I think there should be a national task force for missing people in the country. It should be a special unit whose purpose is to create, train, educate and assist LE around the country in the immediate aftermath of a missing persons report.

A clear, consistant guideline should be established, to assess a case quickly, and assign it an escalation stage particular to known and evolving facts. Much the same as an emergency room triage.

There should be specialists available to assist with fast tracking access to victims social media data, in addition to cellular data for phones and towers.

There should be a clear guideline for utilizing social media and traditional media outlets.

There should be both general training at all police academies, and a mobile, National unit that assists LE agencies.

There needs to be standardization in procedure.

A great idea! The only roadblocks I see is funding (federal funding and some state funding can help with that aspect) and local agencies saying they are too short staffed to allow personnel to attend. But whatever the excuses are, this needs to happen.

Then we also found out about a stolen LE car. Could LE be very quiet because they are looking for imposter or researching one of their own? What did BB/GS find or know that was so bad they went to jail for it? These things are bugging me.........

Coincidentally, and slightly o/t, I was reading up on today's game (Go Broncos!) on denverpost.com yesterday, and saw this article on the front page. I'm reminded of Heather wherever I go!

Nepotism is something to watch for too. Not necessarily in this case. Im referring to crimes and LE in general. These days, FB makes it easy to find connections.

I was not here in the beginning so I didn't read that. That is interesting. I think anything is possible, just like anyone is possibly involved. I know many people think OM and oMW are involved, but I don't. I have my negative thoughts on them, but IF something happen to her, I don't think it was either of them. I sleuth and keep most of the stuff to myself now, but IMO, I just don't think either of them did it. If LE is still investigating, I think they are looking into a lot of people. I think they are also looking into her leaving on her own. They have said they don't know if this was foul play or not. LE would never rule out that she left on her own unless they were certain. In regards to the guys...BB said something he knew wasn't true and said it was a fact when it was a lie, causing commotion. I don't know what he found. There is speculation as to what he found and what he did with it....instead of turning it over to LE. And GS.....the full details haven't been released. I won't even give my opinion on it. What bugs me is the support for one and not the other when both has helped countless hours and BOTH know the family and both know TE. In an interview he said he didn't know GS, not that he didn't know him well, but didn't know him.

My next statement doesn't pertain to anyone in particular, but if you tell the truth, you don't have to have a good memory.

Does anyone recall from the start of HE's disappearance about LE talking with local fishermen concerning a vehicle pulling a trailer-possibly a boat trailer that had no lights on it? I awoke this morning thinking about it. It may go back as far as the 1st or 2nd thread.

IMO, a fitting tribute to Heather and the countless others missing around the country, more of us should get SAR training.

Up here in Maine, we had a hiker from Tennessee, formerly Georgia, who went missing on the Appalachian Trail this past summer. Although hundreds raised their hands to help search, only SAR trained people were allowed.

If you feel that you are not physically up for searching, donate to your local SAR organization. It is such a worthy cause!!!

Is it possible for Heather to start a new life without using her social and dl by now? Some have done it but keep in mind this is a fairly sheltered, young, unworldly person.

IF she left, I don't think this would be forever. I think someone helped her (I have ideas who, but can't say on here), so I don't think she needs to work. I think she did one of two things....was provided money and shelter OR went to a place that has this type of shelter, such as a woman's home for battered woman, eating disorder, pregnant woman, rehab, etc. (she may not have these things, but I think it's possible). I don't get the impression that she is fairly sheltered, hound or unworldly, She has been out of the house since high school, has lived in several apartments, has traveled and volunteered on a mission. Also, she has dated quite a bit, nothing wrong with this, but to me, it shows a sense of maturity. If she left I think it will be short lived as many people her age that do go! contact or return after a short time. Of course, this is not the only option, I have explored. But, until the police say that it was foul play or they have a person of interest, this will be an option, just like the foul play option I have. I am very open minded. I don't want to miss anything.

Using her driver's license wouldn't necessarily show up anywhere, and it takes a long time for the social security information to be updated. Also, after reading her social media, I don't see any reason to think she's unworldly. Somewhat sheltered, yes, but certainly not naive.

Washington, DC two separate cases were discovered of LE officers in the 7th District re: one LEO for abducting/keeping hostage young females for the purposes of prostitution and another LEO for taking nude pictures of a missing teen after she had returned home. That officer, after being released on his own recognizance, killed himself in the tidal basin.

In Long Island NY and upstate NY, there are countless cases of LE charged with being involved in prostitution, drugs, and sexual assaults and favors. So, yes it does happen and if a female thinks she is being arrested, she would get into the officer's vehicle. If he/she is a bad apple, the female could easily be gone from the life they have chosen to that of a virtual slave. It really does happen. I'm not thinking, so far, that this is the case in Horry County but anything is possible...especially when the victim's cars are left by the side of a roadway, found in a secluded parking lot or the victim is last seen getting into a vehicle.

Imo, a SAR short course should be offered for folks that may be used as volunteers in SAR certified searches. There are many folks with prior military, public safety, and outdoors persons, etc., experience, yet can not devote the time required for certification training.
