Like @TootsieFootsie said - I'll believe when I see it.... and Yes - Putin can not be trusted! Probably massing new recruits to the border....

Even one day of truce,
One hour,
One minute,
Means
Somebody will stay alive.

I always hope.

The corresponding proposal for a full and unconditional 30 days ceasefire has gone unanswered by Russia for 39 days. The United States made this proposal, Ukraine responded positively, but Russia ignored it.

If Russia is now suddenly ready to truly engage in a format of full and unconditional silence, Ukraine will act accordingly — mirroring Russia’s actions. Silence in response to silence, defensive strikes in response to attacks. If a complete ceasefire truly takes hold, Ukraine proposes extending it beyond the Easter day of April 20. That is what will reveal Russia’s true intentions — because 30 hours is enough to make headlines, but not for genuine confidence-building measures. Thirty days could give peace a chance.

As of now, according to the Commander-in-Chief reports, Russian assault operations continue on several frontline sectors, and Russian artillery fire has not subsided. Therefore, there is no trust in words coming from Moscow. We know all too well how Moscow manipulates, and we are prepared for anything. Ukraine’s Defense Forces will act rationally — responding in kind. Every Russian strike will be met with an appropriate response.

I expect detailed updates at 21:30 and 22:00 from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi following his conversations with brigade commanders and other units on the front lines regarding the situation in specific directions.

Our people are home—one of the best pieces of news that can be. Another 277 warriors have returned home from Russian captivity.

The warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, and the border guards. They defended Mariupol and other directions in the Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions.

I thank everyone who made this return of our people possible. I am especially grateful to the United Arab Emirates for their mediation.

In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, 4,552 people—both warriors and civilians—have been successfully brought back home from Russian imprisonment.

We remember all those who remain in captivity. We are searching for everyone who could be there. We must bring them all home.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this morning from the Kremlin, seemingly out of nowhere, a 30-hour temporary ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine over Easter, lasting from 18:00 April 19 till 00:00 April 21, adding that he expects the Ukrainian side to also abide by the ceasefire citing “humanitarian considerations.” Despite this sudden announcement by Putin, as the ceasefire was set to go into effect, air-raid sirens were sounding in cities across Ukraine. This appears to be just another “Christmas Ceasefire” from 2023, in which Russia declares a ceasefire while continuing to attack Ukraine, before then accusing Ukraine of violating the ceasefire.

Russian artillery is continuing to target frontline positions in Eastern Ukraine, despite this morning’s “Easter Ceasefire” announced by Russian President Putin. Hundreds of ceasefire violations by Russia have already been seen in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk Oblasts of Eastern Ukraine.

Kyiv issues ceasefire order.

A senior officer in the Ukrainian Armed Forces told the BBC
that his unit, like other units,
received an order to cease fire on Russian positions
just minutes after the start of the Russia-declared 'Easter truce'.

According to him,
the units were also instructed to document ceasefire violations with photos and video footage
and, if necessary, return fire.

The truce 'surprised everyone'

The officer told the BBC
the ceasefire announcement
had 'taken everyone by surprise'
and while most soldiers want a ceasefire,
there is still confusion on the frontline about what exactly it means."

I’m really happy about the return of prisoners to Ukraine. Their families must be thrilled and relieved. I’m also fascinated by the colorful patterned seats and purple curtains! Happy colors. 😄💜

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday
that Ukraine has returned 277 prisoners of war from Russian captivity.
The Russian side, in turn, is talking about an exchange according to the formula of 246 for 246.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on his Telegram channel about the return of prisoners of war from Russian captivity.

'The return of our people home is one of the best possible news.
277 soldiers have returned home from Russian captivity'.

The role of mediators

The exchange was brokered by representatives of the United Arab Emirates."

For millions of Ukrainians, Easter is one of the most important holidays. And millions of Ukrainians will go to church. Sadly, many will go to churches that are damaged or destroyed.

The Russian army is one of the biggest threats to Christian churches and believers. Over the years of full-scale war, 67 Ukrainian priests, pastors and monks have been killed or tortured by Russian occupiers. 640 religious sites have been destroyed, most of them Christian. But we will rebuild all of them.

Just like we’re bringing back priests and pastors from Russian captivity, just like we’re doing everything to protect Ukrainian towns and villages and the lives of people there – we are also bringing back the chance to believe, to believe that evil and destruction will not win. Thank you to everyone who helps.

1:56 PM PST:

A report by the Commander-in-Chief.

We are documenting the actual situation on all directions. The Kursk and Belgorod regions — Easter statements by Putin did not extend to this territory. Hostilities continue, and Russian strikes persist. Russian artillery can still be heard in certain directions of the front, regardless of the Russian leader's promise of silence. Russian drones are in use. In some areas, the situation has become quieter.

Our actions are and will be symmetrical. The proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day silence remains on the table — the answer to it must come from Moscow. Ukraine, together with our partners, is ready to move toward peace as constructively as possible, but same readiness is required from Russia.

I expect updated information from the frontline in the 00:00 reports.

What matters most now is that it is finally clear who has truly been the cause of this war all along. The moment Putin actually ordered a reduction in the intensity and brutality of attacks, fighting and killings decreased. The sole cause of this war and of its prolongation lies in Russia.

Zelensky made the comment after being asked about Trump’s remarks during a press conference in Kyiv.

“Excuse me, but this is a murder. This strike went to the (city) center, it did not go to the front line,” he said. “We cannot find excuses when you hit the city center with missiles, not (with) just one (missile), and if it's not just one (missile), it's not a mistake.”

Zelensky also reacted to the comments made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who publicly condemned the strike. “There was a reaction from Secretary of State Rubio, and his reaction was clear. He condemned it, and we are grateful for this reaction,” Zelensky said.

The resolution passed despite U.S. opposition, with nine countries voting against it – the United States, Russia, Belarus, Eritrea, Congo, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, and Sudan.

Earlier on Feb. 24, the U.S. voted against a UN General Assembly resolution that reaffirmed Ukraine’s territorial integrity and named Russia an aggressor.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff of spreading Russian propaganda and overstepping his authority by discussing Ukrainian territory in back-channel peace talks with Moscow.

“I believe Mr. Witkoff has adopted the strategy of the Russian side,” Zelensky said. “Consciously or not, he is spreading Russian narratives. Either way, it does not help. And I do not see any mandate for him to speak about Ukrainian territories. These lands belong to our people, to our nation, and to the future generations of Ukrainians.”

Russia may be preparing new attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure before and after Orthodox Easter, celebrated on April 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on April 17, citing information from Ukrainian intelligence.

Despite fears and Russian attacks, Ukraine managed to go through the winter without blackouts and preserve the power system, Zelensky said, praising the energy workers.

In recent days, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has reportedly proposed to U.S. President Donald Trump giving Russia unoccupied Ukrainian territory that Ukraine has full control of as the fastest way to secure a peace deal. President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected this idea as an unacceptable “red line.”

“Every day, we read the news, watch all the live broadcasts from America, from the White House, everything that happens,” said Artur, who was born and raised in Zaporizhzhia. He declined to share his last name, citing privacy concerns for his family while walking downtown with his wife, Ina, and four-year-old son on a Sunday afternoon.

“I think this is the number one topic now,” he said. “We hope that they (foreigners) will hear us, the people who live here, and hear that we want to remain Ukraine.”

We have to make people understand how dangerous Wittkoff is. He has to go.

"These lands belong to our people, to our nation, and to the future generations of Ukrainians.” Zelenskyy

Easter Sunday in Ukraine begins at sunrise with the Resurrection Service. The faithful circle the church three times in a solemn procession. At the doors, symbolizing the gates of Heaven, the priest sings “Khrystos Voskres” and strikes them with a crucifix before all enter for the Divine Liturgy. Families greet each other and share their blessed Easter baskets.

On the front lines, many Ukrainian soldiers also mark Easter - lighting candles, praying, and sharing paska and eggs - honoring tradition even in war. Today, their faith and sacrifice are part of Easter celebrations.

How Ukrainians celebrate Easter 🇺🇦

As Ukrainians gather to celebrate the Resurrection, 277 Defenders return from Russian captivity.

These men, many born after 2000, are not long out of school, yet they have already faced the horrors of war and imprisonment. Their return is more than a number - a prayer answered during one of the most revered holidays in Ukraine.

Families wept. Some waited with tears in their eyes; others stood frozen until the first embrace. Their eyes said what words could not: months of fear, pain, hope, and love.

On a day when churches ring with “Khrystos Voskres” (Christ is Risen), Ukraine rings with the joyous cries of its Defenders.

This Easter, Ukraine doesn’t just celebrate the Resurrection. It celebrates the return of its own.

Russia continues attacks despite own Easter truce, Zelenskyy says Ukraine registered extensive hostile activity including hundreds of artillery strikes, direct assaults, and drone attacks, as Moscow tries to create a "general impression of ceasefire."

At least 3 killed, 9 injured in Russian attacks against Ukraine over past 24 hours.Deadly attacks reportedly occurred after Russia's alleged Easter ceasefire was supposed to come into effect.

Russian forces target Ukrainian volunteer evacuating civilians with FPV drones during Easter 'ceasefire'. Volunteer Yevhen Tkachov was evacuating civilians from the village of Zoria in Donetsk Oblast, when they were targeted on April 20.

This is always the outcome when anyone (high or low) trusts in the fool’s gold that is Vladimir Putin’s promises.

IMO.

A report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi on the frontline as of 6:00 a.m.

Across various frontline directions, there have already been 59 cases of Russian shelling and 5 assaults by Russian units. In the sector of the Starobilsk Operational Tactical Group, one combat engagement was documented, in the Donetsk OTG sector there were three combat engagements – in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka directions, and one combat engagement took place near Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia direction. The enemy carried out dozens of FPV drone strikes.

In the Kursk region, Russian forces conducted artillery strikes and used drones.

Everywhere our warriors are responding as the enemy deserves, based on the specific combat situation. Ukraine will continue to act symmetrically.

Between 6:00 p.m. yesterday and midnight today, there were 387 instances of shelling and 19 assaults by Russian forces. Drones were used by Russians 290 times.

Overall, as of Easter morning, we can state that the Russian army is attempting to create the general impression of a ceasefire, while in some areas still continuing isolated attempts to advance and inflict losses on Ukraine. Russia must fully comply with the conditions of the ceasefire. Ukraine’s proposal to implement and extend the ceasefire for 30 days after midnight tonight remains on the table. We will act in accordance with the actual situation on the ground.

Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day. This is one of the meanings enshrined in the story of Christ. Of His earthly suffering and death – and of His resurrection, and the truth that sooner or later, yet inevitably, evil will retreat, and life will triumph.

That is what we have wanted for all 1,152 days. We are united in this. Every day – and especially today, when Ukrainians of all Christian denominations celebrate Easter on the same date. Together. We fight for Ukraine together. And we pray for Ukraine together.May evil’s hour end. May the day of life arrive. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for centuries. And we will be able to come together again. At one table. On a peaceful Easter.

May all this come true.
May God help us in this.
May there be peace.
May there be Ukraine.
Christ is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!

A new report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi on the frontline as of 12:00 p.m. on Easter Day.

Despite Ukraine declaring a symmetrical approach to Russian actions, an increase in Russian shelling and the use of kamikaze drones has been observed since 10:00 a.m. – with FPV drone usage alone doubling by the Russian army. The most active Russian operations this morning have been carried out in the Pokrovsk and Siversk directions. In these and several other areas of the frontline, Russia continues to use heavy weaponry.

Between midnight and noon today, Russian forces have already carried out 26 assaults.

We are documenting every Russian violation of its self-declared commitment to a full ceasefire for the Easter period and are prepared to provide the necessary information to our partners. In practice, either Putin does not have full control over his army, or the situation proves that in Russia, they have no intention of making a genuine move toward ending the war, and are only interested in favorable PR coverage. It’s a good thing, at least, that there were no air raid sirens.

We thank all the media, podcasters, bloggers, and everyone sharing the truth about what is happening. Instead of broadcasting religious service from Moscow, the focus should be on pressuring Moscow to genuinely commit to a full ceasefire and to maintain it for at least 30 days after Easter – to give diplomacy a real chance.

A report by Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi as of 4:00 p.m. on Easter Day:

Unfortunately, the trend of increasing the use of heavy weaponry by Russian forces continues. From the beginning of the day until 4:00 p.m., there have been a total of 46 Russian assaults across various directions and 901 instances of shelling, 448 of which involved heavy weaponry. More than 400 cases of FPV drone use by Russians have already been documented.

The highest level of Russian combat activity this Easter is in the Pokrovsk direction. Putin’s words about a “ceasefire” have also proven empty in the Kursk region, the Siversk direction, and other directions in the Donetsk region.

In the Toretsk direction, our troops unfortunately fell into a Russian ambush. Some servicemen have been killed. The Russian soldiers responsible for this will be eliminated.

The Ukrainian army is acting – and will continue to act – in a fully symmetrical manner. This Easter has clearly demonstrated that the only source of this war, and the reason it drags on, is Russia. We are ready to move toward peace and a full, unconditional, and honest ceasefire that could last for at least 30 days – but there has been no response from Russia on that so far. The situation on the frontline shows that pressure on Moscow and real oversight of the actions of the occupying forces are needed for the ceasefire to be established.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed Ukraine's front line had been hit by more than 46 Russian assaults since the start of the day on Sunday. The BBC has not independently verified these figures
