Is reality seeping in? Or will further excuses be made?

Trump is lying, trying to look credible and not like he's Putin's puppet. He idolizes Putin and the vast amount of money he thinks he will make if he aligns the US with Russia. Trump is 100% transactional.

Moscow is transferring military technologies to Pyongyang in exchange for the deployment of South Korean troops to fight against Ukraine.

The bolded “South Korean” troops is a typo from the linked article. It is North Korean troops fighting against Ukraine.

I bet Trump is telling Putin that he has to say something negative about him but don't worry he doesn't really mean it.
And that he has to do it for appearances sake.

The term he used in regard does kind of make it seem that way. Weak.

Key Takeaways:
  • US President Donald Trump expressed willingness to introduce additional sanctions targeting Russian oil and secondary sanctions against buyers of Russian oil if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not make progress towards a general ceasefire, including a ceasefire for land warfare in the near future.
  • A Russian diplomat provided additional details following Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent thinly veiled demand for regime change in Ukraine by having external parties establish a “temporary international administration” in Ukraine under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).
  • Russian forces struck a military hospital and civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv City on the night of March 29 to 30.
  • The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on March 30 that it will establish a Space Policy Department.
  • Russian forces recently advanced near Toretsk and Pokrovsk.

Logvinov and TASS are supporting Putin's recent effort to inject a new demand into discussions about the resolution to the war that is consistent with the Kremlin's long-standing effort to ensure the installation of a government friendly to Russia in Ukraine. The Kremlin is also attempting to dictate the sequencing and processes surrounding the demand while holding the ceasefire negotiation hostage to extract additional concessions from the West. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres rejected Putin's proposal to establish a temporary administration in Ukraine and stated that Ukraine has a legitimate government that must be respected on March 28.[5]

the minerals- which ones, how much, where, when.... no one knows IMO

All of them, no matter which ones, how much or where ... and from signing date till forever, it seems.

  • "all of Ukraine’s mineral and energy assets"
  • "and related infrastructure, such as ports, railways, roads and production facilities"
  • "The US would receive all royalties from the fund until Ukraine has paid off at least $100bn of war debt, plus 4 per cent interest" (after that point, somewhere way, way off in the far distant future, Ukraine would supposedly get 50%)
  • "Washington would receive a “right of first offer” on investments in all infrastructure and natural resources projects
Trump pushes to control all of Ukraine’s mineral and energy assets in sweeping new demands

Ah yes. “The Art of the Deal.” Don’t do it, Zelenskyy!!

You never know. Greg Norman apparently helped Australia get through to Trump when he wanted to tariff us during his previous stint as president, and Greg has been called to help with the tariff issues again.

Maybe a golfer can help with Trump's stance on Ukraine.

Golfing legend Greg Norman acting as Australia’s intermediary with US President Donald Trump as new wave of tariffs loom

The leaders of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are sounding the alarm: the ceasefire in Ukraine could dangerously spill over to the Baltic states, the Financial Times reports.
Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur warns that half of the 600,000 Russian troops currently stationed in Ukraine could be redeployed to the borders of the Baltic states.
Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovilė Šakalienė echoes this concern:
"Let us not deceive ourselves - Russia will not stop in Ukraine. A ceasefire will only give it time to rearm and become stronger."
The message is clear: appeasement only moves the front line, it does not stop the war.

(I'm beginning to think Trump missed his true calling as a prospector)

Russia says rare earth metal talks with the US have begun - report

Washington and Moscow have begun discussions on projects related to Russian rare earth metals, the head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, Kirill Dmitriev, has said.

“Rare earth metals are an important area of cooperation and, of course, we have started discussions on various rare earth metals and projects in Russia,” he told pro-Kremlin Russian newspaper Izvestia.

Dmitriev, who was part of Russia’s negotiating team at talks with US officials in Saudi Arabia in February, also said some companies have already expressed interest in the projects, without going into more detail.

Izvestia reported the cooperation may be further discussed at the next round of Russia-US talks that may take place in a couple of weeks in Saudi Arabia.

In February, Vladimir Putin suggested that the US might be interested in exploring joint exploration for rare earth metals deposits in Russia, which has the world’s fifth-largest reserves of the metals used in lasers and military equipment.

Donald Trump said on Thursday the US would sign a minerals and natural resources deal with Ukraine soon. Kyiv seems to have little choice but to sign a deal if it wants US military support to continue.

Trump has claimed any such deal would allow the US to recoup hundreds of billions of dollars it spent on military aid to Kyiv. Ukraine wants the deal to include references to long-term US security guarantees to protect it from Russian attacks after the war is over.

But the specifics are still being negotiated and the US has so far signalled that it will not provide significant security guarantees to Ukraine as part of the agreement. You can read more about what rare earth minerals are and why Trump wants access to them in this useful explainer.

Three years ago, our warriors liberated Bucha from the Russian occupiers. And the world saw what the Russian occupation truly is: people killed in the streets, people tortured, graves in the yards of ordinary houses.

Since then, no one in the world can say they do not know what Ukraine is defending. Ukraine is fighting for the lives of its people. It is fighting to ensure that no one, ever again, does on our land what the Russian occupiers did.

Eternal memory to all those whose lives were taken by the Russian war. Eternal gratitude to all our people who are defending Ukraine.

Russian demands and ultimatums have remained unchanged over the years.

Russia wants to limit Ukraine’s army, defense capabilities, military assistance from partners, and block Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

Russia's rhetoric reveals its true intentions. All of these demands have one thing in common: Moscow wants a weak, defenseless Ukraine.

This is not about NATO or "security concerns." This is about Russia’s ability to destroy the Ukrainian state at a later stage, occupy its territories, seize its mineral resources, and use its human and other potential for further aggression. There must be no illusions about this.

It is worth noting that Moscow's rhetoric has escalated to the 2022 level. Russia tries to take advantage of the current geopolitical momentum.

We can see this Russian strategy and will never accept anything that leaves Ukraine weak or defenseless. To the contrary, a real and fair peace requires strong and long-term security guarantees to preserve it.

Parliamentary representatives from 17 European countries and the European Parliament arrived in Kyiv on March 31, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk announced.

"Speakers and deputy speakers of the parliaments of Belgium, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, Croatia, Czechia, and Sweden, as well as representatives of the European Parliament, arrived in the capital of Ukraine."

The Netherlands will allocate 2 billion euros ($2.2 billion) to support Ukraine in 2025, said Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans and State Secretary Gijs Tuinman on March 31.

This support will include 500 million euros ($540 million) for Ukraine's Drone Line project, Brekelmans noted. Ukraine's Defense Ministry announced the project in February, presenting it as a new military initiative aimed at integrating unmanned aerial systems into front-line operations.

Sweden will provide Ukraine with a military aid package worth almost $1.6 billion, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson announced on March 31.

The latest package is Sweden's largest tranche of military assistance since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, according to Jonson.

"The package includes, among other things, support for Ukraine’s air defense, artillery, satellite communications, and maritime capacity," the minister said on X.

Refat Chubarov, Chair of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, reported on 30 March that ‘searches’ of four homes had been carried out during the night from 21 to 22 March 2025 in Yevpatoria, with four people ‘detained: Tetiana Maliar (b. 1968); Tetiana’s brother Valentyn Maliar (b. 1974); her son Anatoliy Rossikhin (b. 1986) and her daughter Olha Behei (b. 1992). Olha was taken away, despite having two underage children: Alisa, who is 11 and 7-year-old Ruslan.

The four relatives’ whereabouts were concealed for a week. It is now clear that they are held in SIZO-2, one of the remand prisons in occupied Simferopol which Russia created after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The prison is known to be under the control of the FSB and to be used for Russia’s ever-mounting number of political prisoners. The four appear to be accused of activities which the FSB are claiming fall under ‘state treason’, Article 275 of Russia’s criminal code. ...

US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz used the Signal messaging app to discuss potential peace settlements for the war in Ukraine apart from the discussions about strikes against Houthi rebels, which caused a huge scandal recently.

Wall Street Journal reports that for Trump, Waltz’s greatest transgression wasn’t creating a Signal chat to coordinate Houthi strikes or posting Israeli intelligence on an unsecured network, but rather having Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg’s contact information and accidentally adding him to the conversation.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated Bucha from Russian occupation on 31 March 2022. The Russian occupation of Bucha lasted 33 days – from 27 February to 31 March 2022. During this period, 561 civilians, including 12 children, died as a result of Russian aggression.

Shevchuk revealed that 100 of these soldiers are linked to war crimes, with 34 already notified of suspicion.

“We have solved 72 murders committed by Russian soldiers in Bucha,” the National Police reported. “Twenty-four indictments have been sent to court.”

Justice Must Be Served to Prevent Evil from Proliferating – Speech by the President to the Participants of the Bucha Summit

We remember the tragedy of every such city in Ukraine, every village. Everyone sees what happened to Bakhmut, what happened to Avdiivka, Vuhledar, and many other cities, towns and villages of ours that have virtually ceased to exist: they are nothing but ruins, because this is what comes with the Russian flag. We remember each Russian strike. We remember how they destroyed our people – our prisoners of war – in Olenivka. We remember how people were tortured in “Izolyatsia” in Donetsk – a prison that became the embodiment of the “Russian world.” One of the most significant and most telling symbols of the Russian system and this Russian war against Ukraine is the graves of ordinary people in the yards of their own homes. This can never be forgotten. All of these are man-made catastrophes, committed not only by the Russian state but by specific individuals, specific Russian occupiers, each of whom has a name and a surname and must be prosecuted according to the law for everything they have done. We will not forgive Russia's crimes and all this war, because to forgive would mean to agree that a system like the current Russian one – a system that feeds on people – supposedly has the right to exist and to expand at the expense of other nations.

Russia Must Not Escape Accountability for Crimes Committed in Ukraine During This War – Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Bucha Summit

Russia should neither benefit from nor be rewarded for this war and should not escape rightful accountability for what it has done. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized this during his address at the Bucha Summit.

The Head of State noted that three years ago, the world began to truly grasp the full scale of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine when it saw civilians killed in the streets of Bucha and the evidence of abuse and torture.

“This evidence showed that this is not just a war of one state against another – but a full-scale confrontation between two systems: our shared European system, where human life and dignity matter, and the Russian system, where anyone can be killed, anyone can be abused, anyone can be deprived of their home,” the President said.

We Will Continue Working to Ensure That Russia Is Held Accountable for This War – And That This Accountability Is Tangible – Address by the President

I just spoke with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and thanked him for the support. We coordinated our steps – joint steps, our joint diplomacy, and the work of our teams to bring peace closer and guarantee security. We are preparing a meeting between our military representatives for the preparation of contingents. We appreciate the UK’s position regarding pressure on Russia – pressure must be strong enough to prevent the Russians from expanding this war. All the more so now, as Moscow blatantly makes a mockery of our partners’ efforts to advance a peace agenda – with constant new drone attacks and relentless, brutal shelling. Only through pressure can this be ended and Russia forced into peace.

Trump pushes to control all of Ukraine’s mineral and energy assets in sweeping new demands

These sound like Ukraine and Ukrainians become Trump's slave state. Where the entire populous must work in mines and ports, roads, and raiolways to produce unspecififed minerals to go to the Trump Family organization. Very much like something the Third Reicn does and pats itself on the back for being so clever.

This is not in any way critical of Russia, or actually causing Russia to do anything.
