Sure would appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. Had a bad week last week. DH had heart issue and now he is better. I was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite. Mayo clinic website said death rate is 75 percent during first ten days. I believe God has taken me through that period but I do have some weird symptoms. Apparently this fever can cause encephalitis of the brain, heart and kidney failure.
Anyways, you guys are all wonderful and it has been fun reading all the posts. I know I get too emotional about this trial. And I probably bounce back and forth with my opinions. It is awesome to me that we all put up with each other because we want justice for the victims. WS is great. :)

Was the last panel actually the last panel they have? Are they to choose from those 27 or will there be more groups of 7 coming in? Anyone know?

I am concerned that 27 will not be enough since each side has more strike opportunities coming up.

There are more panels coming but I'm not entirely sure now many more. I do know they barely scratched the surface today. There were 175 jurors to choose from and panels of seven coming in makes 25 panels and I THINK we only did like 3 or 4 panels today. So there is a ways to go.

So sorry Curious. You will get better. We are all praying and cheering for you.

A tweeter says the mysterious New Zealand witness is someone who went to school/church with Travis and that he shouldn't be trusted.

It just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

ETA: correction, he CLAIMS to have gone to school with Travis.

BBM: OMG ... WHY is this being allowed ?

It was despicable how CMJA and her DT "trashed" Travis during the Trial ...

JMO but JSS should NOT allow this at all !

I just posted in the Sidebar. Strange this person lives in another country. So many questions. What grade did he/she go to school with Travis? How did he/she become involved and why? Did he volunteer his service or did the defense team seek him/her out? I guess we will have to see. It is a bit of a mystery.

I can't post his name but there is a twitterer who seems to know who this could be. He has the screen shots of the weirdness this person claims, including that he was a friend of Travis and confronted Travis over pictures he found of children in sexual poses, among other things. Guys, it's BS and if he's called he will be promptly dismantled. This man did not know Travis.

The way they are tweeting is the way they were tweeting before - and it seemed like everyone enjoyed their tweets last time.

BUT......

This time we can not see what is going on - so all the tweets (like last time) is not doing this retrial justice in the descriptive department.

Last time it was OK to tweet about food, looks, smiles, and smirks. What color, salmon or pink - it made for some comedy relief from the tragic ordeal and the 18 days of Jodie on stand.

This time we need to have what is being said - we need our own court reporter. Some one who can speed type and post.

I would not mind seeing the trial live in person - but I'm not near there (or in the same state)
by the way - my typing is way too slow and my posting is even slower :blushing:

Or maybe.....the reporters that are tweeting may read here and catch on to what we are looking for :loveyou:

ETA:
thoughts and prayers to Curious in Indiana - hope you feel better and all goes well.

Beth Karas
12 mins
The last panel of jurors in ‪#‎JodiArias‬' penalty phase retrial just left. Several panels of 6 to 7 potential jurors were questioned by Martinez and Nurmi all day, based on their questionnaires completed last week. By my count, 27 jurors made the cut and will return for the final round of questions and peremptory strikes on Thursday, October 16. Opening statements are still set for Monday, October 20.

Thank you for this. I'm glad to hear from Beth Karas, she is the real deal. This is from her Facebook page, not her Twitter, correct?

If you saw the tweet already, I am pretty sure it will be revealed within the next few days. A paid minion perhaps.

Don't know if it will be because the witness list is under seal. Seems like a pretty good candidate for such a random witness. Donovan did say to expect surprises and why else would they be calling someone from NZ?

I'm almost glad now that there will be no cameras. If the first trial infuriated me then this one is gonna be one for the ages. With nothing to lose the defense will pull out all the stops. They don't care that this man is lying. And this time they get the final word.

This man did not know Travis. Betting on it. And all Juan has to do is run his name against the schools and churches Travis attended, find that no such man ever went there and he's done. And he can also question why the defense never brought him forward the first time around nor even noted his existence until now. Hum.

Has anyone been keeping a tally on those jurors who are to report back on the 16th. Gender, age etc.?

Hopefully.....along with what the questions/comments were when they were questioned.

So, is the NZ witness the subject of that motion for out of state deposition? (Wonder if there is a foreign-country deposition that can be had.)

I suppose if it is, that's why JM has not had a chance to interview this person yet. Apparently there was some issue about his ability/lack of opportunity to do that, an issue that seems to continue to this day.

Is it not true that if JM cannot interview the person prior to trial, he can file a motion for preclusion of that witness' testimony? (Maybe has already filed?)

This is very odd. Interesting #Heinous had to go halfway around the world to find ONE person who would say Travis was a pedophile. And how does this help mitigate what she did? I am confused?

WHY would it even be allowed. The trial involving guilt and innocence IS OVER. How would this testimony be a mitigating factor for her ? Is she really going to try and say he was a pedophile? OH MY.

And I was happy there were no cameras UNTIL NOW. I would LOVE to see Juan rip this 'witness' a new one. :pillowfight:

You'll get through it! I've had Rocky Mountain, and I know several people who have had it. Horse people seem to be eaten up with ticks! I'd like to know who told you that the death rate was that high. It's not. Very treatable disease. It will tax your energy for the next year…. that's the worse of it. It does suck your energy up. Ok I just went to look it up since it's been about 7 years since I had it and everything I found said 3 - 5% succumb to it. Back in the forties the death rate was about 30%. The thing I found that was the worse, as I said, was the lack of energy I had. But on the happy side, my 70 year old client got it last year and she's back to normal, and my next door neighbor who is 190 years old got it and he's doing great. Take it easy, rest a lot and when you feel tired in the first 2 months, rest. After that I had to build my strength and muscles back up..it is amazing how fast you get out of shape when you do nothing. I hope you feel better quickly! Oh….and as for encephalitis, I have had that too when I had a sinus infection that I didn't get treatment for…. same thing… rest and antibiotics and steroids. You will recover if you take your medicine and rest. While you are resting you can stay caught up on the trial and let us know what is going on!
