It's horrifically heartbreaking to see he lived with his wife and children, it could be any reason not connected, but seems targeted or a copycat type thing from some other horrible, horrible monster. I don't know if this is new, but said breaking news of updated and more clear images of the Brown killer. His way of standing and walking per Police Chief at this moment. It is closer up of his walking style and asking for camera footage going back a week and was in that hood last week, Saturday at 10:30 in the morning. Looking for face. IMO

Notes from PC:

On Saturday, the POI was in the neighborhood at around 10:30am -- police are asking people to review surveillance footage up to a week before the shooting.

Police chief says they believe the POI was "casing out" the area prior to the crime at 10:30am, which was captured on surveillance video.

Haven't identified an age range for the POI but said a witness reported that he could be in his 30s.

AG states they do have video footage inside the building -- but those videos do not show the POI and thus that is why LE hasn't released those videos. AG explains that because the engineering building underwent a major renovation where a new wing was added. There are cameras in the new wing, but the shooting happened in the old part of the building. In response to a follow-up question about the cameras, the AG explains that the building where the shooting took place is also located on the far edge of campus which is why the videos released have been from the surrounding neighborhood.

Brown president states that they have been working closely with LE to provide them with all the internal info necessary to their investigation.

Mayor states that since the shooting, there have been no credible threats to the city (and to the best of his knowledge, the state) but says they have stepped up LE presence in the city as a precautionary measure.

FBI states that at this time, it seems there is no connection between the murder of the MIT professor and the Brown shooting.

Police chief states they have no information indicating that Ella Cook was specifically targeted.

Police chief states that they are still conducting interviews of students who were in the room where the shooting occurred. In response to a follow-up question, he states that a "good amount" of interviews have been conducted. He says he doesn't have information about whether students have been able to identify what the POI said before the shooting.

In response to a reporter's question, both the police chief and Brown president stated they had no knowledge of the student webpage(s) that have apparently been removed from the Brown website. The AG intervenes and says he had been asked about that by a reporter and urges caution -- says "if that name meant anything to the investigation, we would be out there looking for that person."

AG says they have "zero" information about the motive.

Mayor says that they will be back tomorrow unless there are new developments.

He is asking that people go back at least a week checking cameras at home and in Teslas.

This is terrifying, and it should be bigger news.

I found this, and it's not a main media outlet, so take it with a grain of salt but:

I haven't found any other sources (as of yet) that confirm a pro-Israel stance, but Professor Friedberg, who's class was subject to the attack had an academic focus on Israel and was also a professor of Judaic studies. However, it's also worth noting that Professor Loureiro is an engineering professor, and the building targeted in the Brown shooting was related to the School of Engineering. I'm not saying this is related, but is the second attack on academia (a university and a college professor) in a relatively small area. I didn't see any apparent links that Friedberg or Loureiro were ever colleagues, or that Loureiro has ties to Brown.

I'm sure LE is investigating any potential links.

EDIT: I'd also be curious if there were any students that attended both MIT and Brown, or attended MIT and applied to Brown for grad (or vise versa).

EDIT 2:
Digging around, I found that Professor Friedberg received her PhD from MIT in 1992 (year per her Linkedin). Of course, Professor Loureiro was only his in his forties, and wouldn't have attending M.I.T at that time (he joined the staff in 2016) but it is worth noting that they both have ties to M.I.T.

So it is starting to feel like this class was targeted and this guy was waiting for a specific time or a specific person maybe in that class.

I wonder where the info came from that he was in the neighborhood around 10:30 that morning. Maybe a witness?

Likely unrelated, but the MIT professor incident makes me wonder. Moo.

Yeah, the movement patterns and timings strongly suggest he was waiting on someone or something to happen.

They think he was testing out the area.

At 2m35s into the clip (which I've downloaded, just in case) there's a segment with the suspect apparently being followed by someone. The preceding screen says "1416: Video from 110 Benevolent shows POI walking north on Cooke. POI abruptly turns west down George. Second individual follows."
Could this be an accomplice? Maybe someone he got the bag from? I'll go back and watch again to see. Were they moving to a location he knew there were no cameras?

There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to the route he's taking before the shooting. It's almost as if he's wandering about killing time before the class ended at 4pm.
He's running in one video. So strange. Nice cameras and nice neighborhood.

The videos they have is all they have at the moment. They have no videos from inside the building.

Oh it is beautiful and a historic area, Providence, that area, a city with really great places. IMO

wonder if any classes taught by professor friedberg* had any sessions earlier that day. i can't find that information -- might not be public. if there weren't, that might explain the waiting?

*yes, i know she wasn't there at the time, but the shooter may not have known that. it was a session for a class that was nominally hers.

The journalist is saying that it wasn’t till this morning that residents in the neighbourhood were asked for their camera footage by LE.

These newer vids are excellent and people WILL know who he is but not knowing WHO he is, who knows if this is shown heavily all over the country and he's back from where he is from. IMO

According to Professor Friedberg's Brown profile, "Friedberg's Principles of Economics course is the most popular class at Brown, taken by half of all undergraduates." I'm not certain, but I would assume there would be a number of sections of the course - and perhaps a number of review sessions taught by different TA's. I'd definitely be curious to know the review schedules that day for PoE and other courses.
