Why do people begrudge professionals offering their opinions? Weather paid or not?

Neither Jake nor Xanthe are charities. Jake is doing it on his own time, all he asked for was to be compensated for his flight from NSW IMO

Don't most people like to get paid for their work?

Do those that don't like Xanthe or Jake , feel the same about Ron Idles / Charlie Bezzino etc putting forward his / their opinions?

At the end of the day we all seem to read & watch them...

I'm thankful that people just want to help :)

I think there has only been two police pressers?

The first one with the female local area commander, where a reporter asks .... we have received reports that police are investigating her movements at a Ballarat hospitality venue prior to her disappearance. Is there any truth to that?
And she responds with .... yeah, I don't have anything to provide comment on that at this time.

And a second police presser where Missing Persons, Mark Hatt, took over the case six days after Samantha disappeared, and there was another (male) officer answering questions also. I didn't hear any questions or commentary about the night before or a hospitality venue in that presser.

If there is something else out there, please post it. It would be interesting to listen to.

imo
Was definately two times that question has been asked. One with female PO and the other one with male PO. I can no longer find the one with the male PO. When asked, he said something like Yeah, no. We're done here. And he walked off. I watched it the entire way through. Someone here posted it in the last few days. Odd that it is missing. I thought he was asked about the Gold Club the night before, but I could be mistaken.

This is the 2nd presser with the male officer ...... Link to the presser.

Posting this - not claiming it is related but definitely curious - from public/open FB page

Ballarat Fire Brigade CFA

10 h ·

A 4:30am start for members with a fire alarm and a car fire.
Crews attended a car fire in Woowookarung Regional Park, on arrival the fire had spread to bushland, quick action by crews stopped the spread of the fire.
Mt Warrenheip and Buninyong-Mount Helen Fire Brigade supported at this incident with Forest Fire Management Victoria taking over the scene on their arrival, Victoria Police also attended and are investigating.
It’s very disappointing that this occurred and especially on a day of Total Fire Ban."

I’ve been concocting all sorts of scenarios & going down many a rabbit hole including the possibility that Sam & her iPhone got separated. But she is still wearing her Apple Watch.

Someone turned her phone on so it pinged the tower, but turned it off again as there’s been nothing else from it.

Question for Apple Watch experts: would it be possible to track the movements of the Apple Watch, with it being shown in a different area ?

I think it may depend what type it is.

From this link it seems she could find people & devices. Would that mean she should be able to ping MM’s Apple Watch or phone ?

That's not it either. It was one po and closer up
@mondayschild transcript of the presser mentions it …. (The presser with the female inspector and the family plea)

Journalist mentions having info that LE may be looking into a 'movement' at a Ballarat Hospitality venue prior to SM's disappearance - journalist asks "is there any truth to that?" police officer says "yeah I don't have anything to provide comment on that at this time" (didn't answer)

Wow ... it is easy to see that if Samantha is out there, she could have been missed.
sometimes people take for granted when someone is searched for as it being quite easy. That certainly looks like some rugged bushland.

I remember searching around Byron bay for Theo hayez, some of it was very rugged. Once you’ve been involved in a bushland search, it’s quite easy to imagine something being missed.

Obviously don’t wanna be too graphic, when someone passes theres decomposition and the smell that goes along with it.

And while it was mentioned earlier about the possibility of animals causing SM’s disappearance (which I highly doubt), if her body was in the bush even for a few days who knows what the scavenger animals could do. Possibly spreading body parts over a greater distance etc.

It’s horrific to think of, but that’s the reality of a person missing in the elements. I hope anyone who isn’t a professional out searching for SM realises the magnitude of what they are looking for. We all hope for rainbows and sunshine but life isnt always like that. Seeing a body, or parts of, and even smelling decomposition isn’t fun at all. Trust me on that.

There was a case here where a man went missing and wasn't found for a long time.

It was only a man who was walking past and saw the bundle of rags, and recognised the smell and went to investigate.

This was a well used walkway and many people must have walked past what they thought was just a bundle of rags :(

Something that jumped out to me is that the police believe that Samantha made it into the forest where she usually runs (presumably Canadian Forest).

And violent offenders in the area have been under police scrutiny.
"And violent offenders in the area have been under police scrutiny."

gangs? kids? rapists?

as a runner, SM did not likely have more than a watch or phone though people have been murdered
for a phone, but they would usually leave evidence, no? are there ATVs in the forest? do people try
to live in the forest? not familiar with AUS...
Hmm. There aren't any large land predator animals in Australia that would be capable of attacking a fully grown person and leaving no trace of them/the attack, IMO. We don't have bears or big cats etc. There are crocodiles, of course-- but they are in areas with bodies of water. I don't believe there are crocs in VIC. It might be too cold for them down there.

Apologies if this has been discussed in these threads previously.
snakes? ...but they do not transport bodies or phones...
