tell him about the deletions? How could he not have known prior to making a public accusation and legal motion, that these were malware files? In what scenario did he think this wouldn't come to light? Would he willingly set himself up to look the fool? For JA? <modsnip> To loose her on the streets to kill again? Really?

He knows Travis did not visit any pedo sites! He knows JA <modsnip> is a pathological vindictive liar! This is madness! all jmho

Y'all who defrag.....does this mean you clean your toasters once a week too? I'm starting to feel like a slob! ;)

Sorry to butt in but I have to go to work now...I spent a little time this morning giving a well deserved A$$ kicking to a misinformed death penalty opponent seeking limelight in this Arias trial who got on my last nerve.

Thanks for indulging my rant.
