I love that judge! He presided over that case where the young woman got into a car thinking it was her Uber, and ended up getting killed. I can't remember her name, unfortunately, but this judge played no games with that defendant.

The law enforcement source tells PEOPLE that blood spatter allegedly found on Alex Murdaugh's clothes indicates he was at the scene at the time of the murder, and not visiting his father at the hospital, as he later claimed.

Additionally, the source says that Murdaugh's cell phone, watch, and vehicle GPS also contradict his assertion that he was continually with his father at the hospital. Investigators say that Murdaugh lured Maggie to the scene, saying that he wanted to go with her to visit his ailing father, with whom she was very close.
If this is true, really makes me wonder about AM's state of mind/desperation/smarts. Everyone knows about GPS! JMO and total speculation.

How about Harpootlian saying AM wanted a speedy trial so he can prove his innocence because he is concerned about the killer being at large. I think that ranks just behind securing junk food and playing cards at the jail for AM.
Yes, AM hasn't done anything to find or mentioned 'finding the killers' since the lame award poster that expired. Not in public while still free and not while he was behind bars on the phone call tapes we've heard thus far. It's pathetic and sad.

MOO

Samantha Josephson, agree he was awesome.

I find it interesting that Harpootlian is aiming for a trial right around election time, October-November. With H's political past, I suspect this may not be a coincidence.

That was the Samantha Josephson case and Judge Newman was an all-star in that trial no doubt!

Alex Murdaugh Borrows Clothes from Lawyer’s Son So He Can Plead Not Guilty to Murdering His Own

Prosecutors alleged that Maggie had been killed with an assault rifle while apparently attempting to flee the scene. Paul had been fatally shot with a shotgun at close range. Refusing to go into detail, South Carolina Assistant Attorney General Creighton Waters added during the bond hearing in Colleton County court on Wednesday that investigators had substantial forensic evidence that tied the former lawyer to the double murders.

“The evidence all came back to one person and that was Alex Murdaugh,” Waters said, adding that the evidence was tied to his slew of other alleged crimes. “A lot of that provides the background and the motive for what happened on June 7, 2021.”

Murdaugh sat plain-faced, flanked by his two attorneys as prosecutors argued he should be held without bail. Behind a frail-looking Murdaugh, who had a shaved head and wore a white face mask, sat over a dozen members of the media—and a portrait of his late grandfather who once prosecuted cases in the same courthouse as a solicitor.

The only time Murdaugh spoke on Wednesday when he pleaded not guilty and said he would like to be judged “by God and my country.”

On the tapes he seems to think he can still do business as usual. Ordering BM to get hold of this one or that one. Does he even grasp the reality of what he has done and who is still willing to do for him??? He seems delusional!!! I wonder how long it will take before he has no one left.

Just some thoughts...

Has BM been considered as a suspect in the SS case? Has anyone??

IMHO, I think AM was there at the house causing GS to fall and inflicting her injuries. He was very close when he was called about the fall and arrived before EMS, iirc.

Also, PM's Estate is mentioned. What can he have in an Estate at his age?? Grandparent's inheritance maybe??

When the boat accident lawsuit(s) are settled where will any compensation come from??

Not one family member in court. I'm sure they were avoiding the media, but it would have been nice to see them show up for MM and PM.

Judge Newman is great. I liked when he pretty much told Harpootlian this would be a public trial and not held in private. I really despise these attorneys.
I expect that request for a speedy trial to fly out the window pretty quick and be replaced with requests for extensions so Alex’s bought and paid for “experts” can look at everything. I guess they’ll be paid for with money Alex stole or from Maggie’s estate, the wife he murdered.
I liked the way the attorney for the state little statements about how much evidence they had against Alex. It seemed to annoy Harpootlian. He needs to be annoyed more.
I hope Judge Newman makes this trial very public!!

Wednesday's bond hearing was attended by curious locals, interested attorneys in other Murdaugh cases, and throngs of media outlets, including Court TV, NBC Dateline, ABC 20/20, The New Yorker and the Wall Street Journal. Several authors were also in attendance, including Jason Ryan, author of the bestselling Jackpot, who is one of several authors writing a book on the Murdaugh case.

The defense wants that speedy trial to happen in either October or November; however, the state said January would be aggressive but more appropriate.

This is INTERESTING and what we suspected.

Do you all feel as happy as I do about AM's lawyers stating he cannot afford to post bond!?!

His defense said Murdaugh can't afford to post any bond and wants a speedy trial because "he believes the killer or killers are still at large."

Oh, happy days are here again! LOL :D

No one wishes ill will towards their fellow man but this wrecking ball of a disgraced former lawyer thought he was above the law and well above our peon class of citizenry; therefore, that dismisses the no ill will wished rule.

I cannot wait for Discovery documents because they will reveal all the details we've been surmising for months years on these threads. The best is yet to come, my friends!

Thanks for posting that. I am just catching up on the news & was wondering if family members from either side showed up.

Isn’t OJ still looking for Nicole’s killer? ;)

and they keep falling...

On the same day accused murderer Alex Murdaugh appeared for a bond hearing in Colleton County, his alleged co-conspirator and banker friend Russell Laffitte was indicted by a United States grand jury for his alleged role in illegally loaning himself money from the accounts of Murdaugh’s clients.

The five-count indictment includes bank fraud, wire fraud, misapplication of bank funds and conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud.
