The whole "when the car was left there" has been a bit confusing to me from the beginning. First I heard was that a neighbor to PTL said vehicle was there since Monday. Then, LE reports that person was mistaken. I can understand a one day discrepancy, but was this person in Oz to mistake Monday for Thursday? There have been other versions, such as fishermen called the car in, or police found it while on routine patrol. If her car was left there on the 17th then it would have had to be placed there before she went on her date because she got dropped off from that 2 am on the 18th. Did date knows what kind of car she drove, or did he assume the roomate's vehicle was here?

I am wondering if Heather's car was seen there on Monday, then she left in it, came back on Tuesday perhaps, left, and came back on Wednesday, you know, a meeting place, so it was observed there on different days and the observer thought it had been left there since Monday, except that maybe it was there alright, but not through the whole duration of time.
IMOO.

Maybe this is semantics, but I found it interesting in this Nancy Grace video interview with Terry Elvis, that they were talking about Heather's phone, and around the 40 second mark in the video Nancy Grace asks....
"Terry was that pinged Back to her apartment?"
and Terry replied, "Um, at this time, they won't really confirm where it was pinged To."

This video is from HLN on Youtube:

Nancy Grace: 'Please, help us find Heather Elvis' - YouTube

When I just read Terry's statement I found the "at this time" part of the statement interesting.
At this time meaning whatever time the call was that NG asked about as opposed to other calls that night
Or
At this time they won't really confirm where it was pinged to but some other time (moment) they will confirm.

"At this time" and "really" along with the "Um" make this sentence interesting.
Take these words out and he says,
they won't confirm where it was pinged to.

But he doesn't say that. All those other words muddy it up.

Although I don't think running away is the case here, I must say that Heather struck me as being resourceful, willing to try new things, thinks creatively, is not afraid to work for what she wants, or do things unconventionally. Qualities that would help her if she decided to take off. If she did, it may have been out of fear but I just can't work the car being at PTL into the equation.

Strictly hypothesizing: the only way I can figure that could have happened is either 1) if she had some kind of blowout fight with the family, so bad that she could legitimately feel that her family wouldn't be looking for her and wouldn't care about hearing from her or 2) she was so afraid of somebody or something that she felt like she couldn't take the chance of letting anybody at all know where she was going. But there's no evidence of either of those.

Another possibility is that she left intending to call from her destination in a day or two, but ran into trouble en route or when she got to where she was going. If that's the case, we'll probably never know.

Generally speaking I think if a person was planning to leave, they'd probably try to keep everything as normal as possible up to the end so they didn't alert anyone to what they were planning. And picking a time when they didn't have to be at work for several days would give them a couple of days to get clear. So that aspect might fit.

But I can't think of any reason a person leaving wouldn't just leave the car parked in the parking lot.

Again, this is all purely hypothetical. I don't intend to suggest anything about anybody's actions or motivations. I'm just trying to figure out whether it's plausible that she left.

JMO I really do not think there is a mystery about the 17th appearing on the poster...either just an error or trying to get memories backdated to that day to include the 17th. I really do not see many "mysteries" overall...just a case, like many others, where details are reported differently through various sources, and we, who follow every word and posting out there, jump at any possible variations. Happens in every case I have followed. JMO

Yes, that's a plausible explanation. If so, seems like there were regular rendezvous??

If her folks had property near PTL, would it be possible that she and whomever she was meeting would leave their cars at the landing and walk to that property so no one in the neighborhood would see cars there when they used it as their secret place? Wonder if those grounds were searched..... Just throwing it out there for ya. Trying to make sense out of so little info.

I was one who felt strongly about the OM and OMW being involved but as time goes on [modsnip] I can not totally feel that neither is involved based on those early morning calls. I do agree that Heather has the maturity to walk away and go it alone but am not convinced she went that route at this time. I do feel if there is no movement in this case in the next couple of weeks that the LE agency in charge needs outside help and this goes for the AB case also. [modsnip]

BBM

I cant imagine what you could mean, but for me OM is definitely involved in Heather's disappearance.

Sometimes when a car is left in a park's parking lot it will receive a ticket and possibly one of those tow stickers placed on the windshield. It's possible she left the car there on the 17th, got a ride somewhere and then home in time for her date. Then in the early morning of the 18th she called to see if the married man would help her to retrieve the car.

But, she never got there to pick it up. When the police drove by they could see that the car was still there. Some localities date or notate 'tow by dates" on a little red sticker.

[modsnip]. As far as OM ,I didn't eliminate him but again we can not discuss him. I do recall HE stating in a SM page about the "guy who builds things in work" . I think it safe to say OM and that person are the same . I'm hoping that LE has questioned everyone who works there about the relationship .That combined with what BW knows first hand and has told LE and cellphone records puts LE on the doorstep on making either a POI or an arrest but I feel they need a body to act.

I agree with your logic about listing the 19th instead of the 17th as the date the car was found on the missing poster.
You say you think there is a reason for it. Do you mean that someone benefits from the missing poster having the car found date as the 17th instead of the 19th or it points to someone or what? This is where you lost me.
Your use of the ellipsis (or multiple ellipses) has led me to believe you think there is an intent that benefits someone.

I agree with Hockeymom, if the car was there after the date which was posted and someone had been at PTL and had actually seen the car after the 17th, it would probably not be of any significance to them(memory-wise) .

And I wonder if that's why missing posters have stated.... "On or about December 17, 2013"... Using both prepositions covers different time periods, or different days perhaps?

IMOO.

I agree with you Treelights, it's just that the one hockeymom is referring to isn't worded like that.

I just mean I think there is a reason behind putting the date as the 17th. I think it actually may have been found there. Perhaps the date was mistaken about seeing her car. Perhaps the car was found to be there on the 17th by eye witnesses. Logically, it wouldn't make sense to put the wrong date.

The date was interviewed & police officially cleared him. In order to do that, they'd have to corroborate everything he said. Therefore I think le most likely asked Heather's neighbors as well if her car was parked at her apartment. I believe the car was found on the 19th just like le said it was when the person called it into the station. Maybe that person also said they thought they saw that car at PTL on the 17th as well. There's a myriad of reasons why the posters could be using the date of the 17th and I think it could be a strategic tactic to pull in more tips. I only wish people making those posters wouldn't state the 17th as a definitive date bc if so then it's incorrect.

This is exactly what I think as well. I also would like to add that I think her cell pinged there. I personally feel it could have been her meeting place.

I've always wondered why LE has not come forth publicly and asked to hear from anyone who used the landing between the morning of the 18th to late on the 19th.

I believe early on LE stated something to effect that they could not say that foul play was involved. IF LE has processed HE's car does this mean they didn't find anything?

No signs of struggle in car or condo. (I know it was stated in the media about the condo, but I remember about the car. Although it has been said that TE was allowed to drive it home.) No word that dogs picked up her scent at PTL. (Actually no specifics on what the results were with the dogs at the landing.) I don't believe PTL is a crime scene except to dump the car.

Assuming foul play, I wonder what a criminal profiler would say about the perp. Organized or not organized?

Agree.
I thought it odd that no questions were ever put forth about the car. Have you seen this car etc etc
The only reason for this would be LE knows exactly when it got there and who was driving. All just my opinions.

Was HE's car taken by a car wash for cleaning and vacuuming by the perp/s? Then dumped at the secluded PTL rather than risking being seen returning it her condo complex?..

This entire ordeal is so discouraging due to lack of information, crime- scene evidence, concrete suspects, witnesses, etc. it seems like there has been absolutely no progress since day one ! And whatever evidence( phone pings, last person Heather spoke to , rumors of having been threatened by a coworker) have brought forth nothing to add to this puzzle ! Just seems to me something is amiss or is most likely being withheld ! JMO- scratching my head !!!!

Does anyone recall from the start of HE's disappearance about LE talking with local fishermen concerning a vehicle pulling a trailer-possibly a boat trailer that had no lights on it? I awoke this morning thinking about it. It may go back as far as the 1st or 2nd thread.

I don't recall this. Where did the info come from? Can you provide a link?

That's a good point, it would be interesting to know the answer to this question as well as a lot of other questions !!! I do sincerely hope that LE has some substantial info they are sitting on for whatever reason ,though ,if they had anything concrete , I believe the investigation would have made more progress! Sooooo FRUSTRATING !!!!:banghead::banghead:

I remember it was a poster on FHEFB that mentioned it twice and said someone needed to look into it.
On 1/8 the family wrote "PLEASE EVERYONE IN HORRY COUNTY REPOST THIS; UPDATE; WE NEED PEOPLE TO COME FORWARD THAT SEEN THE CAR AT THE BOAT LANDING(AT ANYTIME)... ANYONE ELSE WHO SEEN SOMEONE WALKING THAT EARLY MORNING IN THAT AREA...THE PEOPLE CATFISHING THAT NIGHT NEED TO COME FORWARD... THERE IS A TRUCK AND BOAT ON A TRAILER WITH NO TAIL LIGHTS IN THIS IMMEDIATE AREA TO COME FORWARD."

I remember it in one of the early threads. But I don't remember the source.
