I feel like we've all entered an alternate dimension with the threads being merged, (although I certainly understand why it's being done). I've been searching stuff but being directed to threads that no longer exist; I've typed posts that have never shown up on the thread I thought I was on ... I'm so confused! LOL. I would search for Pasty's handwriting sample but I'm afraid I might somehow be transported to a completely different site, never to return to WS again!

Did Karr ever use those initals that we know of, at any other time except in his yearbook and possibly the ransom note?

i tried a search and i'm not sure if i did it wrong but i tried 'patsy's handwriting' and couldn't find anything, i did 'handwriting analysis' and got lots of hits, but alot of the subjects have several pages and i could be here all night going through them to find a link. would be nice if someone had one handy...

I interpreted Misty's question this way -

For those of us that think that the Ramseys are innocent, do we also believe that the ransom note does NOT match Patsy's handwriting but does match Karr's?

For those of us that think that the Ramseys are guilty, do we also believe that the ransom note DOES match Patsy's handwriting but does NOT match Karr's?

And overall, do we believe that our individual perceptions of the Ramsey's guilt or innocence is influencing the way we view the similarities or differences between the writing samples?

I just made it even worse, didn't I? LOL.

Okay, here's my last try - I believe that the Ramseys are innocent. I also see stunning similarities between the ransom note and the yearbook signing by John Karr. I do believe that my beliefs about the Ramsey's innocence could be helping me to see similarities that perhaps aren't quite as stunning as I think them to be.

I think the Ramseys are innocent, but I do see many similarities between Patsy's writing and the RN.

As for Karr, I have no idea if he's guilty or not, but I don't see many similarities at all. Since one is his younger writing, and one is in all capitals, it's hard to compare them. But with spacing, I see a huge difference.

I would like to see how he crosses his words out when he makes a mistake. For instance, I put two lines through the word, and if it's important information (say a credit card number) I will write many numbers over the top of it with the same pen so there's no way to tell.

Looks like the person in the RN scribbled in oval motions over words that were errors.

This is the first time that I've seen Patsy's handwriting in a comparative analysis to the ransom note--there are some definite similarities--I think she easily could be the author of the ransom note--Thank you posters for those excellent links

I saw a sample of Karr's handwriting on Fox also--it does seem to be somewhat similar in style of the ransom note--anybody else think so?

I saw it on Fox yesterday and thought it looked pretty similar to the ransom note but it was only a small sample so did not get to excited about it.

Sounds kinda like a cop-out to me, but this is where we are so far.

The way the messeges were composed? Refering to what?

To answer Misty: I believe Patsy wrote the RN and killed her daughter (an accident). I do see similarities between the confessors writing and the RN especially the d. I also see differences. I find Patsies sample to be a much closer match IF she were writing with a different hand then she normally does (slant and shakiness of letters). I'm no expert and base my belief on her guilt on other points then the handwriting comparison, but I do find that very interesting. I believe either of them could have wrote it, but if I had to choose only 1, I would say Patsy is closer. Hope that helped.

But realistically speaking, Patsy and John Ramsey are (and were) intelligent people. Why on Earth would either one of them put the exact amount in a ransom note if they wanted to throw off police? That would make no sense at all. It would be more likely that someone would do that in order to frame the parents, IMO. Additionally, while there are startling similarities between the ransom note and Patsy's writing, you can see that the writing is very shaky. Is that because of adrenalin, fear, or was someone trying to copy Patsy's writing in an additional attempt to frame her, (someone that likes to play with different writing styles, for instance - someone whose writing often varies within single words)?

I notice about the ransom note that the person seems resentful towards JR. It could be a facade, it could be just anger in general, but I think that if an intruder did this, they enjoyed doing it in terms of inflicting pain on JR and belittling him and controlling him. For example, what's with the line about the two guys that are watching over JB not being too fond of him? Just plain weird. In any case, if you hate someone AND you're a pedophile AND you're completely sick in the head, what better way to get back at someone than to use their child for your own purposes and then set it up to look like the parents did it?

Anyway, FWIW, as a believer in the Ramseys innocence, I can indeed see distinct similarities between her writing and the ransom note. But I can't see her writing a practice note and then leaving it to be found, using her own notepad, using her own writing, and asking for the exact amount of her husband's bonus as the ransom. That would be idiotic.

Was the bonus $118,000, btw? Someone said last night that the bonus was AROUND that amount. I don't recall.
