He must have been shot right after he got out of the vehicle. From the short video clips the vehicle doesn't look like someone was in the proces of changing a tire. The trunk is still closed, no new tire or tools seems to be taken out.

I posted truth regarding a case where 200 shell casings were picked up right outside a vehicle with two occupants in the front seat. The front side windows and windshield both shot out. The driver was not hit at all, and the passenger was killed by a single bullet.

Most shooters of pistols are terribly inaccurate. Add a moving vehicle and accuracy declines. Those shooters in the aforementioned case weren't driving by, they were standing directly around the front of the vehicle, shooting in to it through the windshield and side windows.

Why would a targeted hit include a vehicle turning around? Did they drive by to ensure it was only him in the car? Otherwise, why not pull right in behind him and do the deed?

Why would a targeted hit not include stopping, getting out, and ensuring the victim is shot dead?

Why would a targeted hit be planned for the side of a road where the risk of being seen by other vehicles could not be controlled?

How would a targeted hit know his vehicle would be disabled due to a flat tire? Did the assailants shoot out the tire?

Did some yahoo's drive by, recognize him, turn around, take shots at him while driving by the other way? Someone unrelated to the other family murders? Or some inexperienced 'hit' men that loused up the entire thing?

Did a couple of locals see an opportunity to take out another Murdaugh, a random, spur of the moment decision?

Why was he taking this route to Charleston?

RSBM. How many television shows and movies have we seen where LE announces a dead victim is still alive in an attempt to get the killer to try to finish the job? Does that ever happen in real life? Has anyone other than Randy, AM’s lawyer and/or LE verified he’s alive, let alone conscious and speaking?

If he is indeed sitting in a hospital bed making and taking phone calls this was either 1) a random shot by a stranger, 2) Planned by someone who’s good at disabling vehicles but a far worse shot than whomever killed Paul and his mother or 3) it was self-inflicted (or the shot was taken by another person at AM’s direction).

Buster must be scared witless right now. And if he’s not I wonder why....

ETA: Was there not a hospital closer than Charleston? In my mind Flight for Life indicated life-threatening injury. Yet, he’s not only talking, he’s making multiple phone calls while waiting for help to arrive. The combination is yet another line item on the “well, isn’t that odd?” list IMO.
If the intention is to set-up the shooter to finish the job, they should have been clear what hospital they are leading them to, is it one of several hospitals in Savannah or MUSC in Charleston?
It depends what media you read.

Alex Murdaugh shot in Hampton County, SLED investigating

Griffin said Murdaugh was shot in the head while changing a tire early Saturday afternoon. He originally said Murdaugh was airlifted to MUSC in Charleston, then later clarified he was taken to a hospital in Savannah.

I have questions about the flat tire. How far away from home was he when it became imperative to change it by the side of the road? If it were truly sabotaged wouldn’t that have taken place at his property? I can drive a looong way with a nail or screw in the tire of my newer model Jeep Cherokee and I may get a low air warning but can still drive with it just fine. Random flat tire doesn’t make sense to me.

Out of all the choices you present for this reality mini series, I like the yahoo theory.
As you point out, professional hitman would have finished the job, there was no reason not to.

Coincidentally, he was a 10 minute drive from the property where his wife and son were killed.

A flat tire? Most high end vehicles have those special run flat tires that will allow to drive approx 50 miles or more at a slow speed. Long enough to get to a gas station or a place for assistance.
The dash board will flash a warning that tire pressure is low.
Also no spare or jack in those cars with the run flat tires.
Possible that AM vehicle did not have this type tire. Or AM got a dash warning light and pulled over to check/ look at the tire.
Why do I picture this guy driving like a "76" Lincoln Towncar?

Many high end vehicles don't even come with a spare. They contract services through onstar, AAA, Uconnect or whatever Mercedes, BMW etc use.

My "16" 392 Challenger didn't come with a spare. Only a small air compressor that had fix a flat built into it and the subscribed SOS and road side assistant button.

Is there any information on AM's car being hit in the shooting? Wouldn't he try to hide behind it? Did he run away from it?

  • #575
Once again it’s what LE isn’t doing that raises concern. Agencies will often put out “Be On The Lookout” alerts for a variety of incidents, even as simple as petty theft, but not with a roadside shooting?

I’ve only heard of casings being found, no reports on where the bullets landed. I’ve heard it suggested also that this shooter truck was moving so these casings were found strewn out over some distance?

MOO, but the 10 casings might not just be from the attacker(s). I would be more surprised if AM wasn’t carrying his own weapon for self defense than if he was. He just lost his wife and son to a violent murder, and he has a hunting property which would imply he’s familiar with firearms. For him to choose to arm himself for self defense and have the ability to return fire would make sense to me in this case. That would easily explain the amount of shots fired and that AM would survive the attack.

And where is Buster? If this shooting ended differently he would be the only surviving member of his immediate family- hopefully people are staying close to him!

I would not want to be anywhere near Buster or, for that matter, any member of the Murdaugh family.

I’d expect him to be armed too but with all of the PR these folks are putting out via spokespersons and lawyers, if AM would have defended himself in a gunfight, I’m sure they wouldn’t leave that out of a public statement.
