Whatever happens to AM, I hope LE does not loose focus that identifying and arresting Maggie and Paul's murderer be should be Priority One. I sometimes wonder if they have been put on the back burner.

I'm guessing that his 53 felonies (and counting ...) are intimately related to MM and PM's murders. Just a matter of time before it ALL blows up around AM and we learn who killed them.

Where did all that money go? I do not believe it all went on drugs. Was he being blackmailed over something? MOO

That is what I want to know too. He would be dead IMO if he took that many opioids.

Maybe gambling or bribing judges, police and/or court personnel? JMO as a possibility.

Alex Murdaugh knows he’s ‘going to prison’: lawyer

Alex Murdaugh knows he's 'going to prison': lawyer

“Look, he’s reconciled to the fact he’s going to prison,” attorney Dick Harpootlian told “Good Morning America” of the once-powerful member of one of South Carolina’s most celebrated legal dynasties.

...

Yes Harpootlian you are right on this.

AM needs to go to a State Prison.

JMO, but Dick Harpootlian is trying to pull strings and get the feds to try him and send him to a cushy white collar prison.

Cushy white collar prison....what is that? Don't tell me that there are different prisons for different folks. Or is it an old boy's club? MOO

I am not sure if you are kidding so I will say that Fits News has an article that states that is what AM's lawyer are attempting to do.

Agreed. "Drug addiction" was always a red herring. You gotta be on your game to lie, cheat, steal and embezzle $millions for YEARS.

No, not kidding. I am in Australia and it seemed odd to me that there would be different prisons for those with money.

https://www.fitsnews.com/2021/10/14...ly-negotiating-with-feds-for-probe-plea-deal/

“They want (Murdaugh) to do his time in Club Fed, not the state cellblock,” a source familiar with the negotiations told this news outlet.

That’s a reference to the relatively cozy conditions of minimum security federal prisons versus the rough-and-tumble world of the S.C. Department of Corrections (SCDC).

Ones' in Danbury, CT....FCI Danbury. Leona Helmsley, Lauryn Hill, Teresa Gudice, Gordon Liddy...etc went there. My Dad, a state cop, always called it The Country Club.

its not really about people who have money, it’s more about white collar crime vs violent/drug crimes. However if you have lots of money, and want to plead, you can say you’re willing to plead as long as you get to serve your sentence at a particular facility. (At least that’s the way I understand it)

Is it possible PM's lawyer sent him to rehab to get into the drug rehab program in prison? This article states plenty of famous white collar clients do that and the attorney has them show up with alcohol or drugs in their system resulting in a lower sentence.

It sounds crazy but it also sounds crazy to claim a 6M opioid addiction since 2016.

"For a fee up to $5,000 Levine advises clients on how to get into the program and how to maximize the resulting sentence reduction. For example, he suggests that clients show up drunk on the day they surrender so that they get interviewed about their substance abuse problem right away. "BOP is looking for reasons to put people into the program," he says."

Time Off For Bad Behavior

America's 10 Cushiest Prisons

Just a possibility IMO.

Thanks for posting the Cushy article. Most of us here in the US know of the differences between Fed and State prison systems, but this provided so much color and facts.

It just makes it so much more clear why Alex's attorneys have been pushing the drug addiction soooo hard.

Martha Stewart spent her prison time in FCI Alderson, located in rural southern West Virginia. No fences, few guards, known as "Camp Cupcake".
Yes, There are some prisons that are much more acceptable to the privileged class.
Six months of Hard Tennis beats stamping license plates.

It seems highly unlikely that LE would forget about a double murder that has been in the news almost daily for the last 6 months. Certainly that have been working the case and will make their move when they have it nailed down to a T.

agreed... if he wanted to commit suicide, why not do it alone at Moselle?
Well, he would say that he wanted it to look like murder so Buster could collect insurance on it.

  • #478
Exactly. He could have done the faux suicide much more easily and privately on his expansive property. Nope. That roadside set up was all about making AM out to be a victim. Total fail.
IMO
The argument would be that if he "were" wanting to die, but still get an insurance payout for Buster, that it would have to NOT look like a suicide. So shooting himself is out, because the gun would remain by his side.

Yeah but again why not do a staged murder at Moselle? Same place his wife and son were killed. Moo: because it was never a staged murder. AM just wanted to paint himself as a target, a victim in a dramatic way to draw sympathy and hopefully distract from his about to be exposed financial crimes.

Moselle would've been a better place for a staged attack, especially if there aren't any security cameras on the property. Incredible carelessness to assume that the church across the street from the Sept. 3 shooting wouldn't have a camera.

For what it's worth, I've never believed that it was Alex's intention to die on Sept. 3. However, I have a smart friend who thinks he did, so I thought I'd come here and see what ya'll think, since I respect the opinions of Websleuths. :)
