(Bold mine.) I think their anger is completely rational, and does not have anything behind it other than the bitter realization that the parent deemed "better" was as far from a responsible parent as one might be---with disastrous consequences. They were failed miserably. They are victims.
I have no doubt that Ronald Cummings loves his children. I have no doubt that his pain is genuine. But love is not enough. His associates, behavior, and choice of partner/childcare giver placed his children in ongoing danger.
He doesn't get an award simply for being more demonstrative than the sociopath in another part of the state, in my book.
I think we have the same book.
