Didn't they go to an air balloon festival?

The amount $699 seems to be an all included trip of some sort - complete package (air, hotel, car, etc) minus the taxes.

Could it have been a PrePaidLegal event, or membership of some sorts?

Just seems like an odd amount for a loan - be it either way (he gave her, or she gave him)
You would think it would be evened out to $700.

She was AcFartoing.

OOPS! I mean she was AirFartoing.

No, that says AcFarto. I'd be all of LambChop's money on it. :thumb:

After shopping with granddaughters I have $1.25 left over. Go wild.

That's a large amount for any trip, it seems to me. It wouldn't be the Balloon Fiesta, since that is here in NM, and they drove here from AZ. Maybe this is money for more than one trip.

Getting closer to the continuation of the circus.

I think it's probably Airfare.
I was just throwing out some thoughts - it's not a clear Airfare, but pretty close to it.
What trip did they go on around that time frame.
Could it have been down payment for Mexico?
Again, just throwing some ideas out there

In theory, life without parole. I'm not an advocate for the death penalty, but I do find myself rooting for that sentence since it's the very thing this retrial is fighting for (in the face of what seems to be a carnival and classless defense).

I truly don't know how I would vote on the defendant's sentence, though. Unless I was on the jury with all the rules, facts and mitigating factors presented to me in the context of criminal court. I might surprise myself with a different decision . . .

That's fair. I agree that a LWOP would be a sufficient sentence. The costs billed so far are astronomical, I hear over 3 million already. Just imagine what the cost of appeals on a DP would be, and very likely a death sentence would never be carried out anyway. I wish there were such a thing as LWOP under DP conditions. I would hate to be on the jury also.

Are we there yet? Release the darn super secret testimony. Let's get this show on the road and allow the Alexanders some peace.

The date on that check is about a week before the day she claims she found TA with the printed images of little boys in underwear.

She testifies that she loaned it to Travis and that he promised to pay it back right away. She said she had checks bounce because he didn't, he didn't pay the overdraft fees, and he screamed at her. He did eventually pay her back, but she had to ask her mom for money to move back to Yreka in March, according to her testimony.

ETA: Not that any of this has anything to do with reality, of course.

I think the check may have said "Idaho." I need to go back and search my posts. Someone had said "air tickets." Off to look. It was a long time ago. Why are we looking or trying to figure it out? I haven't read the entire thread yet. Hope everyone had a restful, peaceful, nice holiday season.

I thought it was payment on the trip back East (Niagara, NY) and I believe they went to a number of places. So that may have been half of the trial expenses. jmo

Oh carp. My posts only go back to July 2013. Odd. I know we discussed the check a long time ago.

The video of ALV at the top of the article just reinforces one thing for me. She is responsible for the incredible backlash against her. No other witness suffered the abject hostility that she did. It was performances like that that caused her problems. JMO

That video is excellent. Thank you kauaiskeptic!

Much appreciated. Great points, Katharine... thank you for your views. Yes, the interviews with her parents were sad. Her mother seemed genuine and distraught. Her father, harder to read. She has manipulated them too, absolutely.

Yes, manipulated to the nth degree. Yet at the same time, they knew all along there was something off about her. Then now, it's all about guilt I think. They feel responsible, guilty for what she became. Too late now, so all they can feel is guilt, and what do they do, they enable her more. A tragedy.

Hey grouchcygator. Welcome here. Lookout for Swampmama she and her husband will try and catch you.

I agree with your feelings on the death penalty. I'm against it due to how it's unfairly applied. That said, I feel if anybody deserves to be killed it's JA. She is just an amazingly sick minded individual. I believe that had she not been caught she would have gone on to kill a lot of Travis' friends. I think she was thisclose to leaving to do it before they arrested her.

JMO

On the same page Steely about the death penalty. Primarily due to wrongful convictions, in which case it is very dangerous. But in this case, as you, this murderer deserves it, there are no more questions to be asked, IMO. I just wish they would go ahead and get it over with. It is shameful and cruel what they are doing to Travis' family.
