SC SC - Amber Berbiglia, 23, North Myrtle Beach, 3 May 2013

 • #341
We've discussed the possibility of the perp being a cop or someone pretending to be a cop. Not sure if this has been posted but wanted to throw it out there.

Thom Berry, spokesman for SLED which investigated the case, confirmed Monday that the charges filed Friday are separate from a similar case filed last year against Jordan.
Jordan was also charged with misconduct in office in May 2013, an arrest warrant served at the time said.
According to the 2013 warrant, Jordan told a woman he had pulled over that he would dismiss the traffic citation if the "offender would pull her shirt up for him." That incident occurred on or about May 2, 2013, the warrant states.

Thanks. I have been thinking about Amber all day today. Will her case ever be solved?

BBM I hope it will someday be solved. I wish LE would make some type of press release to let us know what (if anything) is going on with the case.

I have not read this thread yet but i was just wondering does anyone think this may be connected to Brittney D....

I thought of this case when I was reading up on the Hae Lee case. I'm sorry to see no arrests have been made, but not surprised.

I'm sure Law Enforcement figured out pretty quick that Amber was killed by someone she knew who she let in her car and drove with to the murder site. Probably a jilted/boyfriend/rejected suitor/scorned admirer situation. They most likely have a prime suspect they have been investigating. The problem with these cases is that the prime suspects tend to be clean cut, middle class types with no criminal records who can afford good legal consul. Without indisputable forensic evidence, juries are reluctant to convict.

BBM It is possible the two are related, but there are some real differences in the two cases. Both victims were young women and both were killed/abducted in the Myrtle Beach SC area.

Britt was abducted and has never found. Amber was found bludgeoned to death on the side of the road beside her car. Britt may or may not have known her abductors. Her abductor could have been part of the group she was with at Myrtle Beach or a complete stranger. She was on foot while Amber was in her car. Amber had been into town earlier in the day to pay a few bills, etc and appeared headed back to her home. She was killed by someone she had either given a ride to or someone she stopped along the road to pick up or assist. Her killer could have been a stranger, but more than likely was someone she knew or at least thought she knew.

Is there anything new at all in Ambers case?

Berbiglia’s body was found under a bridge on the Robert Edge parkway, a major road in North Myrtle Beach. Investigators are hoping anyone who saw a woman or anyone else near the bridge on the busy road to call police.

Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler says detectives are trying to find out what she was doing and who she was with.

Question...when they say,"anyone who saw a woman or anyone else near the bridge" is Amber "the woman" or could LE have a sighting of a woman(perp) near the bridge? They are trying to find out,"what she was doing and who she was with"...again, is "she" Amber or a possible female perp? I guess that because they say,"near the bridge" and Amber and her vehicle were found under the bridge, it sounds like maybe they are looking at a female being the killer?

I think you are on to something here. I wonder if it was a co-worker or fellow student who could have been in the car with her. :seeya:

Agree 100%.

I'm not going to list any names, as it may mean nothing, but the April 2009 criminal case lists some else's name in that criminal case. That name belongs to an officer. When I searched his name in court records, he has quite a few of his own cases where he is a defendant. He is attached to a Little River address that is very close to where AB was found dead. He is 53 and may have a 19 yo son with same name. This case is where he appears to be the arresting officer(it is her only criminal case in Horry Co.) AB actually had to bond out... It was the destruction of property case with the second charge of disorderly conduct. In addition, in 2011 Amber moved to or was associated with an address in Little River. (As others have noted)

Perhaps, this criminal charge affected or was about to affect her job opportunities?

ETA
Of note she had a few minor speeding violations...maybe she would be inclined to pull over if she thought she was about to get another ticket.

Just an aside: She shares a birthday with me. I can relate to the traffic court issues :)

Not that it means anything but both she and Heather E shared the same astrological sign of Cancer.

Very interesting!!!

*heavy sigh* I cannot get over the fact that there must be some DNA from the perp on Amber's body, somewhere. She clearly fought hard for her life, was there nothing under her fingernails? I'm stuck between a cop, former cop, fake cop, obsessed male or full of rage male/female. This murder just screams PERSONAL to me. It doesn't appear that robbery or sexual assault were motives. It just looks like Amber was finishing up one chapter in her life, tying up loose ends and getting ready to start the rest of her life with the man of her dreams....someone wasn't going to let her do that. She wasn't simply injured, she was beaten so badly that LE first thought she'd been shot. The level of anger and rage it would take to accomplish wounds of that degree is...scary. It's just beyond me that you can beat someone to death in broad daylight and get away with it. :tantrum: I hope that they have DNA and I pray that they are so quiet because they are actually working really hard on this...even though it doesn't feel like it.

It's sad to see not a single media update or plea from LE in almost a year now. Amber's mother mentioned in one of the last videos that she thought the case was being swept under the rug, I'm wondering if they're even trying myself.

I don't claim to know her sexual orientation but what about an obsessed female?

1. Do you think Amber deliberately drove to the recovery location or did she get stopped by someone as she was driving through?

2. Did any of Ambers friends or family ever travel on the recovery road with her, prior to that day?

3. What is the motive?

4. Why did this crime occur in broad daylight?

5. Ambers sister was meeting with LE last year. Has any progress in the investigation made?

6. Are there any similar slayings like Ambers before or since?

All of my responses are MOO. Very little info has been released by LE, so we don't know how much evidence they may or may not have.

(1) Could be either way. My understanding is the road she was found on is the route she would take to her home. She may have (a) picked up someone in town (where she was last seen) and was giving them a ride and that person or persons turned on her, (b) stopped to pick up someone walking that she knew or at least thought she knew, (c) someone tricked her into stopping (laying beside the road or flagged her down), (d) someone forced her to stop by blocking the road or (e) someone posing as a LE officer tricked her into stopping.

(2) Don't know about that, but again the road is a road she could take to her apartment from town.

(3) Unknown-She had no enemies that I am aware of. Not believed to be a robbery or carjacking. Possibly mistaken identity. Could have been an ex-boyfriend, but she was engaged to be married and had been with the fiance for several months. So, any ex-lover would have been way in her past. Considering the brutality of the murder (she was badly beaten and her head was crushed), it seems it was someone who really hated her or perhaps someone who hated women in general. There is the possibility of a psychopath she just happened to cross paths with, but the chances of that aren't good. There were no similar slaying in the area either before or since that I a aware of.

(4) I think this was a crime of opportunity and not pre-planned. The murderer struck when the opportunity presented itself.

(5) I was not aware of the meeting and haven't heard of any new developments in the case since the beginning. I don't believe a suspect or POI has been named.

(6) There have been so murders and missing persons in the area, but no crimes similar to this one that I am aware of.

"Amber was a vivacious, vibrant personality. She was sunshine. She was like a firefly. She lit up the room wherever she was. She was bouncy and bubbly," added Suzanne Henclewski, Amber's Aunt.

"She was going to be getting married in a month or so and now she's not gonna have that. I talked to the bridal store and I had to cancel her bridal dress. My daughter is getting married in two weeks and she's not gonna be there," said Open with tears in her eyes.

But Michelle says Amber didn't go down easy, something that was evident at Amber's wake. "The man made me have her wear a long sleeve dress to cover up the bruises and the cuts on her arms. There was a fight. She put up a good fight they said."

I think it may have been someone obsessed with her and couldn't stand to see her marry another. Another option is a SK - some have been known to travel around the country and use different murder methods to remain undetected. Hopefully LE has DNA that will eventually reveal the killer. Amber fought hard for her life.

Could be but I was thinking of an obsessed female who is obsessed because her husband may have shown interest in Amber.....and I don't believe that Amber was cheating on her fiance.
