In SC, you have to live separately for 1 year before you can get a divorce. I just assumed that's what MM was doing at Edisto.

Ah, good point. I forgot that SC has that rule.

I wonder if LE searched the Edisto home after MM was murdered? She might have had notes, files, journal or diary, etc. there....

In response to@people’s
claim that Maggie #Murdaugh had seen a divorce lawyer six weeks before she and Paul were murdered, a spokesperson for Alex Murdaugh gave the following statement to WJCL:

"The most recent allegations by People Magazine regarding the state of Maggie and Alex Murdaugh’s marriage are totally inconsistent with what we have been told by friends and family members. Also, we have reviewed many years of text messages on Alex’s phone, and the conversations between Alex and Maggie portray a very loving relationship.
It is our hope that the media will continue to focus on covering the investigation of the person or people responsible for the murder of Maggie and Paul and not reporting salacious stories with no credible sources connected to the Murdaugh family”

Murdaugh Murder Mystery: 'Behind the Black Ties and Fancy Dresses Were Miserable People'

"Behind the black ties and fancy dresses were miserable people," one local who runs in the Murdaughs' social circles says in this week's issue of PEOPLE.

<snip>

Another source says that Maggie used to visit her husband at the firm "all the time," but had stopped coming in the months before she was killed.

At the firm's Christmas party in December 2020, "she and Alex didn't talk at all," the source says.

<snip>

Maggie barely spoke to her husband when they attended a University of South Carolina baseball game on June 5, two nights before she was killed, a witness tells PEOPLE.

During the game, Maggie "seemed aggravated" the source says, while Alex and her oldest son, Buster, "were having a good old time," the witness says.

"She was mad," the witness says.

While Alex and Buster went to the bar at least four times to get drinks, Maggie sat quietly next to a young blonde woman, the witness says.

Alex brought back peanuts for Maggie "and just tossed them to her," without saying anything, the source says. "It was weird. Something was off."

But of course.

Spokesperson for Murdaugh? I’m suppose to believe a spokesperson for Murdaugh?

Not a chance

How does the spokesperson know the source wasn't credible?

It's not salacious if it sheds light on a potential motive.

AM, his lawyers, and spokespeople haven't proven themselves to be credible sources of information. - According to their camp, everything is a 'distraction'. (No, it is likely all interconnected)

This is a very strangely worded statement. Why would this “spokesperson” for AM not just say “The allegations put forth are false. AM would like to say his marriage was a good and loving one blah blah blah...”. Instead it sounds like notes from a third party.
Sounds about as credible as those statements about AM’s serious gunshot wound to the head, complete with entry and exit wounds and skull fracture.

John Marvin Murdaugh said he did not perceive the threats to be serious at the time.

“I didn’t think it was a credible threat,” he said in the segment. “If it was, I would have tried to do something or notify someone. But, I guess, maybe I made a mistake.”

Paul Murdaugh received threats before his death, Murdaugh family members say

...

Was this thrown out there to take the attention away from AM?

I’m sure it was. They all wanted us to think murders were retaliation for MB & boat crash.

EXACTLY.

Didn't AM's attorney say they were doing their own investigation (separate from LE investigation)?

And didn't his attorney also claim that they had a pretty good suspect in mind and would know within the next week?

Seems, in my opinion, his spokesmen are full of it.

A court order filed Tuesday names Judge Clifton Newman to handle “pretrial matters relating to all pending and future criminal investigations” concerning the deaths of Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie Murdaugh; his son, Paul; the family’s longtime housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield; and Stephen Smith.

Attorneys representing the sons of former Murdaugh family housekeeper Gloria Satterfield have filed a special motion to ask a judge to arrest Alex Murdaugh for allegedly stealing millions from Satterfield’s sons in an insurance scam.

This is wild.

Poor Alec.the jail food is even worse than reha
I missed the show and it's not being rebroadcast as far as I can find. A baseball bat was mentioned by the Smith family, IIRC After hearing that I remember thinking maybe the evidence of blue paint chips on Stephen's body were from a blue painted metal bat.

OMG is that what was found on Moselle property that reopened the Smith case!?
Two possible scenarios, both based on the idea that Paul had knowledge of Smith’s murder, and Smith’s killers knew or believed he would give them up in exchange a deal in the Mallory Branch case:
1. It was on his laptop, we know the detective searched it.
2. Paul discussed his idea with his lawyer, who would have to negotiate the actual deal. His lawyer gave this info to SLED after Paul’s death so Paul’s murderers wouldn’t get away with it.

SLED reopened the probe into Stephen Smith’s death in Hampton County based on information agents gathered as they continue to investigate the shooting deaths of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, SLED spokesman Tommy Crosby confirmed.

State police reopen hit-and-run death investigation from details gathered in Murdaugh case

...

Information they received.

It’s my opinion that it had to do with the Murdaugh name being mentioned 40 times in the investigation of S Smith.

Jmo red herring

AM deeds moselle to MM Dec 2016

The holly st home sold on 5 1 2020

April 2021? MM sees lawyer

Jun 4th 2021 mediation

June 7th MM PM murdered

I would guess that the June 4th mediation didn't go very well for AM.
