Brown University's homepage is also a source of updates: Brown University
Handguns are by far the most used weapon according to the data, although the deadliest ones that stick in our minds are generally committed with rifles. That seems unusual in mass shootings, or not??
Does it indicate anything, like perhaps this was targeted at specific people. Or is that a stretch?
Thinking aloud....with no knowledge of guns.

Ugh, I forgot about Virginia. I didn't realize that was also a handgun. Such a sunking feeling that this keeps happening, with no assurances of ANY improvement over time.I think there have been other attacks that have involved handguns. One that comes to mind is the Virginia Tech shooter. He killed 32 people and wounded 17 others using 2 handguns. See: Virginia Tech shooting - Wikipedia
I think some shooters have used handguns because they are more concealable, and as @iamshadow21 noted, that could enable them to reach their target(s) unchallenged.
Thanks for the info.Handguns are by far the most used weapon according to the data, although the deadliest ones that stick in our minds are generally committed with rifles.
The exception was the Virginia tech shooting, which was the third deadliest. He locked the doors and used two handguns though.
And easy to conceal when making his escape. As we have seen in other shootings - the Charlie Kirk shooting in particular comes to mind - a larger gun like a rifle or a shotgun is incredibly unwieldy and difficult to conceal whilst fleeing, but vital not to leave behind because it will be an absolute goldmine of evidence for investigators. Whereas a handgun can be slipped into a deep pocket or a holster or a bag in a matter of seconds. And then the person becomes just another individual leaving the scene.I think there have been other attacks that have involved handguns. One that comes to mind is the Virginia Tech shooter. Heaven forbid public safety comes before some windbag aiming up for re-election.Ok, now I'm annoyed. They're going to be releasing an image of the suspect, but first we're going to have to listen to politicians speak. Every second counts. This is ridiculous.
The fact that I really want to see this video to satisfy my own curiosity, notwithstanding.
Good grief now they are taking questions and telling us what the video is going to show us instead of just showing us the video! Makes no sense.Ok, now I'm annoyed. I think they're all doing the best they can, given the situation.Anyone else not feeling much confidence from these folks in charge in this press conference?
I am sure that LE are doing the best they can and they are following leads and tracking everything they can, but these people just no.I think they're all doing the best they can, given the situation.
Maybe the video isn’t going to be helpfulOk, now I'm annoyed. They're going to be releasing an image of the suspect, but first we're going to have to listen to politicians speak. Every second counts. This is ridiculous.

Confirming that it happened inside a classroom. Mentioned the shooter may be in his 30's.
I think anything would be helpful, the way they walk, run, even their shoes!Maybe the video isn’t going to be helpful![]()
