Serious question. Does anyone really believe that if Travis had done anything to JA like she claims that JA would not have shared that with at least one person? JA called her mom/dad when she saw Travis with another woman on the couch (when she was spying) but yet NEVER told a soul that Travis had beat her or anything else she now claims?

I call BS!

What I think is that there's this misperception that her BPD was caused by the parents. I think it is more that Jodi perceived slights in everything and every negative action. She perceives normal disciplinary action as invalidation. She perceives her parents caring for the infant child more over her as neglect. I am reminded of that article that was posted here about that child who was a psychopath who irrationally hated his younger brother. It sounds like Jodi had that same kind of hate for her younger brother, possibly stemming from his taking attention away from her.

I am also reminded of Jodi talking about running away because she was grounded and didn't want to be. In her mind, grounding her was wrong and abusive. It's a normal thing to be grounded but she reports it as if it's this great wrong done to her. She is the one who amplifies these things in her mind.

It's not all her parents' fault. It is a frustrating, vicious cycle. The more they tried to punish her and correct her the more she rebelled and resented them. It would never have worked on her. Her mom said in her interrogation "you have it in your head you had this rotten childhood. You need help." Her childhood was probably pretty normal. And she knows this, hence the :/ face at the end of her declaration there was no abuse or neglect in her childhood.

Super late to the party, but had to comment...

Do others remember crying and not knowing why they were crying as a kid (8-14 years old)? I would do that from time to time and my mom would ask me what was wrong and I'd tell her I didn't know so she's tell me to quit crying. I would just be annoyed and walk away where CMJA would take that as a personal slight against her. Not her parents fault, but because they didn't know the had a BPD child on their hands and how to handle her these things happened. I'll write more later (after I'm off work, lol) on BPD since I've had years of experience with a BPD mom, but for now please know that in no way does BPD mitigate cruel, heinous, murder.

Well of course not. In order to have PTSD one must go through an actual traumatic event.

I don't think Nurmi ever wanted to get off this case. He only pretended to, fully knowing the judge will not allow him to get off.

He really, really, wanted off. They upped the money pot & he said "what the hey" . Here we are today with the never ending trial. That will teach Arizona.

This all screams of Jodi's defense strategy! Jodi truly believes that Travis deserved to die because he "made her" into a . Jodi never considered that he might actually like her more if she wasn't. Travis was looking for a wife he could not only enjoy having sex but also someone whom he could respect. Jodi traded respect for becoming what she thought he wanted in an eternal goddess.

Wenwen, ITA. Earlier I stated that the difference between Matt and Darryl ending the relationship with JA vs Travis, was, in part, the sex. Matt and Darryl apparently broke free from the sexual manipulations of JA, while TA continued to have sex with her, although letting her know there was no marriage in future, which I feel 100% certain JA felt enraged over.

With all of this new information, I wonder if the tipping point in this relationship was that she knowingly and cunningly used sex, in every way imaginable, as a tool of manipulation to obtain her ultimate goal and when it failed she blamed TA for what depths she had sunk to in the hopes of marrying him. Once again blaming someone else for the informed decisions she made.

I don't think he really, really wanted off. I think he was hoping they would up his pay to his private practice scale, they did, he was more than happy to continue even if they hadn't.
