ALV's credibility was ripped to shreds but not in front of this jury. This jury does not know so much about what went down in the courtroom during the guilt phase and then the first penalty phase. They will see her with new eyes...hopefully the will see clearly but you never know with a jury.

Who do you think it is? And if you think it's Jodi, what do you think she's saying that she wanted to keep private? Basically refused to say if not in private.

I think Jodi is pulling a Casey Anthony and throwing her family under the abuse bus. Could be sexual, could be physical. Apparently her mother was warned right before they threw her out.

I really do believe it is the evildoer on the stand. Only she could be this dramatic and controlling, imo.

I think something very serious happened last time when ALV was there. Juan found out something very serious imo. Maybe she was the width of a hair from being charged with perjury. Juan has eluded to it in court.

So I don't think ALV would ever come back to testify for JA.

Thanks...I may have to finally give up on that. I just was quite comfy believing they could not get anyone to testify. I still think they did get someone--other than Jodi. I just have a very hard time accepting that if it was Jodi, the judge would not just say NO. There was that stuff about schedules not being able to be rearranged and the person not able to testify any other time. I would think the judge would be offended by such claims if they were baseless.

The main reason I can think of that Arias would want to testify in closed court is public reaction. Nurmi could argue that her testimony will stir up another media frenzy that in all likelihood will taint the jury. That is, the coverage would be so pervasive that the jury cannot ignore it. This is also something that a judge would deem cause for closing the court.

It is also likely Nurmi is concerned that trial watchers could give feedback to Martinez to catch Arias in her lies. So many people know her testimony inside and out, along with her media outreaches, so he has numerous unpaid assistants. Nurmi can't argue this with the judge as a legal reason to close the court, yet it is a practical consideration for him.

All we know is that he argued against a stay of the trial until the appeals court could rule bc he said the trial has already been going on for 6 years and didn't want more delays

Yeah the only differences I see were that the Anthony's got more advanced notice of this strategy than the Arias's and Casey didn't testify directly and I think her relationship with her parents was worse than Jodi's. Cindy actually did try to choke Casey, and yet Cindy got up on the stand and lied for her.

Makes a lot of sense. I just hope AZ is not about to set a precedent that will lead to future defendants demanding privacy for trial testimony. It is important to us as citizens to not be so quick to allow our rights to be ignored and sometimes all it takes is it being done the first time--after that it gets harder to say no.

I am not in AZ but I am still concerned about this.

Exactly, why now is it imperative for her to testify behind closed doors, when she has been so in everybody's faces forever? What could she possibly have to say that, if made public, would jeopardize her case?

It's impossible to be too cynical about anything that Jodi does... Whatever an actual human might think her motives could possibly be, her true intentions are inevitably worse.

Maybe it's imperative for Jodi to testify super-dooper secretly because, simply, she can, and because by doing so she causes a bunch of serious problems for a huge number of people. So, yay, score one for Jodi.

I honestly don't believe that the crap she spews from one day/year to the next makes any difference to her actual legal case or potential sentence. It'll be LWOP or DP regardless of anything she might say or do at this point, or fail to say or do. For years now she's just been focussing on collateral damage. Anything that keeps her in the news, keeps the trial going, keeps costing money, keeps the internet and cable TV talking about her, keeps torturing Travis' friends and family.. for her it's all good.

Not sure whether the killer cared if her family was there. She did not want the media there and to effect that they cleared everyone out. All media and all spectators got the boot. Her family are spectators in this courtroom so when everyone was shoved out they had to go too.

Dr. DeMarte wouldn't testify for the defense. I don't see Jodi saying she's sorry. Surprised she agreed to the mentally ill defense.

Last I heard, this "Jodi Arias was testifying" came about when a person accidentally opened the courtroom door and saw her. Has there been any new information regarding how she came to be seen either at the podium or on the stand?

If that is still the prevailing story, I am going back to the secret witness being Alyce LaV. If JA was seen speaking to the jury, she could have been giving her allocution in private as long as the opportunity to do so was available. IOW, her being on the stand or at the podium does not necessarily mean there is or was no other witness demanding to testify under the cloak of secrecy. And for me, the person who would least want to be there but who the DT would most want to be there, is someone who is deemed an expert in their field and who can possibly give JA's lies some substance.

JM would dismantle such testimony but he did that last time very skillfully, yet we came away with a juror who believed TA could have been abusive. And remember, there was absolutely NO documentation of TA abuse; it was claimed by Jodi alone, and backed up by her experts who had never met TA.

The majority of her testimony was lies, or at best based on lies she was told, and she doesnot have the expertise to know when she's being played. IMO.

Thanks...I may have to finally give up on that. I just was quite comfy believing they could not get anyone to testify. I still think they did get someone--other than Jodi. I just have a very hard time accepting that if it was Jodi, the judge would not just say NO. There was that stuff about schedules not being able to be rearranged and the person not able to testify any other time. I would think the judge would be offended by such claims if they were baseless.

I trust JSS is doing the right thing, and I honestly think Jodi did not expect her to blackout the courtroom to fulfill her request. *if she is indeed the "secret witness".
The conflict in schedules could be that Jodi is not "prepared" to take the stand now that she knows there won't be viewership.

I forgot what she lied about, but i'm there was a lie in there. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

On the top of my head, one of the lies was that she had testified on behalf of men before. I think he got her to admit that it was maybe only a written report. But even that testimony was sketchy. She could never name anyone as far as I know.
