What a hot mess rollercoaster of a case.
If the CSAM is true (and it appears that it is), I have no sympathy for any of the adults involved.
There are no heroes here, nobody wins. They all broke the law in one way or another, IMO.
I hope that the daughter is in a good place, physically, mentally and emotionally.

We have a question from the jury.

"Define malice. Is malice required for a murder charge?"

Judge Fant would like to send the charge back to the jury. He tells the defense he cannot send just the portion of the charge back that contains malice. The defense is discussing. The judge tells them to take their time.


Moorman would like the judge to bring the jury back in as a group and give them the charge on malice. The judge says he would charge them on the murder charge which contains the section on malice. He cannot read just the language on malice.



The defense appears very excited by this question.

Just read his testimony from yesterday and he is nothing more than a cold-blooded heartless killer. He did it for the money only. imo

My vote is Guilty!

I believe the jurors will get it right, using common sense.

All this talk about about malice, like somehow ZH didn’t have malice while plotting and carrying out this murder.
I have bad feeling about this too. Poorly presented case by the prosecution and a judge with the backbone of a jellyfish. Too bad the attorney general’s office didn’t take this case over like Murdaugh’s.

I’m with you!
His testimony was very disturbing I thought.
After hearing him describe the murder my first thought was this guy is everything he accused his adopted sister of being. He’s wanted to do this type of thing for a long time but managed to control it. Mello’s situation presented his opportunity.
Lucky for us, they arrested him, because I think he would have done it again. And again. And again.
Frightening to think he might be back on the street.

I don't know what we can believe.

Firstly, Hughes has been sitting in jail for years, preparing for this, rehearsing what he will say. It is, of course, the most important performance of his life.

I don't believe that a concert pianist gets on stage and just spontaneously, genuinely, expresses the music, that he just that moment remembers the tune and taps it out on the keys. Every detail of the performance has been practiced and polished (usually with a coach) and rehearsed hundreds of times.

The other problem is, he and the defense know perfectly well that authorities are not going to challenge his claims about CP.

They are not going to submit evidence to prove he is lying.

Firstly, because it has nothing to do with the case. Motive doesn't matter to whether he is guilty or not.

Secondly, because it is highly illegal for authorities to discuss in public the names of anyone - but especially minors - who are or aren't victims of any sort of abuse.

Hughes' defense lawyers know this. So they have instructed him to lay it on with a trowel.

We know that Hughes and Mello were, in the months before the murder, widely distributing pornographic photos of Christine to allege she was a prostitute. That was their obsession. (IMO the photos were ones Mello himself had taken).

They even sent those photos to Bradley Post! If they believe Post and Christine were making CP, why would they send nude photos of Christine to him, alleging she was an escort? Is that the behaviour of people who believe Post was making *advertiser censored* himself?

I think Mello has successfully waged a campaign of disinformation based on what he heard in the media after the murder.

And what Hughes really wants, IMO, is that his family and the public not see that he did it for money, probably while he was seriously addicted to drugs.

What evidence is there that ZH was using / addicted to drugs? Have I missed something?
Also do we know if he ever took or received the money offered?

Not disputing you, just am missing this info.
