I find it weird how psychiatrists determine someone's personality based on the person's they're assessing own responses. People LIE. Wouldn't it be more accurate to interview those who knew them? Family, friends, etc?

We do know that the killer was given anti-depressants & anxiety medication long before the suicide watch. She told Dr. Samuels that and he testified it was also written down in her medical record.

So they screwed up their 2008 copy as well and want JM to provide them another one so they can copy it and return it to him? I don't think they've been able to provide one copy of either the 2008 or 2009 copies that has not been altered by them? Is that correct?

I assume the DT copy would have the date it was created on it as well.

From what I have read the MMCI-2 has 567 true/false questions (have no idea on page count) and takes 30 to 90 minutes to complete.

How do the tests compensate for people that lie when answering the questions? She is a known liar, the test is given, but how do the graders or whatever they are called, take that into consideration....or they don't and just think she is telling the truth and give their report. The test would be invalid if she lied?! Please explain. Thanks in advance

Will they try and call a witness today? If I were on the jury I'd find it mighty suspicious that the defense has only presented 2 witnesses, with one incomplete.

If I remember, some questions are asked more than once but in different words. (But it doesn't take much intelligence to see that--most liars are cunning, after all.)

Hi Nali. The MMPI--2 is a very, very reliable and valid instrument for measuring psychopathology and personality disorders, and it is as psychometrically sound as they come. It has internal constructs designed to "catch" exaggeration, over reporting and under-reporting--basically it is designed to identify those who lie on the test. And while there is no instrument out there that is perfect, this is the absolute best there is to offer when a clinician suspects psychopathology.

However, you are absolutely correct, any Clinician worth his or her salt (and by ethical standards) MUST take into account collateral reporting of family, friends, co-workers, etc..., in order to diagnose an individual appropriately.

You're good. We all are. The problem lies with the hired witness that sees only what he's paid to see. Anyone that knows about this case, and about JA's life, knows that she was (and still is) an angry person. Spend your hour doing something that you enjoy instead!

The fact is, who cares what he did or did not say, and why in the heck is she so easily led to that goose chase rather than simply demanding now that it be turned over now.

Well, I know this is cockeyed optimism, but I'm hoping she's doing this to verify & then charge him with contempt. She did correct JW's attempt to explain away the reason he didn't turn it over, so that's a start? I was actually relieved to hear her come back at JW with that statement, b/c it tells me she does understand at least that much of the issue.
