Official address of the movement "Wagner, Play":

"There are rumours about the death of the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin. We directly say that we suspect the Kremlin officials led by Putin of an attempt to kill him!

If the information about Prigozhin's death is confirmed, we will organize a second "March of Justice" on Moscow!

He'd better be alive, it's in your own interests...."

National Resistance Center: Wagner convoys head to Russia after fatal crash. In the aftermath of the plane crash that reportedly killed Prigozhin, convoys of Wagner fighters are departing Belarus and heading to Russia, the Center reported on Aug. 23.

Sources in Belarus said that some Wagner base camps were being dismantled the evening of Aug. 23, and that members of the private military group were forming convoys to leave the country.

"The convoys are likely heading towards the border with Russia," the Center said.

According to the Center's sources in Belarus, the Belarusian government did not authorize the mercenary group's withdrawal. Belarusian special services are reportedly trying to intercept the convoys at the border.

Expert breaks down clues from video of Prigozhin-linked plane crash

@seungminkim MOSCOW (AP) — A business jet crash in Russia kills 10, and mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was on passenger list, authorities say.

@maxseddon Russia says Yevgeny Prigozhin was on a plane that crashed on a flight from Moscow to St Petersburg. All passengers and e crew, are dead. Wagner-linked channels say Russian air defense *shot down the plane* – the same private jet Prigozhin regularly uses.

Wasn't Prgozhin in Africa just the day before? Why was he in a "business jet" flying over Russia today? I wonder if he and his closest colleagues were 'encouraged' to fly to Russia.

I saw one media tweeter say that Prigozhin fell out of the sky into a bathtub of polonium.

So will his paid mercenaries be loyal and avenge his killing or will they simply move on to the next person who will pay them the big bucks? I'm leaning toward the latter.

WSJ: US officials do not believe air defense shot down Prigozhin plane. The plane crash which allegedly killed Russian warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin was likely caused by a bomb onboard or "some other form of sabotage," according to unnamed U.S. officials cited by the Wall Street Journal on Aug. 24.

Pentagon: US to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in October. The U.S. will start training Ukrainians to fly and maintain F-16 fighter jets in October following an English-language course for pilots, Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder announced on Aug. 24.

The training will take place at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona, facilitated by the Air National Guard’s 162nd Wing, according to Ryder. Pentagon: US to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in October (kyivindependent.com)

An exclusive video from the cabin of Prigozhin's airplane has appeared online

It turned out that the airplane was put up for sale for 5 million euros and buyers came to watch it on the day of the crash. Telegram-channel VChK-OGPU publishes their identities.

They were representatives of Rusjet Airlines: Alexandra Yulina, chairman of the board of directors, and Sergei Klokotov, technical director. In order to get them into the guarded area and then on board, the buyers were declared as passengers on the flight.

After inspecting the outside and inside of the airplane, they quietly left.

US intelligence believes Prigozhin died in plane crash - WSJ According to the publication, the plane, with Prigozhin on board, was not hit by a surface-to-air missile. According to preliminary data, there was an explosion on board, presumably caused by a bomb. A version of sabotage is also being considered. In turn, the TV channel CNN, based on data from satellite images, reports that the debris left after the crash of the business jet, scattered at a small distance from each other. However, the tail of the plane was found far away from the rest of the wreckage, which may indicate that the process of destruction of the plane could have begun in the air.

Russian media, mainly associated with the Wagner group's Telegram channel Grey Zone, had linked a second business jet with the tail number RA-02748 with the mercenary group, and had reported that it was also in the air at the time of the crash.

But the jet operator, Russian company Jetica LLC, denied any such link.

"Neither the plane itself nor its passengers are related to Wagner and never have been," Jetica's CEO Sergey Trifonov told Reuters.

This plane had not been rented out, Trifonov said, though he declined to say who its owner was.

The RA-02748 was landing in St. Petersburg on Wednesday evening on a flight from Moscow when the plane believed to be carrying Prigozhin crashed, flight tracking data shows. It then took off back to Moscow about 20 minutes later.

3h ago13.01 EDT

A summary of today’s developments

  • President Putin last night ordered Wagner fighters to sign an oath of allegiance to the Russian state after a deadly plane crash killed Yevgeny Prigozhin, the volatile chief of the mercenary group.
  • President Biden said US officials are trying to determine precisely how Prigozhin’s plane was brought down, leaving no survivors. Russia criticised Biden for expressing his lack of surprise that Prigozhin had been killed and cautioned that it was not appropriate for Washington to make such remarks.
  • Russia reported a new drone attack on Moscow in the early hours today which again forced authorities to temporarily shut down all three major airports serving the capital. Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the drone was brought down by air defence systems.
  • Pope Francis urged young Russians to be “sowers of seeds of reconciliation” in a virtual address to a congregation of 400 in St Petersburg that gathered for the annual Catholic youth day.
  • Russian forces struck a cafe in a key frontline area in northeastern Ukraine today, killing two civilians and wounding a third, regional officials said. The shelling near the city of Kupiansk took place amid warnings from UK officials that Russia may try to retake the area.
  • US reporter Evan Gershkovich appealed against a Russian court’s decision to extend his pre-trial detention by three months after his detention under spying charges which he denies, according to documents published by a Moscow court. Unlike many western reporters, he had continued to report from Russia during Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine.
  • German magazine Der Spiegel published a lengthy and detailed investigation into the attack on the Nord Stream pipeline. It cites German investigators – who are undertaking “the most important investigation of Germany’s postwar history because of its potential political implications” – and reported that “a striking number of clues point to Ukraine”.
