I was responding to a post the questioned a recent poll and the jury's ability to be influenced by media coverage. I am aware that sequestering a jury would be expensive. My local court has had to sequester jurys before. My dad has had to deliver their lunch etc. I do understand costs. I also understand that this judge can't control her courtroom, let alone the idiots whi might do stupid things in the hope of a mistrial.Would it make people feel better if there were another Casey Anthony outcome (that jury was sequestered) or an OJ Simpson outcome (that jury was also sequestered)? Would everyone be willing to help fund the cost back to AZ for taking people out of their lives for 2+ months to sequester them?
ETA: The argument is not so much about the jury as it is the allegedly scared 'witness' who doesn't want the media or public to have any access to their testimony. Sequestering a jury does nothing for that argument.
I have to agree with you 100% on this one. They are beyond ripped apart by this and there is no way that they would jeopardize the trial.
We still don't know if the reported identity of the secret witness is correct. If it is correct, it is entirely possible that Arias leaked this to Troy Hayden, since he is still on her call list.
Jodi would have nothing to lose, but the judge would have nothing to lose by saying no either. Literally zero percent chance of a successful appeal on that issue.
There is a phone in chambers.
No way, not even a single percent, did any of the Alexanders leak who is on the stand. I don't believe that to be in any way a possibility. They are never, ever, ever going to risk a mistrial by leaking information. The have been waiting for over 6 years for justice for Travis. There is no way they would risk making it an even longer wait. Whoever leaked it, I would stake everything I own that it wasn't an Alexander.
Newbie here. I think the secret witness is JA. You can call me a looney after reading this. Since the lost phone & the 12 year old scenio came up (Juan did not examine the lost phone) is it possible that CMJA secretly recorded her & TA having a tryst & her acting like a young girl(she really seems to be into that) She wants to show this on the stand stating it was his idea. Maybe that was what he got so upset with her hence "you have betrayed me". Maybe this could be why everyone was kicked out. I read if a testimony was an embarrassment the judge could that. Don't know if that is law. My mind is going all directions why the trial could me closed. Okay, you can call me cray cray now
Hi! RadarLuv. Nurmi used to work for the public defenders council & when he did, he was assigned this case. So was Washington. Some time in, he left the defenders & went into private practice. He had trouble launching that because of this case and its requirements but try as he might, he could not get released from the Arias defense. At one time, he might have escaped (who knows?) but Arias implored the court to retain him as her chief counsel, in writing. Do you think she may be a bit fickle, having read her latter day screeds against him?
Well if one of her supporters leaked this, and if she did, probably at the direction of Arias...then JSS should wakeup, and know she has been made out to be the fool in all of this.
If they can trace who put this out before the media even found out then heads should roll.
Of course Arias will deny, deny, deny, but if she had contact with the leaker at some point in time then JSS should open up the courtroom for everyone to come in and see the testi-liar testify.
If she is trying to get a mistrial, I don't think this will work. Even if it is known she is the one on the stand ........no one but the jury has heard her testimony or her long drawn out PR presentation like last time.
IMO
Jeffrey Evan Gold @jeffgoldesq · 15m 15 minutes ago Unfortunately, the cozy nature of #JodiArias testifying with no public gallery, may give jury the impression that court feels her pain.
Would it make people feel better if there were another Casey Anthony outcome (that jury was sequestered) or an OJ Simpson outcome (that jury was also sequestered)? Would everyone be willing to help fund the cost back to AZ for taking people out of their lives for 2+ months to sequester them?

I also believe this happened. If nothing else, some journalist willing to get in trouble for the cause. I find it a little bit presumptuous that anyone could say this could not have happened. The other 2 sources could have been standing near the courtroom door just awaiting someone to make this exact "mistake".
I'm presumptuous , then. And I believe that story less by the moment.
To believe it, you'd have to believe in those several miraculous moments when some secret person accidentally stumbled upon CMJA on the stand, that secret person also managed to understand before turning and fleeing (or being escorted out) that CMJA was retelling the same story , nothing new.
Then you would have to accept that the court didn't speak to or admonish this secret person, that this person who saw by accident decided to seek out the media ...to ask what to do?
Last, you must accept that either 3 people - the 3 sources- stumbled into that same room....maybe they took turns and nobody noticed? Or nobody noticed a small crowd of media lurking near the closed doors?
Or 2 people inside closed court were asked to verify to the excluded media that the one secret stumbler- inner got it right. And the insiders agreed to do so.
Hmmmm.
