Respectfully, you might be in insurance but let me give you a little fact about funeral homes. They don't bury people without all the funeral expenses being paid up front. And they charge just as much for a young person or child's funeral as they do an adult. So if, God forbid, something happens to my son or his wife, or my grand son and his wife the other is left with funeral costs, bills, college expenses and raising the kids alone. And as far as having insurance on the younger grands and great grands, the 20,000.00 life insurance policies I have on them will barely cover the funeral expenses.
So respectfully, I disagree. Everyone needs life insurance on them. And on the Grands and great grands under 18 its only a few dollars each month, which could spare my son, DIL, grandson, and grand DIL a lot of expense they might not have the money to pay. The adults know we have it on them as they had to sign the application for it and for their kids.
As far as hubby and I go, we have a lot of life insurance on us because I have a business with employees who are family who will lose their jobs if I die. And hubby will have a considerable reduction of income. It was my choice to get substantial life insurance policies on myself as it was his choice to get them on him because neither of us wants the other or our son burdened by final expenses.
