I know I saw that too. I would love to hear from him. Sometimes I think it was is FOI act thing that caused LE to come forward and then sometimes I think it was the fact that they want POIs to squirm.

Police investigating Drexel case as a homicide, friends react

Friends of a missing Chili teenager got the devastating news today. Police now believe Brittanee Drexel is dead.

"It makes it worse knowing that someone actually made the choice to hurt her," said Charlene Capo.

Capo's daughter, Casey, was best friends with Drexel.

Investigators believe the 18-year-old was murdered while on spring break in South Carolina. Capo says her heartaches for Drexel's family.

"As a parent I can't imagine the horror that they've gone through and that they are going to spend the rest of their lives going through," said Capo.

Casey Capo did everything she could to find her friend.

She organized fundraisers and even went to Myrtle Beach to help search.

Police now think they know what happened to Drexel and are close to making an arrest.

"They took away one of my closest friends and one of my best friends.

I really pray they get their karma," said Casey Capo.

Police say they have several persons of interest in this case.

It will be interesting to finally find out what happened and hopefully will bring closure for her family.

I hope they fry these bastards!! :furious:

Totally forgot about that Debbie and welcome back :)

Thanks Rochestergirl,
Brittanee hasn't been far from my mind as I am busy with school and work. All my time is mostly in the books.
I have prayed that there would be a break in this case and here we are.

Hi everyone... I am back from my hiatus, it's been a busy weekend for me.. Let's kick around some ideas....

I am SO frustrated with this timeline! There is still a lot of confusion on specific times. I have found several inconsistencies in media reports. In order to build a theory, we *NEED* the following info:

1) What was the EXACT time B left BW.

2) What was the EXACT time B sent her last text message.

If we had this information, we should be able to determine if this was a forced abduction, or not... For the purposes of my post, I am going to assume that she continued to text after the abduction. (Even if it was a voluntary abduction, at first)

It only takes about 15-20 minutes to be out of myrtle beach from that strip near the BW. If she had continued to text past this point, she would have known she was leaving myrtle beach... Why?

Believe me when I say there is NO kind of party happening south of myrtle beach. you got a few island golf-resort towns, and then the town of georgetown, and then ghetto for a while before you get to McClellanville/Awendaw are.. The ONLY thing in the G-C county line is drugs. Cocaine is my guess...

Why would she have gotten into the car with these people? I hate to speculate on this, but I think it was for drugs. I don't think BD was a drug user, but maybe, in the heat of the moment with PB and the rest of the gang, she gave in... Perhaps someone in the gang picked up a bag of blow earlier during their visit. Believe me, cocaine does not last any longer than the night it was purchased. So they wanted some more.. Maybe B thought she was going to meet these dealers somewhere right along the strip.. Hopping in a car to make a drug deal is not unusual. Also, a drug dealer saying something like "I got that, we just gotta take a ride to my boy's house to pick it up", is not unusual either...

This would explain a few things - 1) Why the texting continued after the disappearance 2) the connection to the G-C county line area. 3) possibly could explain why she did not "directly" know these people.

PB and the rest of the gang, they make my blood boil. In there statements, they paint themselves as goodygoody angels... I see straight through that. The fact that the gang booked out of there with a quickness, the statement made by PB about babysitting, the fact PB got a lawyer, and the pictures and comments I have seen, all that indicates to me right away that they are peices of human garbage... IMHO

I've always felt that the Chili Gang were not the perps. They're not smart enough to cover up a crime. I do, however, feel that they are hiding something. My theory above could explain the info/names that the gang is protecting.

I'm curious about the Georgetown High school visit... I'm thinking it was probably nothing. High schoolers say some really stupid stuff, and someone may have overheard it, and contacted LE, who subsequently HAD to follow up on it.

The lie detector tests don't mean much to me. They were probably used to verify a statement made. If any of these POIs were in fear of their life, LE would want to be SURE they were telling the truth before they offered any type of protection.

I am once again, frustrated as all hell, because I thought I read something Saturday about a search warrant being executed. Now I can't find it!! Who's going to help? :) If a search warrant was executed, you can bet your sweet 4$$ some solid evidence was found. A search warrant is not easy to obtain. It takes a signature of a solicitor (district attorney) as well as a magistrate judge. If the basis of the warrant is from a statement, at least 1 other corroborating statement is needed. This may explain the 2 polygraphs.

One other thing that has me perplexed, is WHY this information was released. Someone posted a while back that this could be a strategic move by LE to rattle some cages, and hopefully somebody will screw up (i.e. try to relocate a body, make some phone calls, intimidate someone) or LE could be blowing smoke in an effort to satisfy the public desire for continued investigation. If I were the perp, I would be out of SC as soon as the news was released.

Nothing back from SLED regarding my FoIA request (sunglasses) - will post the very moment I hear something :)

As always - My posts are designed to help stimulate thought, and they are theory only.

I hope everyone is doing well!!! I know I have been pondering this for hours on end and I am having trouble coming up with reasonable scenarios that fit with the evidence we have.

one other thing, I have had to FORCE myself to not read the comments posted on the newspaper's and local tv websites. The comments I read there make me want to smack someone. In regard to that, here is my message:

"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment that you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. "

I think PB and his gang left town because the boys that Britt was with notified him that she was deceased. He had to have some knowledge of her fate, and I mean more than "she's missing"

No doubt. I remember seeing posted on one of the gang's FB pages, I think it was from the Vietnamese kid, written "It was good times in MB until all that weird sh*t happened."

Hmm.

Like I've said 1000 times, they know something.

I am going from memory on this- I thought they said she left the BW around 8pm and the last text message from her bf (JG) was at 9:16pm- so there is at least an hour. When I went to the blvd and to the BW to check it out I made sure it was the same time that she left there. I feel that the text she sent the girls she was originally here with "that she was going to another friend's hotel" was articulated by the guys she was with to buy them time. It is very possible that these guys had this planned from earlier that day on the beach.

Nice post Matt,

I think your post pretty much confirms the fear of the majority on here. The whole drug running myth. Especially, if you’re saying that area is known for drugs. Some of us caught on very early that she was the minor of the group, so a minor with possession isn't good, but not as bad as an adult. I can also comfortably say that she and the entire ROC gang are familiar with drugs. I am not saying she is a frequent user or anything like that but I don't think she would be freaked out by the presence of them.

I also asked the same question... WHY are the police releasing this without an arrest? Better yet they said after an arrest might come this week, or it might come next year? I am still confident in the police down there. I am willing to bet they have something very solid. You simply can't mess something like this up unless you want an early retirement.

I am going to reach out to a police friend of mine, let's see what happens this week folks. I have also reached out to the Drexel's and asked them if they have asked the police, if they believe anyone from ROC knew or know these people. They told me they have asked. We should get an answer on that soon. I think it is a pivotal question.

Debbie,

This is good thinking and I'd wondered the same. Why would the people in the car try to buy time unless the ROC gang knew who she was with? Maybe she was doing the buy, and had the cash. Maybe the original intent was just to rob the young out-of-towners until they got Brittanee in the car. Then somebody took a look at her had some other ideas for her.

I can't tell you the numbers of suburban kids I knew who'd go downtown where I live to buy and got robbed. Sometimes they got beat down, too.

I am thinking she would have gone with them due to the fact that she met them as at least aquaintences of PB and the fact they were giving her attention that the others did not.

I don't feel she went for drugs but who really knows what she was into. The guys on the other hand , well that could be a different story. They may have forced themselves on her and that is not what she intended to happen.

It will definately be interesting to see the facts unfold once the arrests are made and the truth is completely told.

Very well could explain why she left the BW so quickly after getting there and the text probably wasn't from JO about the shorts, it could have been those guys saying they were waiting for her to go make the run. She seems the niave type, not to drugs and what they are and maybe she was an occasional user but she was niave as to what type of people she was dealing with.

Police identified at least three people of interest a while ago through tips that came in about the case, but the information was not made public until Friday.
Lt. Neil Johnson with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, said he could not provide any information about the people of interest in the case because it would release too many details.
“We’ve been looking at these guys for a while,” Johnson said. “We’re waiting for that key piece to make an arrest.”
It is not clear when an arrest might be made in the case, Johnson said.
With or without an arrest, the search for Drexel will continue, said Monica Caison, director of the Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons in Wilmington, N.C. The organization conducts nationwide searches for missing people.
No large scale searches have been conducted since December, but Caison said she and a few others have searched several areas including a search conducted a week ago. The searches have been concentrated in an area around U.S. 17 Bypass and the South Santee River in Georgetown County after officials learned learned Drexel’s cell phone gave off its last known signal on April 26 there.

From the link;

This weekend's news coverage of the long-awaited fate of missing Gates teen Brittanee Drexel was about as informative as a politician is honest. The development, after months of nothing, is that police in Myrtle Beach, where Drexel disappeared last year, have "persons of interest" and are now treating this as a likely murder. The reporting on this by the local media looked like it was slapped together at the last minute.

I think it might be a calculated statement to see if the person of interest does something now to incriminate themselves, like try and go move the body or something else. JMO

After everything we have explored and wondered about over the last year, everything makes sense to me now. I just need that question answered if the police believe these guys know anyone back in ROC, to know if i'm right or not.

That could be the evidence they are waiting for. At least one of the pieces.
