Totally agree. She even mentioned to a friend that she was just "dabbling" in the Mormon religion. Cant recall the guys name, but he was on Dr. Drew and was pointing out how she could not be that serious about being a Mormon since she used the word "dabbling" in it.

Wasn't that the one that asked about "magic underwear"? To which JA responded No but there's magic in them?

Doubt she's still a Mormon. Can they throw her out???

And, Jodi is nothing but a dark empty thing. No true beliefs, a mockery.

She also lacks the compassion, caring, loving personality that one would need to believe that they should "save a soul". JA cares about someone as long as that someone is useful to her. Once that usefulness wears/runs out, she no longer cares about them. The only person she has truly cared about, loved or was compassionate about is herself.

BBM: Well said.

And her family would do well to keep that in mind.

This is why I'm not too worried about the "mentally ill young girl" mitigator. She's a psychopath, and there are plenty of psychopaths on death row.

How is 27 "a young girl" by any stretch of the imagination???

I'd love for the defense to try and use the "mentally ill young girl" mitigator. Heck, let's bring back in the quacks that we had the first go round. Both of them were good for several laughs. Then Juan can bring back the true professional. Maybe this time around DeMarte can explain what she had to stop short of explaining the first time.

She was really good on the stand, very smart young lady or by Nurmis standards young girl. She was calm, steady and unshakable while testifying. Really gave the defense a run for there money. I would expect her to be the same this time.

It isn't. But they have to say that so the jury won't impose the death penalty. Heck, she doesn't have her "looks" to fall back on this time or her "charm". It's a hail mary that won't work. Especially with a jury full of folks around that age themselves.

It may also be referring to JA's mildly threatening plea motion.

I'm trying to find that motion that JSS granted last week (?) that said something about smuggling contraband, changing counsel, threats against someone (?) and lacking remorse? Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

I don't think she ever had looks- blonde or not. Makeup was the only thing that helped her.

Yes. I'm not very good at finding these things but JSS basically said that Juan cannot talk about the contraband, threats against trial participants, changing counsel, and lacking remorse by granting the defense motion. The contents of the motion are under seal though.

I'm worried sick that if the jury hangs on this, and Judge Stephens ends up sentencing her, she will give her life with the chance of parole. This judge seems to actually sympathize with Jodi and Nurmi, and for the life of me I can't figure out why that would be.

The good news (if worst comes to worst) is that there's no "parole". There's only the possibility of release - and it's a very slim possibility. To be released she'd have to be granted clemency, which rarely happens in AZ.

Small comfort, of course. Even a slim chance is too much of a chance.

I agree. Plus once you get to know her she truly turns ugly. That ugliness inside of her seeps out no matter what she does to try and hide it. Nothing behind her eyes, just dead orbs. But I guess some people see her as attractive, or did.

Totally agree. I think for a lot of people, it's the eyes that really captivate. So she's out of the running right there. Puts me in mind of what Paul Stern said about her (the guy she borrowed cash from, the day before she left to murder Travis IIRC).

"... When you engage in conversation with Jodi and look into her eyes, it's like looking in a two-way mirror. But Jodi's looking at the reflective part of the mirror. And her eye beams never really meet your eyes..."
